Considering how expensive it is and the fact that it's a Michelin key hotel, it failed to meet expectations.
Food: Bland and disappointing. We ate breakfast once and skipped it afterwards as opposed to the previous hotel a couple of hours away in Tyrol where I was just at that had amazing food and breakfast that I looked forward to eating every day! The jams tasted really sugary as did the sweets offered during lunch. The coffee was terrible, the oranges used in the fresh juice press didn't have great flavor. There where a couple of decent main course dishes like the veal in puff pastry and the deserts where generally very good. Some of the main course portions like the fish where much smaller than other options offered on the same night. No dessert offerings at the food bar! The female wait staff where friendly and pleasant but some of the male wait staff where cold and bordering on rude. One of the kitchen employees had a cart out and was preparing to begin removing items from the salad bar at around 7:50pm before dessert was even served and was scolded by an older staff member.
Rooms: The room was located in one of the older buildings but the room has been updated with a mix of modern touches. The hallway was smattered with paint touch-ups that make it look like something out of a dirty motel 6. The chair in my room was loose and felt like it would fall apart at any time. The hair dryer in the room is by far the heaviest and worst hair dryer I have ever used! I did ask for a different one and they did provide one the following morning. The shower control for the water temperature kept getting stuck and was scalding hot until eventually the knob seemed to catch and properly adjust the temperature. The pillows where all soft but very comfortable for me and the bed was fine. The coffee in the room was terrible, it was a lungo Nespresso pod and could not have been more bitter!
Service: Tepid and inexperienced. The lady that checked us into the hotel was very nice but stated she was new and could not explain some basic details about the hotel such as what the "Signature Evening on Sunday" entailed. The bartender was also very nice but had only been there for a week and couldn't really tell us anything about the property. Much of the staff seemed limited in hospitality experience and didn't command the level of service acumen one expects from a hotel of this caliber. Most of the staff did appear to be working very hard but most of them are lacking that typical warm hospitality that I have found elsewhere in the region and in nearby Tyrol.
Spa and Wellness: The "atmosphere" is amazing, the other wellness areas are great as well! But the spa staff....they where all pleasant but some of them seemed aloof while others appeared franticly busy. There was no feeling of ownership in the Spa. For example, I booked the private spa and upon arrival one of the staff members told another one about the private spa needing arranging with fruit and champagne and such and they all scurried off to get things ready, 10 minutes later one of them communicated to another that the Finnish sauna was not working so they called for a maintenance person to come fix it. 10 minutes later, one of the spa staff came to inform me of the issues and to apologized for the wait. We began our private spa 30 minutes later than expected and by the time the Finnish sauna was at temperature and we could begin to relax we had only 1 hour left before our couples massage. Unfortunately the private spa area got too hot and humid and we could not have our massage there as planned so we had to move to the massage rooms and have separate massages which is not what we had planned. We where offered to spend more time in the private spa but the last thing you want to do after receiving an oil massage is to sweat or get wet so we passed on that offer. This level of disorganization is not acceptable for a property of this caliber especially one that focuses so much on wellness and spa offerings!
I can't in good faith rate them higher than a 3/5. Best of luck.
