Hotel Kong Carl

Great hotel in the centre of town. Quirky hotel as it's an old building but it has been tastefully modernized. Pet friendly which makes it a winner for us. Stayed between Christmas and New year December 24, and there was a large party in, but we were given a private dining room to enjoy some peace and quiet. The menu is limited (no vegetarian option) but the quality of food was very good. Stayed here a few times, and will no doubt stay again.

Lovely hotel in the centre of town. Rooms are all well proportioned and clean. The restaurant has a limited menu but quality of food is always good. We have stayed here quite a few times and it never lets us down. ||We travel with dogs, and the they are always welcomed.

Very accommodating reception clerks to help you find things to do and see while visiting Sandefjord. FYI: there’s no lift (the hotel was built in the 1600s and has not been retrofitted for an elevator). This hotel is historic and if that’s the vibe you’re looking for, you’ll definitely get it here. 100% cotton sheets on comfortable beds with fluffy duvets. The pillows weren’t great but they were adequate. The rooms are kinda small and do not have space for medium-large suitcases, which is good because I doubt you will want to haul a large/heavy suitcase up the stairs anyway. Climate control in the rooms consists of a window and a small, oscillating fan. There were radiators in the rooms, but we stayed in summer so no heat was needed. The rooms each have a television, a desk area with kettle, tea, and instant coffee available. The Kong Carl also serves a phenomenal breakfast in the dining room and offers afternoon tea/coffee that you can enjoy on the patio in front of the hotel. The surrounding area is beautiful. Loads of greenery, parks, boats, restaurants, whaling museum, and shopping within walking distance from the hotel. Friendly people everywhere and a great place to visit if you want to relax and escape from an urban lifestyle.

Me and my family stayed for two nights at Kong Carl, and ate a lovely dinner in the restaurant the first night. Animal friendly, and the rooms are tastefully decorated with newly renovated bathrooms. In addition, the history of the Hotel can be seen throughout the halls, reception and exterior of the building, makes you feel like you are taking a trip back in time! One of the employees, Selim, was very kind in helping my parents, along with another guest. Their cars were stuck in the cramped parking lot, and he made sure to help us move our cars so that we could exit without any problems. He also mixed us some lovely drinks the night before! The epitome of great service, and all done with a kind attitude! Breakfast is also very nice, we are definitely returning to Kong Carl in the future!

Stayed here for a night in May. The hotel is a beautiful old building tastefully decorated to keep its character. Travelling solo and had a comfortable single bed. The location is fairly central to Sandefjord centre and to the train station. The breakfast was very good with a high standard and choice.|Lovely place to stay.

Great stay in this hotel for 1 night . First floor room overlooking the entrance but no noise at all. Very tastefully decorated room with looks like a new bathroom suite only just gone in . The breakfast we had was first class with so much to choose from , including gluten free !!! The staff were very friendly when checking in and out plus allowed us to leave our bags there all day as we had a late flight . Couldn’t ask for a better stay !!

The room itself was very nice. Quite large with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was also good with a nice shower. However, there was a quite noticeable unpleasant odour in the bathroom. Hence only four stars for the room. Service great and the location is good. Breakfast was very good and available earlier than the stated opening hours on Saturday morning.

A hotel with history going back hundreds of years! We loved our stay! No AC in our room though. Bathroom is a bit tiny.
