A one of the most amazing hotel experience! It’s made of old prison and result is wonderful! We had a superior room where we had a really nice and big bathroom. Room was decorated stylish and with high quality. The room had also books what was very nice detail. Hotel is great experience and lot to see. You can see a history of the building - there is two originals cells what you can go to see and also a photograph exhibition. You can book a private sauna time and use a gym. Restaurant had very good food and breakfast was great! We will go back, for sure! Very friendly and professional service and everything worked perfectly - thank you.

Google
The hotel has a campaign for breakfast at the rate of 17e per adult. Comparing to the weekend breakfast & brunch price in average, this price is quite competitive. This is the reason why we decided to try it out as locals (not staying at the hotel). The breakfast selection is at the average level and I liked the mushroom taste quite much. The campaign is valid till the end of this month.

Elaborately designed and implemented renovation. Peaceful. Beds comfortable and soft enough for me. Nice bath in the room. Comprehensive breakfast. Interesting interior. Excellent servive. Location close to see and city center. Tram stop in 50 meters. Enjoyed! A pity that this wasn't the situation during the prison time.

Very nice boutique hotel. Very novel, being that it was an old prison.. Restaurant was very nice, serving local Finnish food. Had an evening meal here and also very good breakfast with lots of choices. Would definitely recommend the hotel and the restaurant. Loved the sauna in our room..

Super cool hotel in an old prison. I was shocked by how quiet it was, despite the very open hallways. I would highly recommend getting the Junior Suite with the private sauna. It's worth the simple luxury of getting to use the sauna on demand, especially in the colder seasons. The hotel also offers complimentary access to their main sauna on the weekend mornings to guests. The best way I could describe the hotel breakfast is 'hip' 😂 it's standard fare (eggs, bacon, yogurt, pancakes) with cool twists in presentation and a Finnish flair. Adored the DIY loose leaf tea section.

• Great place overall. • Tram right in front of the hotel. • The history of this building has been well preserved. • Breakfast had a good variety. • Rooms are fantastic. • The cleaning staff did an outstanding job every single day. • Grocery store nearby. Thank you all for your hard work. It's been a pleasure staying here. Can recommend!

The hotel staff were very helpful with information for the local area and the hotel is nicely decorated. The breakfast is served in the restaurant as a buffet and they offer a buffet style lunch on week days as well. I stayed in a classic room with a queen bed. The room was small compared to other rooms I've stayed in but fine for one person. I'd recommend looking at a larger room if you are staying with another person as you might find that there is not much room to move around.

Google
Extremely interesting setting and history of the hotel, comfortable and quiet rooms. Breakfast has excellent choice and quality, dinner at the restaurant is also great. Only downside are the smart TVs in which the Chromecasts are not set up properly so you cannot relax and stream something after a long day exploring the city - but that's not enough of a nuisance to bring down the rating.

Yelp
My Fulbright Team spent dinner at this hotel as part of our travel and research culmination of our stay in Finland. This former prison has been renovated and transformed into a new and exciting landscape with Finnish touch and Nordic creativity. Our gourmet dinner was exquisitely presented which included reindeer steaks and freshly cooked white fish. Desserts consisted of fruits and accompanied by red, white and Finnish wines. The restaurant dishes was a bonus to the beautiful reconstruction and rebuild of this former building used for criminals. If you happen to be in Helsinki, drop by this beautiful treasure; it will be worth your time.

Yelp
Stay in a remodeled prison?! Yes please! This is such a cool hotel with a fascinating history, really neat architecture and preservation of the old cells, and also a fantastic breakfast. Seriously, one of the best breakfast spreads that we had during our two week trip in Finland. They also offer on site parking which is a plus. Make sure to swing by the old cells that were not renovated and see the old parts of the building. Very cool!

Yelp
Wonderful hotel that was an old prison. The renovation is very modern and sleek yet well preserved with its rich yet haunting history. The hotel staff was great, especially the head of concierge, Sami. I learned so much about the prison and Helsinki. The room was extremely comfortable, the hotel was very quiet and the location is in a cute quarter of Katajanokka. The hotel is easy to get to by public transit and Uber. There's a restaurant on premise that serves a great hotel breakfast and a fantastic dinner. It's a small walking distance to the middle of town. There's also a convenient bus that runs frequently and its right outside the hotel. A walking trail with a view of the breakers and the sea is also nearby and a perfect way to get in a workout. Everything about this hotel location inside and outside was great and I will definitively stay here again the next time I visit Helsinki!

Yelp
Great hotel slightly off the beaten path in the center of Helsinki. Located about a 7 minute walk from the railway station, the surroundings are calm and perfect for families or couples looking for a nice relaxing spot. By the way the #4 tram, which takes you straight into town, stops right in front of the hotel. We booked 3 rooms for our family of 6 and they were modern, clean and well kept. Service was exquisite and the staff super friendly and helpful. The kids enjoyed the whole aura around the hotel having been a prison and looked mightily scared when stepping into the group cell from the early 1900s located in the basement. The best validation for the hotel came from my 9-year old as we were going to breakfast after our second night as he out of the blue stated "I really like this hotel"

Yelp
This is a very unique hotel. Set apart a bit from central Helsinki, it's situated in a former prison (which thankfully closed its doors in 2002 and was renovated into a hotel). It's now a spacious, friendly place. The thick concrete walls make the rooms very quiet; most of the rooms span 3 former cells with their walls broken down. Down in the basement they serve an excellent and complete breakfast, including ice cream in the summer; there's also an example there of an original prison cell, and you can see the contrast between that small, spartan cell and the large, accommodating rooms as they are now. Certainly the nicest prison I've ever seen. I'd definitely stay here again.

Yelp
The hotel is situated centrally enough to all the places you might want to walk to or just wander around - or you can get a tram which is right outside the hotel. The staff were always happy to direct you if you had a specific location and Hand you a map. The hotel has a prison theme which works well and all the rooms have cell doors and thick walls so it was very quiet . The breakfast buffet is big and delicious .

Yelp
Wow. Absolutely loved this hotel. The room was spacious, stylish and oh sooooo comfy. The bed was so luxurious. The tub and bathroom wonderful. My son said the sofabed was really uncomfortable but I've never met a sofabed that was different. I just adored the room and the hotel. The breakfast was delicious. Lots of choices and all very good. Great way to start the day. The location was perfect. We took tram 4 which stops right in front of the hotel. But Helsinki is super walkable and we walked to town center and back today and its super conveniently located. The only bad experience was dealing with one particular front desk employee. We dealt with 3 employees at the front desk. One who worked at night who checked us in was delightful, one during the day was fine and another during the day was so grumpy and just had a "couldnt be bothered attitude". Too bad because this was so close to being a perfect hotel experience. Soooo close!

Yelp
A very nice hotel! Definitely worth a visit. The hotel has beautiful hallways, staircases and last but not least rooms! The hotel staff is kind and helpfull. The staff is dressed in striped shirts, so that they look like inmates - which is fun! The rooms are modern, clean, cosy and well decorated. The breakfast buffet is well tasting, big and looks delicious. The restaurant is great and good looking. The atmosphere of the old prison is keep well, but in the cosyness the a hotel should have is still there. The missing star is because of the free wifi, it doesn't work in the room, only in the restaurant and hallways. All in all a great hotel!
