When we got off the boat here, we went for a drink in Hotel Julsø’s restaurant. It was so lovely. Staff were really polite and spoke English really well. The view was also absolutely stunning. Great location, amazing staff, tasty food and drinks. Thank you!

This historic hotel is on the lake shore below Himmelbjerget and is a stopping off point for the pleasure boats which cruise the surrounding lakes and rivers. There is plenty of outdoor seating for fine weather, and the hotel is an attractive and ornate wooden building. There is a kiosk to one side but its worth going inside to main dining room. It is spacious with a very high ceiling and Victorian fixtures and fittings. There are brass lamps and historic photos around the walls, and if you can get a window seat there are panoramic views. I stopped for a cup of tea, just to enjoy the atmosphere of the place and the views.

Beautiful old fashioned building by the side of lake Julso overlooking the quayside. Also the start/finish point for the short walk up to the summit of Himmelbjeret. We stopped post walk for a well earned local beer and ice cream while waiting for the ferry back to Silkeborg. Not excessively expensive for Denmark and they do serve quality and the view is priceless. Lots of seating both inside and out, staffed by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended.

Food - dishes as well as cake - is great, prices are fair considering the location (by the lake, beautiful scenery)... However the service is awful, slow and bordering on being rude. This opinion is based on several visits so seems like the style rather than bad luck.

Stayed here a whole afternoon and evening during a wedding. Fantastic view from the restaurant. We also went out on a lovely boat trip from the pier. Very picturesque to get both the hotel and the Himmelbjerget on the same shot. The food we got from the restaurant was also very good. Highly recommend this place.

Nice setting and most of the food was OK. Unfortunately the shrimp inside the "Stjerneskud" was raw. Many apologies was offered by the waitress but they still charged full price for it.

Terrible service, we were 8 people and we were not allowed to move 2 tables in the outside area together. We had one vegetarian in our group and it was not possible to get a vegetarian version of one of the main dishes, the only available vegetarian option was an appetiser and not saturating. The food was ok but nothing amazing.

Can't attest to anything other than the fact that when we tried to order something the waiter gesticulated rudely that he was too busy to be bothered. We promptly left.

Yelp
By far the best meal we had in Denmark! The restaurant near Himmelbjerget and right on Lake Julsø, and the restaurant is part of the historic Hotel Julsø. The view can be extraordinary if it is not raining and the food is fresh, wonderfully creative and I would love to go back the next time I am in Denmark. If you would like to look at the menu go to http://www.hotel-julso.dk/ If you take one of the boats that go around the lake, get off at the restaurant and indulge yourself. It is worth it and I found the prices very reasonable. This is an experience you will not want to miss!
