The advertisements and price gave the impression of a luxury resort experience, but this was simple hotel stay. Restaurant was nice for dinner with the buffet. Solid breakfast spread included. Rooms are spacious and the curtains kept out the light well. The location is also very convenient outside Vik along the ring road. Unfortunately, just not quite the value I had been hoping for. It did have hot tub, sauna, and fitness room - which was all nice.

This hotel gets nothing but absolute praise from me. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out Hotel Katla was an absolutely amazing experience through and through. The staff during check in were super kind, and the room was actually quite big with a really nice, modern bathroom. Beds were comfortable but quite narrow, which is fine. The complimentary breakfast was really nice. Big dining space and a pretty good selection for food options, with really good tea. Check out was fast and easy. 10/10 hotel for sure!

The surroundings of our room were absolutely beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery. The night was quite windy, and by morning, a light rain added to the serene atmosphere. The cheerful chirping of birds made the experience even more delightful. Breakfast was excellent, and I especially loved the maple pecan plait—it was absolutely delicious!

Stayed one night in a triple room that appeared to be in one of the newer buildings to the east of the main building. Check-in and check-out were both a breeze and front desk staff were very kind and helpful. Beds were very comfortable, which was super appreciated after a long day of travel and very little sleep. Room had plenty of space for three people and all our luggage. Property is quiet and sound insulation was great. Blackout curtains and ability to crack a window open were nice to have. Breakfast buffet was great with plenty of choices- it was very busy but it didn't appear that anyone had to wait for a table to eat. Bar, hot tub and sauna on site, but didn't use these. Would gladly book here again.

Nice hotel nestled right in the mountains of Vik, a little outside of town.||The rooms were a bit small and basic, and the wifi was sometimes slow/spotty. The hallways were also a bit dark and sometimes the lights just didn't turn on as you walked through them. The buildings seemed a little aged. Still, we had what we needed for a night (my family of 4 was split among two rooms, which were cozy and comfortable).||The breakfast was good too! But the best thing about this hotel is the outdoor geothermal hot tub and sauna in between some of the buildings. It was a really nice place to relax, chat with other travellers and enjoy the mountain views!

Overall decent stay, but a little pricier vs. other places we stayed in Iceland. Rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable (which were most important for us) but the bathroom was tiny (smallest of the 6 hotels we stayed at in Iceland), no counter space and there was no way to shower without the entire floor getting soaked. Easy to access with plenty of parking. We thought breakfast was fine, but average compared to other places we stayed in Iceland.

We arrived very late so I didn't take advantage of the hot tub, but my family said it was wonderful. I was not happy with how dark the room was, very few lights and I thought the room was warm and opened windows. The next morning I went to breakfast and was blown away by the buffet spread. It was delicious with lots if options. I would stay again.

The hotel is modern and tastefully decorated. Unfortunately, my mattress was very worn, and the bathroom is tiny with little counter space. The breakfast offers a wide selection, especially for those with a sweet tooth, such as freshly baked waffles. I was disappointed that the breakfast only included filter coffee; a café latte or cappuccino would have cost extra. All in all, a decent hotel with some room for improvement.
