So enjoyed staying here. When we arrived the room wasn't ready (even though it was an hour past check-in), but the staff were really apologetic (it was a busy time in the town). No problem, as the hotel is so perfectly located centrally we went out for a look around and a coffee. Once in, the room it self was really lovely, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and there are several great restaurants within a short walking distance. Would highly recommend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A very nice hotel and the staff are very kind and helpful. The rooms were lovely and the beds were comfy. They have a great breakfast with many options. I loved the pickled herring! Will stay here again. Many restaurants in walking distance. Loved it

Booked in here for 2 nights while doing a group tour. We had a small twin room. Very poor lighting. Pillows were far too soft (personal opinion). No alternative so folded a blanket from the wardrobe to put under the pillow which was better. Beds were ok and slept well. Limited storage space. The shower didn't really heat up but was warm. One night we had a group dinner in the hotel and the food was excellent. Close to shops etc, and a fairly good selection of places to eat.

Due to my wife's wheelchair status, we stayed in what was billed as an accessible room. It was extremely compact which made maneuvering the wheelchair difficult. The shower was essentially unusable due to the fact that it was too small to allow someone to assist the wheelchair user. Lighting in the room was inadequate in our opinion. Parking was also an issue but we were able to work it out. Breakfast was good except that the scrambled eggs were cold. This might be the best there is in Akureyri but if we come back, I would at least look at alternatives

This hotel has the best downtown location of any Akureyri hotel. It's got a fantastic breakfast option as well as decent lunch and dinner offerings. Most of Akureyri's restaurants are within an easy walking distance and there's a good cafe just across the street. ||I stayed there for three nights in June 2025 and everything was perfect. You can have the sheets changed every day if you want to or not, depending on your environmental concern.||There are a few parking spaces by the hotel but ask reception for parking tips if all the spaces are taken.

We were really disappointed with our stay at Hotel Kea. The room was clean but lacked comfort and character. The pillows were extremely flat and uncomfortable. The shower was just as frustrating, with water temperatures swinging from hot to cold, making it difficult to enjoy or even take a normal shower. If you like surprises, I am sure this isn't the kind you'd prefer. When we requested basic utensils — bowls, plates, and cutlery — room service told us we’d have to come downstairs to get them ourselves or pay a 2,500 ISK delivery fee. This kind of nickel-and-diming over such a simple request felt very disappointing and unprofessional. To make matters worse, the hotel is located directly across from a bar that attracts a teenage crowd. The street noise — shouting, fighting, loud music — went on until 2 AM. We barely got any sleep. We ended up checking out a day early just to get some proper rest elsewhere. If you’re looking for comfort, quiet, or even basic hospitality, we strongly recommend staying elsewhere. The only positives of this place is that the front desk staff who checked us in were polite and professional, and the housekeeping staff was extremely friendly and polite. The central location is good, but there are other hotel options in the neighbourhood as well.

I really enjoyed my night at Kea Hotel. The staff was extremely kind with my 2 year daughter and the helped us with everything needed. Room were big enough, elevator well working. Breakfast was amazing, with many type of food, self service type. Furthermore they offered to fill our water tanks.

I stayed here for two nights and I really enjoyed the central location. Being right in the center of Akureyri was convenient and fun. It was quiet and easy to walk to plenty of restaurants. One downside is that there is no dedicated parking at this hotel, but the staff were extremely helpful in finding parking right around the corner. I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re staying in Akureyri!
