This was a strange experience for us. I had booked this place as we were going to the Achouffe brewery the next morning. The room prices were super expensive but as there were not many options, I decided to splurge. When we arrived it turns out we were the only guests. With those room prices it makes sense. The rooms were new and nice and the staff was as nice as can be. Just for that price, I could have stayed at a 5star hotel though. We had dinner there as well and it was very tasty. It took a long time but was worth the wait. Our breakfast spread the morning was a beautiful continental breakfast. I did not see any options for bike rentals as advertised on the website as we would have used that.

Wonderful recently refurbished hotel with an excellent restaurant. We had room #1 which has an excellent bed (2 singles pushed together) and a very nice bathroom with a bath. The hotel is in an old building so you can hear people moving around, but in general this is not a problem. The hotel has a recently reopened restaurant offering excellent food, also breakfast has loads of options to choose from. All in all, considering the hotel is listed 2 stars(or 3 depending where you look) this hotel is a true little gem.

We chose the Bistro menu and all the food was delicious. The dishes were beautifully assembled and presented and the taste combinations were exquisite. The staff were attentive though spoke limited Dutch and English. We were in a little anteroom, across the hall from the main dining area, with just two tables. The music wasn’t too loud. We had booked in advance which I think would be advisable as the restaurant is connected to the hotel, which we didn’t stay in. It was definitely good value.

Fantastic!! We stopped by for a late lunch and the food was wonderful, great views of the river, and very accommodating chef. Excellent place, we highly recommend!

We did not stay at the hotel, but went there to eat. We read some reviews beforehand which were very good, so we had high expectations and it totally lived up to the expectations.||It was even better than we imagined. Everything that is served is very tasty, presentation is beautiful. Staff is very friendly. And the price you pay is actually very low for what you get on your plate.||This restaurant has potential to get a Michelin star rating in a few years.||If you are near and want to have superb food, go there. Really, do it. You won't be disappointed.||Would not recommend with kids.

We spent only one night here enroute to Luxembourg. Not sure how a longer stay would work, although we did have a car. The room was small, but clean and ensuite. Staff friendly with limited English, but very helpful. Breakfast was excellent and inclusive. Dinner was included in our package and was outstanding. The proprietor was also the chef. Would recommend it highly, especially if one wants peace and quiet.

We stayed here whilst doing a tour of the main Battle of the Bulge sites and it is very conveniently situated for that. Our room was at the top of the building and rather small, with low eaves over part of the room. The room was quiet and clean. The tv only had terrestrial german channels, but the free wi-fi worked fine. There was free parking across the road from the hotel. The breakfast was good but you needed to be there fairly promptly to enjoy the full range of food. The restaurant had a fairly limited menu but the food and presentation were of high quality. However, dinner is pricey by local standards and the food would not suit children or teenagers. The problem is that the other local restaurants in Houffalize do not put up much of a contest, so far as the quality of cooking is concerned.

I found Hotel L'Ermitage while searching for hotels in Bastogne. It came up near Bastogne about 15K away and looked unique and charming. Its outside of the village of Houffalize by about 1K next to the highway and across from a small stream running through a gorge. Parking was good right across the street. Be careful with children as the 2 lane road runs directly in front. The first floor consists of a nice quaint dining area and an adjacent lounge with the front desk and stairwell in between. I was met by the front desk clerk who checked me in and took me to room 8 immediately. Check in was expeditious and I was pleased since I had been touring and walking most of the day. The room was small but for one person not an issue. The decor was eclectic with some rustic furniture mixed in with contemporary bedding and floral wallpaper. The curling edges of the wallpaper gave it a retro look and fit in well with the location. The bath was unexpectedly modern and well done on last remodel. My room faced the hillside and was at the end of the hall. Internet was free and easy to use. The restaurant downstairs was begining to fill with patrons for dinner and appeared to be a romantic place for two. Based on being single and not wanting to drop a large number of euros, I chose instead to walk into town and have a look around for dinner. The walk was an easy traverse on a path next to the stream. Breakfast was included and after a good nights rest, I was the first guest to arrive at 0830. The breakfast was charming and typical of other European breakfast choices. The dining room was well appointed and decorated well. I definitely can recommend this hotel for a couple or single. I probably would have preferred a larger room if I wasn't alone. This charming hotel had good character, good service, and met all my expectations.
