The Hotel Kurrajong is a heritage hotel. It was originally built as the Commonwealth accommodation for politicians and public servants in Canberra's early days. The building is lovely, low key, lots of timber. The Ben Chifley room is very heritage with lino flooring. An en suite has been added. I imagine in the 1940s Treasurer Chifley would line up for the bathroom with the other public servants: pipe in mouth, towel in one hand, toothbrush in the other. All rooms now have en suite facilities. The staff are very professional, friendly, and efficient. A big thank you to Grace for helping us with an issue. Tyson was very good at check in. The breakfast is very nice. The dinner menu has very limited vegetarian options. The bed is very comfy. Lots of hot water in the shower. Note that the red light on the AC panel indicates it is operating. Walking distance to Old Parliament House, National Library, Aboriginal Tent Embassie, art gallery, and portrait gallery. Parking is in the open. A 5 minute walk to a supermarket, Indian restaurant, Turkish restaurant, kebab shop. All are excellent.
