"Prague is packed with accommodations housed in historic buildings of the Baroque, Neo-classical, and Art Nouveau variety, which is what makes Hotel Josef so refreshing. On the edge of the old Jewish Quarter, just a short stroll from Old Town Square, the property is an unapologetically modern glass-and-chrome structure designed by Czech architect Eva Jiřičná. The 109-room boutique lodging eschews Old World excess in favor of clean lines, minimalist design, and neutral palettes with the occasional pop of bright orange or red, hot pink, or cobalt blue. Suites on the 7th or 8th floor are worth the splurge with walk-out balconies where you can enjoy breakfast or a cocktail; bathrooms range from enclosed limestone to entirely glass. Though the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, there’s an on-site French bakery in the breakfast room for morning pastries. Other cool amenities include a rooftop bar, a leafy garden for relaxing, and free three-hour use of a retro scooter."

My husband, baby and I came to Prague for a last minute getaway and how lucky we were that this hotel was available. It was in minimal walking distance to points of interest, the room was a nice size - updated, stylish and comfortable. My husband also thoroughly enjoyed the gym and he is very picky about that. The staff was lovely and provided us with great restaurant recommendations and made reservations for us. I’m usually one to rely solely on Google map reviews ;) but they were better than Google. I also unfortunately left behind something in the hotel room and they were wonderful about promptly finding it and arranging shipment to me even though I had already checked out. I highly recommend Hotel Josef!

Great hotel in the best location! The room was very comfortable, with a big bed. The staff were super nice and friendly, and really tried their best. It would be great if the room was a little warmer in December. (The heating in the bathroom is only working after new year eve for some reason..) The breakfast was amazing, and the complimentary minibar in the room was so fun! We got to taste some really cool local drinks! We'll definitely be back! :)

What a great hotel. Lavish breakfast, great location, beyond excellent service in an architecturally interesting building. I would stay again. Only small downside, bed felt like futon rather than regular mattress but just a minor issue. Wonderful hotel in a great city.

Hotel Josef is conveniently located with a 5 minute walk to the old town square. Service in the hotel was top notch, from Mohamed at the front desk to Martin Petran managing breakfast in the morning and the bar in the evening. They were so helpful and friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms were a good size with a lot of modern amenities. We loved Prague and will come back and most certainly will stay here again.

Had an excellent 5 nights stay celebrating our golden wedding anniversary, the staff were superb, very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was unique, well placed for visiting the various sights and the breakfast selection was very good including freshly baked pastries. We wouldn't hesitate in staying there again.

The room we got was quite large, reasonably clean but mostly functioning amenities (one light was broken, shower tap loose and leaking, flooding bathroom). The pillows we got were slightly stained and very, very flat.... We hope they were clean.... However, we were still mostly happy with the stay despite these issues given the very close location to main station. The free coffee from coffee machine in the rooms was a nice addition given the cold winter mornings of Zurich! Given the price of the stay (480+CHF/3days), do I think it was exceptional value and fantastic? Probably not. 3/5

During my business trips to the Czech Republic, I often stayed at this hotel. The design is modern and almost entirely glass-like, which gives it a unique atmosphere. Everything in the room was made of glass—the walls, including those of the bathroom, the table, the TV, even the kettle. It’s definitely a distinctive experience. I frequently ordered room service during my stays, and it’s highly recommended as the food was of outstanding quality. One downside is the view and location. While the hotel is situated in Prague’s Old Town, it’s a bit removed from the city center’s main attractions, restaurants, and cafés. A major plus, however, is the underground parking directly at the hotel, making it convenient to bring your belongings to your room without hassle. Having a private parking facility in Prague is a rare luxury!

A great location for discovering the charms of Prague on foot. The service is first rate and the staff very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The breakfast is by far the best I've experienced for many years of travel, with on-premises bakery offering great bread and pastries. Highly recommend Hotel Josef if staying in Prague.

Yelp
The hotel staff were great. Even with our issue that we discovered in the middle of the night they were very helpful. From the checkin to the bar employee and at checkout everyone's was so nice and helpful. We did have one issue the first night. As we laid down we found bed begs crawling on us. Then later discovered more under the mattress and sheets. Never have I ever experienced this and it ruined my sleep for the night. We called the front desk, and they told us to leave and go to another room and to leave our things bc it was literally like 2a. However we decided to pack up bc we did NOT want to take those bed bugs on the journey with us. Next morning we talked to the guest and asked for a different room bc the one they put us seemed smaller. It felt small and tucked into a corner. So they moved us to a nicer room. Other than the bed bugs this stay was great. We were in room 414 when it happened. Then moved to the first floor. Then to the 5th floor in another building. I did see them cleaning the room the next day which is amazing. They had pulled the mattress and moved the headboard to rid the space. ( I could see this from my new room the next day). That was great to see they were taking the measures to rid the place of bed bugs. I'd recommend the place outside of the bed bugs. I can't say I'll stay there again, but if I do and there are bed bugs again I can only be mad at myself.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay here. Outstanding location, great service, impressive breakfast buffet, quality Finnish sauna and beautiful clean rooms! What more could you ask for?! I enjoyed my stay here more than I did at the Hilton!! Without a doubt, this hotel will be at the top of my list if I return to Prague.

Yelp
Stayed 6 days at the Hotel Josef and we enjoyed everything about it. The rooms were nice and modern. The staff was excellent and took care of all your needs. The location is superb for about walking to everything. Next time in Prague we will definitely be staying at Hotel Josef

Yelp
A nice design hotel and a very welcoming host. We got a superior room inclusive breakfast, WiFi, minibar, entrance to the fitness room and sauna, furthermore a welcome VIP treatment with a nice bottle of red wine in our room. The hotel is located just a short walk from the old town square. Multiple restaurants and historical sights. The buffet breakfast is phenomenal with a large choice and there is also a breakfast menu where you can order your special egg, omelette etc. The service there is top notch. The lobby bar is very convenient if you just want to hang out without leaving the hotel. We have a heavy duvet at home so my wife couldn't really adjust to the one in the room. They offered an extra one for here without any extra cost. Happy wife One thing we miss as being from Norway and US, is a better verity of tv channels.

Yelp
We are really enjoying our stay! Despite our room not having a view except for courtyard, it is quiet and comfortable. In room coffee and tea available and mini bar is free (and non-alcoholic). Booked through hotel website for nice welcome gift! World class buffet breakfast and fresh baked bread/pastry delight. Staff welcoming and helpful. Would certainly return as location is walking distance to many sights and in nice part of old town.

Yelp
I stayed at Hotel Josef the first time I visit Prague. There are in a great location, close to major tourist attractions and some of the best restaurants. The staff are amazing, friendly and gave us great recommendations.

Yelp
I never write reviews. I believe I've written one in my life before this one. But the quality and service of this Hotel and it's staff, especially relative to the cost, deserve one. Although it does not have all of the amenities that one has come to expect in many western hotels (on demand movies on the TVs, food room service, etc), its location is perfect (right in the heart of Old Town Prague), the room and the hotel lobby were large, stylish and pristine, and the staff went way above and beyond to be helpful. For example, when I hoped to watch a movie in my room, they brought up and installed a DVD player with a list of hundreds of available modern and classic movies. They didn't have room service, but they arranged for someone to buy a bottle of wine and delivered it to my room. The concierge spent 20 minutes giving me a perfect itinerary/recommendation list that ended up being exactly on point. And they have daily laundry turn-around (which I was dying for halfway through a month long trek around Europe). All for $130 a night. For the price, it was perfect. (It also helps that Prague is a magical fairy tale, but that's a different story). Highest marks.

Yelp
What can I say - second time staying here in Prague - as I arrived through the entrance doors - I was pleasantly greeted by two smiling beautiful women who went out of their way to make sure my checkin was smooth and walked me to my room. The food in the restaurant for breakfast and lunch was fantastic - they have a bakery onsite that makes all things fresh. Great place for a team meeting. Location is awesome ! A 3 minute walk to the old town square and also a 3 minute walk to the high end shopping district. I used the car service from the hotel for transfers to the airport and other meetings I had - super friendly drivers - MARTIN especially - Will be back again !

Yelp
Hotel Josef is a modern, sparkly clean, and most importantly, walking distance to pretty much all Prague has to offer! The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The concierge gave us great recommendations and helped us make dinner reservations. They even surprised me with a complimentary bottle of champagne with a card for my birthday which was appreciated!

Yelp
Stayed here for a week while traveling in Prague. Breakfast buffet was amazing and an excellent way to start your day in a foreign country! Staff was very helpful, although one lady at the front desk must have been dyslexic because she kept giving everyone awfully wrong directions (sending people in the exact wrong direction, wrong informations etc.) after sending numerous people to the wrong part of Prague, her manager stepped in but other than that, it was a nice, clean hotel with a comfy bed, bathrobes, and decent gym, plenty of outlets and cheerful colors! I would recommend staying here just for the breakfast bar and the gym!

Yelp
You can sum this hotel up as a solid decent. It's modern design and convenient location were the highlights. Pros: - Centrally located in Prague 1, walking distance to the main square and event district area. - Hotel driver that does well priced airport pick up and drop offs. - Staff all spoke clear English. - Breakfast included with room was decent, extras like coca cola light wasn't charged as an extra. - Complimentary free WiFi throughout the hotel for guests only. Ba-boom! Cons: - Only one ironing board to share with every other patron. Yep, just the one ironing board. It was like iron board roulette. - Not 24/7 gym, seriously it's not that difficult to do...everything is already card scanned controlled..do it for a gym! - There's two versions of the Czech power point, this hotel had the most uncommon version. So we had bought the wrong power adapter. This was positively off setted when they told us they had a universal power adapter available in the room. Just one though. - Dry cleaning completely ruined my delicate expensive clothing. Dis-a-point-ted. Don't do it! - No restaurant, just a breakfast area. Go find a nice restaurant within the city! All in all the hotel was clean and tidy, (you barely saw the cleaning staff) with modern style design..obviously going for the hipper & business crowd. Because we booked online we received two free cocktail vouchers for the hotel bar which is in the lobby. For just under $300AUD per night I expected more space for our king size bed room but I guess they're working with minimal real estate. Most buildings are traditional and ancient old looking and then this random modern establishment.. If only they had an ice machine per floor.....

Yelp
Our stay in Prague was seamless at Hotel Josef. We found the staff the be friendly and very helpful, giving us maps upon arrival and holding our bags before our room became available. The location was ideal and very close to several restaurants that came recommended to us. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the astrological clock and the St Charles bridge. The rooms are not luxurious but well equipped with everything you'll need for your stay, including adaptors and a complimentary mini bar. The bed was comfortable, water temperature and pressure was amazing, and rooms quite. Couldn't ask for more! Thanks for a great stay!

Yelp
From the beginning to the very end of my stay the service was impeccable. I am from California and I have noticed that CZech doesn't place any importance on customer service. But at Hotel Josef the customer service was amazing and a breath of fresh air. Not just one shift or one person all of them : Nick, Josephine (the best bartender), Vasek, Juliana, Mohammed, Marina, and Lampros. They knew where the best clubs and attractions were outside of the hotel. They made sure anything I needed was taken care of: coffee, spa room, alcoholic beverages, room service etc. They were so friendly and made me feel like family. My room Was very clean and spacious. It also had a nice view of the city and some complimentary drinks and a travel adapter which was very handy. There was a taxi driver on standby for my trip to the airport. The location was right in the heart of the city. Everything was excellent the absolute best hotel experience I have had in Prague and I've been coming there for years! If you are in Prague stay here you won't regret it!

Yelp
Boutique hotel catering to business travellers and tourists alike. (Free internet access for all guests included.) Excellent central location and friendly staff. The only minus is the relatively small size of the rooms.

Yelp
Loved this hotel! The location was amazing, right in the heart of old town near delicious restaurants, historic sites and nightlife. The staff is beyond friendly and the breakfast is extensive, fresh and yummy. For example, I made my own apple, pear and carrot juice while waiting for my cappuccino, ordered a freshly baked croissant with marscarpone cheese and berry compote and two eggs over easy. My husband filled up on the meat and cheeses and ordered the eggs Benedict. All sooo good. We also took advantage of the 730 jog on Friday morning. It was rough getting out of bed but well worth it! The city is quiet and gorgeous at that time and Martin was super friendly and knowledgeable. We highly recommend!

Yelp
I would definitely come back to Prague and would definitely stay in this hotel again. We came early and was able to check in right away. Which made a big difference because we were so tired and I had to recharge. The people at the front desk are so helpful with everything. You should definitely ask the front desk to book you a car service to go to the airport, you will not get ripped off and the most convenient. Trust me on this!

Yelp
We liked the hotel. Check-in was fairly simple. Their garage for our rental car was easy. Our room was one of the top 2 floors with a view facing behind the hotel. Ours was on the 7th Floor. We had a terrace that included 2 chairs and a table. There are motorized window screens, and manual pull curtains. The bathroom was like a luxury hotel with bathroom amenities provided along with 2 white robes, and 'disposable' thin white slippers. It was a quiet room and the water pressure was good and hot. The bathroom did not have an exhaust fan and became full of steam quickly. The lighting in the room and bathroom were both great. Reading lights in the headboard were good. There were 2 bottles of complimentary still water daily along with a Nescafe machine. We did not use the stocked minibar. Being a hotel that is 12 years old our room felt very modern and like it was refreshed in the last 2 years. The hotel Wi-Fi Internet was adequate in the room & lobby and what I would expect in a hotel for shared bandwidth at different times of the day. No I would not plan on downloading HD movies from iTunes on it. All of the staff were very helpful and pleasant. We did not eat at the hotel restuarant or use the gym. The only negative things about our hotel room were minor. The room did not come with a steamiron & ironing board. After a call one was brought to the room. We were to asked to leave it in the hallway when done. I had to call each day to request an iron and ironing board. The hair blowdryer turns off after under than 1 minute due to a fuse that clicks off. After some time you can turn it back on but it is frustrating. After telling the front desk of the issue so they could repair it we were told about the fuse and that it is a hotel-wide issue with the blowdryers that are installed. If you have thick long hair bring your own hairdryer. We never turned on the TV but they had a DVD player i think. The fancy coffee machine was really a nice touch. We would recommend the hotel if you want a *X*X*X** star hotel and this price range is good for you. Yes we would stay here again.

Yelp
This hotel does not keep it's word on it's written policies and will try to scam you out of money however possible. The staff at this hotel is unreasonable and insensitive to their guest's safety and needs. While in line to check into our room, there was a gas line explosion in front of the hotel. Police rushed in to escort us out immediately as there was a risk of a massive explosion. They ended up roping off the entire neighborhood. Unable to check in and fearful of the ginormous cloud of gas billowing outside the hotel, we checked into another hotel. When we called Hotel Josef to cancel our reservation, they refused to uphold their NORMAL cancellation policy let alone take into consideration the extraordinary circumstances of the gas leak. They refused to refund us any money even though their stated cancellation policy entitled us to at least a part refund. We had to have Expedia call and argue with them twice for them to finally honor their own cancellation policy. They were rude, unreasonable, and never once apologized for the potentially lethal situation occurring at their hotel. I'm usually a very easy, flexible hotel guest and have never complained about a hotel before, but this was absurd.

Yelp
From check-in to check-out two days later, the Hotel Josef Prague was a wonderful experience. It is very close to the Old Square (5 minute walk) and to 3 different subway stations (7-10 minute walks). Aesthetically, the building is modern in comparison to those surrounding it, and the modern vibes exude from the lobby to the 6 floors of rooms. There are two houses- I'd suggest asking for the orange house, as it is behind the building on the street, and possibly quieter. Our room was very quiet. One thing to know about the room is that, since it is modern as well, the bathroom is confined only by glass. This means that if one is going to undress for the shower, anyone in the room will see this. For couples and honeymooners this is absolutely fine, but if you're sharing with a friend beware. Similarly, you can hear everything that is going on in the bathroom, I mean, every little sound. Again, if you're close with the person you're sharing with no worries. I was looking forward to writing the review regarding the staff at this hotel. They were so friendly and pleasant, helpful and knowledgable. Although the breakfast was a little bit more expensive than a cafe (which are a short walk in any direction from the hotel), the breakfast staff exhibited some of the best hospitality I have seen in my travels. They were attentive, pleasant, clearly trying to give the best possible service. With a buffet and menu items for ordering, your stomach will not be grumbling. Additionally, the cleaning staff gave each room two complimentary waters every day. Overall, I would absolutely recommend the Hotel Josef to anyone visiting Prague and interested in being close to the Old Square and Jewish Quarter. Thank you, Hotel Josef!

Yelp
Calm, elegant, minimalist boutique hotel in a central location. Lots of glass (don't come here with dreams of romance and medieval staircases). A good choice.

Yelp
In checking in for our room they informed us that there was a problem on the floor and the smoke detectors were not working so they couldn't give us a room. So they sent us to another hotel that they said was equally nice, but it was not. The bed was terrible, the sink gurgled all night long and the hotel was seriously out of date. We wasted close to 2 hours messing around with switching hotels yesterday and another hour today going back to the Josef by the time to you unpack and repack everything back up. For our troubles they upgraded our room, I'd hate to see what the original looked like and gave us free breakfast. Sorry but I'm not impressed and I don't believe there was a smoke alarm problem to begin with as lots of other people were checking in the same time we were, I think they oversold their rooms. Beware if you get the smoke detector story and certainly demand more then a crummy breakfast for your troubles.
