Hotel Kastel

Stayed just one night on a cycle tour. Clean, comfortable and quiet. Fabulous location right on top of the hill. Amazing views. Good breakfast. Nice to have a kettle as this seems to be a rarity?

​"Kaštel" is a great little hotel with excellent service. However, I strongly advise avoiding their restaurant. What was once a gem has unfortunately become a tourist trap, serving atrocious food at prices you would expect from a Michelin-starred establishment. Within a 15-minute radius, you'll find far better places to enjoy truffle dishes.

If I could give less than one star, I would. Waiting 15 minutes in front of hotel at a table. Served people who arrived after us, directly next to us. Several waiters went past and completely ignored us multiple times. Very very rude. Better to go to pod voltum. Excellent service. 18:00, 02/09/25

We stayed at the Hotel Kastel for a couple of nights as part of an InnTravel walking holiday. Situated in the hilltop town of Motovun, it offers splendid views, although the climb up is quite steep.|Our room offered a comfortable bed, and a decent sized bathroom. Breakfast was included, and whilst the staff were rather overrun, the food was good, as was the picnic we were provided for our walk. We ate at the hotel one night – a nice meat platter, outshone to be honest by the sunset from the hilltop.|The spa is downstairs, and we enjoyed the pool after our walks and a massage too. Overall, a good spot and recommend the hotel, even if they are seemingly a bit short of staff.

The furniture is very outdated and for that price not acceptable. The bathroom was very old. There was no utensils for showering as normally offered in such a price class. We had absolutely no view from our room. In the morning we woke up to an ant invasion which was just disgusting. The breakfast was ok.||There are a lot of other cheaper and better places to stay in Motovun.

I had a wonderful week here - everyone was friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and clean and I felt quite at home - in a castle! Very relaxing place to stay, gorgeous surroundings, lovely food - I would go there again in a heartbeat.

This location and venue are magical. They took care of our every need for our wedding and guests. The guests could not stop commenting on how perfect everything was. When we renew our wedding vows in 40 years we will be back!
