Boutique-y kind of hotel, in a part of Berlin well-served by public transport (like most areas, I guess).
To start with the positives, the staff here are very friendly and efficient, the whole hotel is very clean, and the breakfast room on the 7th floor is light and airy and has decent views.
Unfortunately, as a business traveller, I was disappointed with the Ku'damm 101.
There's a distinct lack of room service, and the bar food menu is very limited. Arriving at 10pm on a Sunday night, I was in massive need of a decent plate of food, but had to settle for a salmon and wasabi bagel instead. Alas, the wasabi had been spread as if it were cream cheese, making the bagel rather difficult to get through.
The polished hard-wearing lino floors made the hotel feel rather industrial, and I got a feeling like I was in a prison or similar institution when walking the corridors.
The feeling continued when I got into my room, which similarly had a hard-wearing floor, and a somewhat stark looking bathroom. My room also had the odour of stale cigarettes, and stayed that way, despite the windows being left open all day while I was out.
I had one of the corner suites on the first floor, with a view out onto the occasionally noisy street. Although my room didn't look out over Kufürstendamm, the hotel's so close to that busy road that it's impossible not to be woken when emergency service vehicles go past with their blaring sirens. The alternative view is one of the car park, however.
On the subject of being woken up at odd hours, one night's sleep was disturbed when someone decided it was a good idea to do some vacuum-cleaning near my room at 2.30am!
A final negative point is that wi-fi in this hotel costs EUR10 per night (it's slightly cheaper if you go for a multi-day login). Given that it seems to cater for business travellers more than tourists, I think that's pretty poor.
All in all, I think the Ku'damm 101 is over-priced for what it is. I'd hesitate to come here again, even if work are paying for everything, and I'd certainly avoid it if I were visiting Berlin for fun.
