What am incredible experience my family has had at this hotel. The accommodations are amazing. The value is at the top of the range. The breakfast was the strongest element of value & execution. The bathrooms are very comforting in the 3 stages you experience bathrooms. I cannot possibly ooze enough about the superlatives of this experience. I've stayed in hotels around the world in a generous range of prices and this is at the top, for me. Now, you'll read my review and think I mean, there are no flaws or very little to improve and for the most part, that would be finishing touches or initial engagement. Logistics. Otherwise, they have done what can be done.

Location is excellent, near the Royal Palace, Museum and restaurants and bars. |Room with King size bed is not ideal as it takes too much space. |Service is as what Cambodia is known for, really excellent. |Rooftop bar has a very good view of the river.

THE BEST HOTEL I’VE STAYED AT IN PHNOM PENH!! I normally don’t write reviews for hotels at all. This one is a special exception. From the moment we checked in, which was a little earlier too but when we arrived the room was ready. To the moment we checked out, everything was impeccable and I could not recommend it enough. We booked the Executive River King room. The room was very spacious and had good and luxurious finishes. The bathroom soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner are all from L’Occitane, the robes are from Frette, and the tea bags are from TWG. An absolutely luxurious experience for a boutique hotel. Next, the location. Absolutely perfect. Not only is it right in front of the Royal Palace and National Museum. It is also along the Sisowath Quay. We stayed during a weekend and they closed this road to turn it into a Walking Street full of different food vendors. SPECIAL MENTION TO THE MATTRESS!! One of the best mattresses I’ve slept in, I want one in my room. If the hotel replies to this review may I kindly know what mattress brand you use please. Overall, if you’re thinking about staying here, stop thinking and book it right away.

Over the last two or three years we have made several relaxing short breaks to Phnom Penh. One of our favourite places to visit for an evening cocktail and nibbles is the UP rooftop bar at the KHL hotel which has the most spectacular views over the Tonie Sap and Mekong rivers. We have recommended it to friends who have been equally delighted with the drinks, tapas and friendly staff.|What a contrast to our visit on the 1st of January 2026. Changed menu, less friendly service and the worst aperol spritz we have ever been served ! It tasted like lightly flavoured ice water!. None of us finished our drink. The food was also disappointing.|It was obvious the drinks were specially prepared for ‘gullible’ tourists and were a complete ripoff. Incidentally we also asked the price of a glass of house wine and we were told 10 dollars. I see from your website it is 6.5 to 8 dollars. Again presumably the 10 dollars is the ripoff price for gullible tourists. I paid the bill but made it plain to the staff how dreadful the drinks were . |The rooftop bar is in a fantastic location and I could never understand why it is not more popular. Ripping off tourists is not the way to achieve that popularity.

I’ve never had the motivation to write a hotel review since there are already so many out there but KVL Phnom Penh really stands out in my mind and I feel the need to drop one. Stayed there recently during a 3-night solo trip and I was pretty much impressed from start to finish. The front desk staff were extremely attentive and efficient with my check-in, and even allowed me an early check-in several hours ahead of schedule. For frequent travellers, you know that’s a godsend that’s pretty uncommon nowadays, and it was so graciously afforded by the front desk manager, Miss Sateka. I stayed in a junior suite and I found the room to be modern and well-appointed. The layout and size of the room is perfect for a couple so I was definitely spoiled by all the extra space. I prefer a slightly firmer bed and I thought the bed fell into the goldilocks zone- not too soft and not too firm. Just right for my preference. The bathroom area also had the feel of a large walk-in wardrobe so definitely no complaints there. The room was clean and well-maintained, and the air-conditioning was really cold and crisp - perfect for hot and humid Phnom Penh! A special shout-out also has to go the lobby cafe (Alchemist). They truly serve amazing coffee and it’s a great place for those who work remotely. They do have pastries and light bites as well which complement their beverage menu. At the rooftop of the hotel, there’s a bar with both indoor and alfresco options. The quality of the food is great, which makes it an awesome place for dinner while enjoying an unobstructed view of the river where the Tonle Sap meets the Mekong. For those looking to chill by the poolside, I did not come across one however and gym rats will find that the hotel gym is located away at Vattanac Building. But it’s just a stone’s throw (with a really strong arm!) and the hotel will gladly send you there in the hotel buggy. That being said, it’s good to note here that the location of the hotel sits nicely between the new Techo Airport and all the bustling areas of Phnom Penh so you won’t feel cooped in traffic for too long either. Taken in its entirety, KVL stands out even amongst the big hotel brands and I believe it’s down to the hard work and dedication of the staff who run and maintain the hotel so well on a daily basis. My experience there was nothing short of perfect and with the benefit of having stayed across many different hotel brands previously, KVL ranks right up there imho. Depending on the season (whether holidays), you will be hard-pressed to find such a good balance between quality and value. It will be my hotel of choice now whenever I visit Phnom Penh.

The hotel has a great ambient, nice minimalistic modern design and all the hotel staffs are pleasant and nice. We had a great time staying and will come back again whenever back to Phnom Penh again.Location is great, a short walk to the King’s Palace and by the riverside promenade.The roof top restaurant has a great view. The food quality serves are good.

Hotel KVL has potential. The design and concept is good, but the staff and other aspects need major adjustment. Staff is very nice, but not trained in hospitality on the level they are trying to position. Also, the prices for certain things are ridiculous for PP, where the focus on total value is missing. $10 for a laundry bag that costs probably under $1 dollar to make and is free in most hotels for people to take away their dirty clothes or send for laundry. Ridiculous. They ask you at checkout and you have to either pay $10 or open up your suitcase. $6.50 for the mini Perrier bottle ... in Cambodia. Now if the service matched the design, then this makes sense. If a hotel wants to have less trained people and save cost, they shouldn't charge luxury prices for everything else. The amenities are really lacking. Understand not every hotel will not have a pool ... but not even a small gym. There is a open space on the mezzanine that would make for a decent gym. Pollution is pretty high here so having a couple treadmills, weights, stretching area would be beneficial. I am sure they have the space. Again, I distinguish between positioning vs. level of service, and polite staff vs. trained staff. Only a few speak English well which is the middle language around the world - and a must for tourism focused sectors. Cambodia is growing fast ... and I have visited over the years. The progression in level of service and city cleanliness is not matching the level of investment into the country. That means people will come if they have to, or come once, but seasoned travelers (the ones that spend) likely won't return. These are just opinions. I have a lot of respect for the Cambodian people and the growth of the country - I see that the country in general is missing the things that should go in-step with development.
