I recently dined at La Calcina restaurant, and while the food was decent, the overall experience left much to be desired. The service was exceptionally slow, despite the restaurant not appearing particularly busy. We had to request our dessert three times before it was finally served, and one of the waitresses was notably impolite when we asked about it asking us to wait. Additionally, the prices seemed exorbitant and likely geared towards tourists rather than reflecting the quality or value of the meal. While the setting might attract visitors, the experience did not justify the high cost. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant unless they significantly improve their service standards and provide better value for the price.

We stayed at La Calcina and absolutely loved our stay. we had a room at the upper floor with great Canal / Ocean view and a very cute bathroom with cool bath tub. It is not handicapped accessible but if you have no issues definitely worth walking up the stairs to have a room at the upper floors. the staff is really nice and wonderful kind. we have been at the La Calcina many times before for a drink, they offer great drinks or oysters but finally we also stayed there and it was definitely worth it.|breakfast almost surprised us, it was definitely more "german" or "western" than typical italian, had great choices and variety.|we will definitely come back, it was so worth the wait and we enjoyed it.|GRAZIE!

I am reviewing the restaurant, not the hotel: We wanted to make the most of a 40-minute wait for the ferry by enjoying coffee and dessert. Upon stepping onto the half-empty waterfront terrace, we were brusquely asked if we intended to order food. After replying, "No, just coffee and drinks," we were directed to a table near the building, which we didn’t mind. However, after waiting for approximately 12 minutes without service – despite the staff not appearing overly busy – we decided to move to another nearby establishment. Although we only had time for coffee there, the friendly service made all the difference.

I loved this hotel. It is beautifully decorated and the desk staff is warm, friendly and helpful. I had a small one-person room with a great view and I loved it. Breakfast is super and they made the best cappuccinos. I’d stay in this hotel and the same room again and wished I’d stayed here and in Venice longer.

When they said "best room in the house:" they were right. Our corner room had water views everywhere, even from the shower! Ask for room 2. The service was friendly and helpful at every turn. This hotel is away from the crowds but only 60m from a vaporetto stop. A perfect stay.

Happy friends advised me hotel la Calcina. Great location centrally but just away from the crowds. Ask for a room on the water side: magical view. Nice room, beautiful bathroom. Great breakfast. Do not forget to have lunch or dinner at their floating restaurant outside, if weather permits: delicious food. Thanks to the super friendly and always helpful staff.|I'll be back!!

During the new year's dinner, we discovered impatient waiters, distracted due to the restaurant's saturation, and low quality food (in contrast with the high prices). Disappointed by the restaurant. I can't speak about the hotel because I didn't stay there. Great location and beautiful venue.

Lovely small hotel with delicious food and attentive, top quality service. Away from the tourist throngs but a short walk to most sites. Nearby the Peggy Guggenheim and many art galaries, it's a perfect place for art-lovers to stay.

Yelp
Quite good with a vegan risotto option. Make a reservation and eat right on the edge of the water. All allergens clearly marked and prices weren't bad!

Yelp
We had a very nice lunch inside the restaurant. The gnocchi with three shrimp and mushrooms was one of the best I've had. The Antoniana Marec beer I had was a a good IPA style. My wife and daughter had salads which they enjoyed. The staff was attentive and friendly. I wish we had tried a desert. was very

Yelp
Leisure stay over four days in September. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Public area decor is comfortable. Restaurant service and food was very good. We had double bed room with a view of the canal. It's noisy at night, so prepare with ear plugs. The room was small but comfortable and could use a decor freshening. Given location, view and overall experience a very good experience.

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel this past weekend for 3 nights with my boyfriend. The hotel was offering a deal for half off due to the winter season. Upon our late 1am arrival, we were greeted at the front desk and checked in right away. The lobby is absolutely beautiful and decorated in a very classy Venetian way. Our room was comfortable and had character. We also had a gorgeous balcony with a lovely view of the water. Breakfast was served 7:30-10 daily and featured some nice pastries, fruits, and even some hot food which wasn't advertised. The staff was pleasant and helpful at all times. Location was fantastic- 7 min walk to San Marco, the touristy area. It was the perfect distance to have a nice quieter experience but still be close to the action. Also a 2 min walk to the Zattere water bus station which makes transportation very convenient to and from the airport as well as around Venice. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to explore Venice!

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant and location but terrible service. Brought out my main and appetizer when everyone else just received an appetizer. My friend ordered a sea bass that did not come out until 40 minutes after we had all finished our meals. The waitress said "it's coming out" three times and it still never came out. Also I tried to call the waiter over and he looked at me and looked away.

Yelp
Beautiful location, excellent food! The gnocchi was superb, tagliolini pesto as well. A bit pricy but that's pretty much what you'd expect from this kind of place. Friendly and smiley service
