Hotel Kaps Place

This is my 4th visit to Kaps Place, three times in 2010 and now again in 2019. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are in bright happy colors, the breakfast is great. There is also a kitchenette on the main floor should you wish to cook for yourself. They work hard to help you with whatever you need (sightseeing ideas, directions, restraurant ideas etc). Was happy to see an employee who had been there when I was last there 9 years ago. The place is Very clean. Really love these people and appreciate all that they do to make their guests' experience wonderful.

Our mission group has been staying at Kaps Place before and after our mission week in San Jose for the last 5 years. It is a quaint, beautiful, and unique place nestled in San Jose. The location is convenient to walk to shops and markets. The rooms are clean, comfortable and no 2 rooms are the same! Every room has a private bath. It’s bright and cheerful with family like service. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and delicious. I look forward to our next visit soon.

We stayed two times at Kaps Place during our vacation in Costa Rica. The second time there was no running water until late at night, that was slightly inconvenient, but the next day everything was functioning again. ||The rooms are basic and clean, the breakfast was good, the staff is very helpful and polite. We spent most of our time in the common area, which was the highlight of Kaps Place, it was very spacious and cosy and very "pura vida" style, I really liked it.||Overall it offered great value for money.

Kapsplace is a homey oasis in San Jose. I have been visiting Costa Rica a few times per year (for mission work) for the past five years and every time I land at Kaps I know I am home. This family owned business is run with integrity and love. Karolina, Marino and Jose Luis REALLY care about providing everything their guests need. Unobtrusive but helpful at the same time.They all are passionate about hospitality and excellence. If you are bringing a team to CR, then you should absolutely reserve this location. The accommodations are simple but comfortable, restful, colorful and fun. Beds are comfortable and showers are HOT with good pressure. The kitchen is ready to meet your needs. My 30 person team is always excited to get to Kaps. Within walking distance of the restaurant district if your tastebuds crave something unique. Karolina can also arrange airport transportation which is so helpful in CR. (Promised rental cars are not always available when you arrive in high season.). Pura Vida!

This was my second time staying at Kaps place. I came back because of the nice experience I had last year. The rooms are nice and clean, the staff is always there to help you and they have a great restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast is huge, great choice of fresh juices, coffee/tea, gallo pinto, pancakes, eggs etc. Next time in San José, I will stay with Kaps again!

Our family really enjoyed staying at Kaps Place. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are very comfortable. It's a great hotel alternative for families with kids. There's lots of indoor common areas for kids to play and free high speed wifi all around the property. We've already recommended it to a friend!

We came to San Jose after staying a month in Cuba, which was rather shocking in regard to price/performance and that you always had to negotiate about everything. So probably this review is a bit biased ;) About the hostel: from outside it looks quite small and uninviting, but once inside it changes to a small Oase in this - in my taste - dirty city. It always smells wonderful, the staff was always very friendly to us and we could ask them everything we wanted. Best service was that they made photocopies of our passports at 23.30, which we needed to enter Panama, even though we had to pay 1000CRC, how awesome is that? :) the common area with hammocks, billiard and table-tennis was also quite nice and we really enjoyed it. The room was clean and and fulfilled our needs and was quite cheap! Overall we would go here the next time we are in San Jose in 100 of 100 cases :P

Front desk staff/staff was great. Helped us out with a Sim card issue which really wasn't their problem. Beds we're comfortable and breakfast was awesome including a nice girl that made eggs anyway you liked them! Wouldn't definitely stay again. They only had one hammock though...
