Hotel Krone

Very nice hotel. Clean rooms with beautiful view on city and mountains. 10 minutes walk to Town center.

My favorite hotel in Berchtesgaden, Bavarian-style rooms and an amazing atmosphere throughout the hotel, plus a delicious breakfast and a terrace with a view of the surrounding mountains.

We were greeted by a strong smell of cigarettes. The room is very small, the shower is extremely cramped. No personal night lights. Old-fashioned design. Pay attention to the bottle of wine at the entrance to the room - it is necessary to put a price tag on it so that guests know that it is not a "welcome" gift. There is no coffee corner in the room. We did not test the jacuzzi, but it is paid. A completely unpleasant experience.

The entire experience at Hotel Krone was awesome! We were greeted by a friendly face and very warmly. The hotel is situated above the historic town and the views from our balcony were absolutely incredible. Definitely make it a point to enjoy breakfast on their terrace because the gardens in the foreground of massive mountains are breathtaking. We found Hotel Krone to be a great choice for our stay in Berchtesgaden and would absolutely stay here again. Rooms were spacious with plenty of room for two of us with several suitcases. Throughout our travels in the Alps, this place felt most spacious!

Astonishing views to the highest peak of the valley. When booking a room I can definitely recommend taking the one with a balcony and view to the mountains, what a unique way to wake up and to look at the starts in the evening. The rooms are recently renovated and offer extra comfort and the equipment in the room is 5/5. The breakfast is rather simple compared to other accommodations close by but you can request specials coffees and egg options separately. For the room, the view and proximity to the village, I would stay here again!

The rooms are small , but quaint, with beautiful woodwork in the traditional Bavarian style. The bathroom very modern and clean. The Breakfast buffet has a nice selection of everything one could desire, even a few vegetarian spreads. But above all, ask for a room with a view, as the surrounding mountains offer an unrivaled panorama, which you can also enjoy from the terrace. The service is very friendly.

We were very impressed with our stay. We were able to check in early and made the quick trip to the Eagle's Nest. We had a nice choice for dinner. Our room was very clean and the balcony offered great views of the surrounding area including the Eagle's Nest. Many sights were close so we stayed a second night. Breakfast both mornings was outstanding with hot and cold offerings. The owners went out of their way to make our stay pleasant including reserving a car space close to the hotel. We will return and highly recommended.

A great stay at Hotel Krone! I love that the hotel retains an old-fashioned chalet feel, from the simple folksy artwork in the hallway to the knotty pine in the room to the individual room keys (and I mean real skeleton-style keys, no modern cards here). This is definitely the type of place I expect in the alpine region, not an overpriced pretentious hotel (but there's a couple of those in the region if that's what you're into). ||||Krone's buffet breakfast was awesome. The view was nice - Kehlsteinhaus and the river was visible from our room. The room was clean, comfy and quiet. The bathroom tiny, but very well thought-out with everything you need (including shelf space). Also, as a male couple, we never felt uncomfortable or out of place.||||As for the location and walking... you will need to walk into town for dinner. This is about 15 minutes (uphill on the way back) along Locksteinstraße with an incredible view walking toward town. Unless you have mobility issues or can't take the uphill walks, you probably won't need a car in Berchtesgaden. We arrived via the 840 bus from Salzburg (also called the Watzmann Express) and departed the bus at the Salzbergwerk stop, just down the hill from the hotel (hint: do not take a bus all the way to the Hbf main station or you'll be in for quite a long walk). The hike up the hill from Salzbergwerk is very steep, but short. A few days later, we caught the same 840 bus down to the Hbf station when leaving town. However, this may not be easy if you're bogged down with big suitcases (rolling bags and backpacks would be suitable, though).||Everything in town was easily walkable. When visiting Obersalzberg, we walked 20 minutes to the ObersalzbergBahn cable car (which I do recommend) and got off at the top station. From there, it was a 40 minute walk to the main area. ||||Loved the hotel and would certainly return!
