Good hotel, about a 5-minute drive from the Black Sand Beach, in a very quiet area. Rooms are very spacious and clean. Breakfast is quite good. The gym is basically nothing, but they do have a hot bathtub outside, which is a nice touch.

The room was good, spacious enough for two, and had a hair dryer. The staff were helpful, but it took forever to check in while others were checking in because they require a lot of information to be filled out. Keep this in mind. It's 5 minutes outside of Vik, which was nice, and a drive further east will lead to some very open and empty fields to view the night sky. I recommend the hot tub! It was really nice to have after a long day.

Mixed bag of a hotel - mostly negative. First impression: incredibly understaffed. We waited 30+ min in line to check in. The lonesome check in staff was hardly sympathetic to the long line of people waiting. No one came to help him either. The exterior gives unfinished base camp. We booked the Plus room and the interior is decently modern and clean, but comes with cheap fixtures. No bed baseboard. Room is chilly. The bathroom smells musty and floods as soon as you run the shower, and for some reason, the hand soap doubles as shampoo, conditioner, AND body wash. No mini fridge nor phone in the room. Wifi is good. The value for money is not it. Would not stay here again.

Nicely decorated interior, clean. Checking in and out was super fast. The only issue we experienced was that the heater in the room didn't heat up the room, so we were given a portable one, which worked out great. The complimentary breakfast was incredible, so many foods to choose from. Location is great, 5 minutes from downtown of Vik.

Breakfast buffet has excellent fresh baked bread and high quality dinner and drinks. Setting is lovely immersed in mountains and water with swans, unlike other hotels that face gas stations. But our room is very cold at night. I think there was a problem with the heating. The floor was cold the whole night, both nights. I would still recommend and stay again as the location is perfect and lovely. Staff and service were efficient in meeting other needs.

We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Katla at the edge of Vik while road tripping in October. We checked in right at 3PM and our room was clean and warm. The accomodations were simple and our building seemed more neely renovated. There is a hot tub and sauna but we didn't try it out. We opted to do the dinner buffet and there was a nice variety of items to try and local dishes as well. Breakfast was included and was also delicious.

Spent two nights in two different rooms. Standard: WAY too small without the amenities to make up for it. No shampoo or conditioner; just a generic thin all-in-one soap. I personally slept great, but my travel partner very much disliked the seersucker bedding and did not sleep too comfortably because of it. Spent too long trying to sign out of a Japanese user's YouTube account, but after that very much appreciated the SmartTVs. Breakfast was fantastic, probably the best from our Iceland trip. The hotel was in a great vicinity to the town of Vik and a perfect stopping point when heading towards Diamond Beach and Glacier Lagoon. Standard Plus: For only around $25 more, the upgraded room gave us a lot more space and a bigger bathroom, but still did not provide us with the much-wanted shower products. Luckily, we bought some at Kronan the night of the previous stay. Everything regarding service still applies.

Great location. Pleasant people, complimentary breakfast was delicious. Spacious room, good vibes. Make sure to bring your own soap/shampoo/conditioner. Shower was finicky, lots of water everywhere. One pillow (with a somewhat scratchy waffle texture) per person. Would stay again!
