We were really disappointed with our stay at Hotel Kea.
The room was clean but lacked comfort and character. The pillows were extremely flat and uncomfortable.
The shower was just as frustrating, with water temperatures swinging from hot to cold, making it difficult to enjoy or even take a normal shower. If you like surprises, I am sure this isn't the kind you'd prefer.
When we requested basic utensils — bowls, plates, and cutlery — room service told us we’d have to come downstairs to get them ourselves or pay a 2,500 ISK delivery fee. This kind of nickel-and-diming over such a simple request felt very disappointing and unprofessional.
To make matters worse, the hotel is located directly across from a bar that attracts a teenage crowd. The street noise — shouting, fighting, loud music — went on until 2 AM. We barely got any sleep.
We ended up checking out a day early just to get some proper rest elsewhere. If you’re looking for comfort, quiet, or even basic hospitality, we strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
The only positives of this place is that the front desk staff who checked us in were polite and professional, and the housekeeping staff was extremely friendly and polite. The central location is good, but there are other hotel options in the neighbourhood as well.
