We loved Hotel Katla. They upgraded our room to a beautiful room with walk out doors to the lake and Northern Lights viewing. The room was large and clean. Very comfortable. The view is beautiful and nice for viewing the Northern Lights. We did not eat dinner there but did have cocktails in the comfortable sitting room. Breakfast was very good and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We would stay there again and next time for a longer time so we could use the hot tub and sauna.

Great hotel for exploring this area of Iceland. We booked a superior double, which was on the 1st floor (not ground floor) and had an amazing view through a huge window. There was no fridge in the room though, and the furniture was a bit sparse, but the bed was really comfortable, room was spacious and warm, and had a great shower. The breakfast was 10/10, a large buffet with everything from waffles, cereal, cake and fruit to marinaded herring, cheese and ham, crusty bread and boiled eggs, basically a wide variety. The dining room was spacious and modern, so you don't feel too close to other diners. There was an outside sauna and hot tub although we didn't try them. The evening buffet is 100% recommended, it was again an excellent variety and worth every penny, although the bar was overpriced. It was quite an expensive treat, but really nice to come back to after adventuring and I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel may not look like it from outside at the first glance, but after checking-in we were pleasantly surprised with a very nice room with high ceilings, wood and a tasty interior. The bed was very comfy, we had a quiet night of good sleep and the bathroom was perfect as well. I can also highly recommend the hotel restaurant which offers high quality food for a reasonable value-for-money ratio. We had the dinner buffet and it was outstandingly good. All in all I can highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Situated just 3km from the centre of Vik, Katla Hotel offers breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding mountains. The rooms are spacious, modern, and clean, providing a comfortable and relaxing stay. The staff were friendly and attentive, always willing to assist with any request.||The hotel’s facilities, including a hot tub and sauna, added to the overall experience. The food was excellent, with a high-quality buffet for both breakfast and dinner, along with an à la carte option for added variety.||Overall, this was a fantastic stay, and I’d highly recommend Katla Hotel to anyone travelling through southern Iceland.

Liked · Absolute 10 out of 10! Amazing Hotel! We had a very pleasant stay at Katla Hotel. The staff is great, polite and on point. The facility has a hot tub and sauna. The location is quiet and reserve. Private parking lot. Amazing dinner buffet!||My stay was perfect. My only regret is not staying more days there! I'll definitely say to anyone that I know coming to Iceland to stay here.

The hotel is situated in a great spot for a part way stop-over as you head further east towards the glaciers. Unfortunately I did not get a good night's sleep here. The duvet cover and pillowcases were made in a fabric with a raised pattern that felt a bit rough against my skin generally and was very noticeable against my cheek. In general, it looked and felt like the budget hotel that it is - more so than the other similarly priced places I stayed in Icelend.

The hotel itself was decent. Room was clean, spacious, and very modern looking. What lost me was the disgusting bathroom. Some rooms seem to have nicer bathrooms than others. They put us in an accessible room with an accessible bathroom, which is fine except the shower area had quite a bit of mildew or something as well as some hair. It didn’t actually seem like it had gotten cleaned. The bathroom reminded me of those public bathrooms by swimming pools or in gyms. Needless to say I chose to wear my flip flops in the shower. Other than that, everything else was perfect.

We’ve been traveling the south side of Iceland and have stayed in a few hotels already, and this one is by far our favorite. Beautiful view from our room, the service was very friendly and the food is unforgettable. Wish we would’ve have booked more time here. Also the room was very clean and a comfortable temperature.
