"Set in the New Aquitaine town of Uzerche, the so-called “pearl of the Limousin,” was a rather fortress-like boarding school with a commanding view. Today, as a luxurious small hotel, it’s a member of Les Collectioneurs, and is known as the Hôtel Joyet de Maubec. Much of its history has been preserved, and is juxtaposed in vibrant contrast with modern elements; rooms contain original features, contemporary interventions, and in many cases extraordinary views. This is the most excellent hotel in a superb location. Rooms are well appointed, the staff are courteous and extremely helpful. As for the food ... why is the restaurant not awarded a Michelin star or two. This is the second (but not last) time I have stayed here and it has never disappointed me.

Uzerche is a beautiful little town and a suitable setting for this wonderful hotel. We stayed 2 nights this year after a short 1-night stop last year and had a super stay. The food in the restaurant is superb and close to Michelin standard so the prices are in fact very reasonable. We will be back!

We had a small but lovely, clean room overlooking the delightful Uzerche, one of the most beautiful villages in France. Definitely the best hotel in Uzerche. I checked them all on internet and on site! The menu in the restaurant is small but everything is delicious, the menu changes every month. All the members of staff were efficient, friendly and helpful.

Excellent hotel and restaurant with helpful, friendly service. We stayed one night to break a journey through France, having dinner and breakfast. Lots of special touches in the room: powerful shower, fluffy robes, heated bathroom mirror. Cooked to order bacon and eggs for breakfast was the cherry on the top of the cake. We will return.

Stayed for one night as a stop over while travelling south. Hotel is in a delightful, quiet location at the top of the old town. Do save some time to look around Uzerche as it is well worth it. The welcome at the hotel was warm and all of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good and the hotel’s restaurant serves top quality food at good value for money prices. Definitely one to visit again at some point and would happily recommend it to others.

The owners have done a splendid job in modernising the chateau, and creating a comfortable sophisticated environment. We were welcomed and looked after throughout. Being perched at the top of a hill overlooking a deep valley, the views are great.|Dinner in the restaurant was also a really good experience. I hope we can find a way to return.....
