Hótel Kea by Keahotels

I'm pretty sure there is accommodation in Akureyri where hotel guests are treated like hotel guests, where the staff is helpful, friendly and motivated, where the rooms are cosy and not just very small in size, where the heating system in the room works properly, where the hot water in the shower is available after 15-20 minutes of running water, where the washbasin is wide enough to wash both hands at the same time, where there is a little more light other than just the bedside lamp. It would also be helpful if the phone in the room works as otherwise you run down to the reception for each query you may have.||||Our group was celebrating New Year's Eve in this place. It was supposed to be a Gala Dinner. There was no info displayed/available regarding the food menu. Any suggestions how to order a suitable wine? The waitress couldn't bother explaining the served food in her own initiative. If you wanted to know what was on your plate you had to ask. The menu sequence was a little peculiar. The staff did not ask about the cooking level for the meat, it was just served rare - and surprisingly - this is not the first preference of everybody. ||||In this particular night the bar closed at midnight; sharp and on time. Why? I have no clue.||||In summary:||I do not recommend this hotel at all!||Look for alternatives where you are treated in a way you deserve!

Akureyri at the end of November was in the grips of deep winter, with minus 15 degrees celcius. Snow and ice was on the ground. Hotel Kea proved to be comfortable, relaxing and the stay there was enjoyable. This hotel used to house the farmers from the district, who owned the hotel, and met there to organise their affairs, selling their produce etc. So my grandfather was seen in the corridors 70-80 years ago with his colleagues, and this of course added an extra dimension to the experience.

Very nice and comfortable hotel in Akureyri. The room was nice and quiet and the breakfast was good. The staff were friendly and attentive. I had a wonderful time in the north and will definitely return and stay here. Very friendly town but a little expensive

Please note I didn’t get to stay here but did pay for my stay. During a red alert when you are advised to drive during 100 mph winds and storms I requested a refund. The ticket was non-refundable however most hotels understand what quality customer service is in severe weather conditions. Instead this hotel decided that wasn’t important. They kept the money even though I purchased own their website. Also, I got a flat tire on the way trying to make it hence the reason why I canceled. So I can only imagine how horrible of service that could have in person. Book at your risk!!!

The personnel was very nice and helped us beyond what they needed to. Rooms were clean and it was easy to get more towels or whatever you needed by just asking in the reception. We stayed in a triple room and the shower was tiny, so a large person would not be able to shower there. The location couldn't have been better!||The restaurant menu was not the best, but there was plenty of restaurants near by.

Great hotel in a great location. The brasserie for evening dinner wasn't to our liking but the reception staff are very helpful and friendly even over the New year holiday. We did go into the mulaberg bar on NYE for 1 drink, this is a separate business and closed for refurbishment whilst we were there but it didn't seem as friendly as the main hotel.

We had a superior twin room. It was OK but not what you would expect in a 4 star. Positives: Molton and Brown toiletries, clean and staff helpful. Negatives the lobby bar is very cold pillows we're flat, shower was small but the worst think was the pillar in the middle of the room.....we had room 408. Avoid this one!

Stayed here for 2 nights on our ring road trip. Room was very clean and had a view. Hotel is very central so able to wander around the town easily and ate at the restaurant next door. Breakfast had plenty of choice . No hotel parking currently but free parking nearby
