La Casona de Yaiza, Yaiza, Lanzarote, Canary Islands - Explore & Book

"Positioned at the very edge of Yaiza, a whitewashed village of utter inertia in Lanzarote’s wild interior, La Casona de Yaiza is a converted country house offering an affordable, comfortable base with unfussy facilities, in an attractive rural setting. Owned by the same proprietor as nearby Casa de Hilario, it sets itself a couple of marks higher when it comes to spaciousness and décor. Inside, the hotel weaves a touch of elegance into the ‘walkers' guesthouse’ feel, with dashes of Italian Renaissance art and Sunday-best furniture. The 25 rooms vary in style; those in the old house feature ceiling frescoes and gaily daubed headboards, the newer rooms are more contemporary and minimalist. All have nice ensuite bathrooms, some with free-standing tubs. Beyond the gates, Lanzarote is a haven for outdoorsy types who can trek up volcanoes, ride horses along black sand beaches, sail the coast and dive into vibrant underwater worlds. Meanwhile, those seeking quiet respite can hole up here, making use of the outdoor pool or delving into the art-lined communal lounge in the cellar. Up on the roof, a Jacuzzi provides bubble-laden views of the sloping hills of Fenauso, a protected area that's ideal for hiking. Highs A tranquil country hotel offering an authentic Canarian experience at excellent value The grotto-like lounge in the cellar is a great hideaway for chilling out with a glass of wine The village of Yaiza is one of the prettiest on the island and its heart is within easy strolling distance A pool and jacuzzi for relaxing Some of the island's best food served in the restaurant right next door Lows The newer rooms feel quite basic compared to the characterful spaces in the original house Think comfort, not luxury Reception isn't 24-hour, so you'll need Whatsapp to keep in touch outside of open hours Wooden floors in the old building mean noise travels; the newer rooms are much quieter Their sister restaurant next door is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but there are others in walking distance" - Joe Cawley

This was the worst experience I’ve had during my travels. One day before my departure, my residency application was unexpectedly rejected, and the immigration office clearly informed me that if I left the country, I would not be allowed to re-enter. I immediately contacted the hotel to explain the situation and offered to provide official documentation to prove that the cancellation was entirely due to force majeure. Over the following week, I reached out to the hotel three times and also contacted them three times through Booking.com before finally receiving a response. For any guest facing a sudden emergency, such indifference is truly disappointing. I fully understood their right to uphold their refund policy, so I simply requested a voucher for a reasonable amount to use in the future. In response, they wrote back in capital letters: “WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHANGES OR MODIFICATIONS.”... This hotel has a cold and unsympathetic attitude, plus extremely slow responses. If you're looking for a normal service during your trip, I strongly recommend thinking twice before booking this hotel.

Arrived in the evening time because we had booked late flights and the receptionist was really bothered about this, despite the fact that our flights were late and it wasn’t our fault. Receptionist is so rude and very hostile towards guests, and we got the vibe that she definitely does not like foreigners. Wouldn’t stay here again

We stumbled upon this little gem of a restaurant on a short lunch stop in Yaiza. It had a wonderful ambiance and very friendly and professional staff! Our meals were delicious, we loved the risotto with pork and mushrooms. So far our favorite restaurant on Lanzarote. Finally something authentic with character.

My husband and I spent our wedding anniversary here and had an amazing time. Very friendly staff, super clean room, and gorgeous little gardens to sit in. The pool is lovely to sit by at night, very romantic and it is definitely worth paying that little extra to have a balcony (outside space) (we had two) We were in room 18 and loved it, great powershower, plently of storage, comfy memory foam bed. My only niggle was there was no fridge for cold water or a safe to put our passports in. Breakfast is a good choice of fresh fruits and bread, with a lovely little cat for company. Get down as soon as it opens, though (8.30 am) as it gets busy. We really enjoyed the peaceful quiet area, it was so relaxing. Great value for money! We would 100% return. Thank you so much, Casona, for making our anniversary so special. 🥰

I stayed 2 weeks in room number 13. I found it to be perfect. Big room, big balcony and a nice shower! Everything was very clean and that everyday. The best was the balcony, the view in the morning and evening… Wow!

Despite living in Playa Blanca for 4 years, I had no idea this restaurant existed until recently! What a beautiful place, full of character and charm. The welcome was friendly and the service excellent. Our server explained the specials AND the price of each, most unusual. The starter of sweet black pudding was delicious but beware, the portions are large! Two could easily share one of those. I had Canary pig, which was pulled pork. Again delicious and moist and again, very generous portions. My friends had two different steaks and a chicken dish and everyone really enjoyed their food. Look forward to a return visit soon.

Yelp
La Casona de Yaiza is a very nice boutique hotel on inland Lanzarote. The building and surrounding complex is fabulous. I especially liked the wonderful flowering shrub that makes a beautiful tunnel at one side of the building. Te courtyard outside the reception office and dining room was also a pleasant spot to sit in. The courtyard was kept spotlessly clean. The room was cool, despite having no air-con. The bed was comfortable and the flat screen TV enabled us to watch TV and movies on our laptop (we brought the HDMI cable ourselves). There is WiFi too, which was available near reception and the dining room. The pool offered welcome break from the hot hot sun, especially after a day hike or a bike ride in the surrounding area. The breakfast buffet was quite good, a fine array of food to chose from. Dinner in their restaurant was nice, but the wine was quite expensive, by Lanzarote standards. It was lovely wine, but 21 EUR. The manager was a very nice guy to deal with. The waiter, a little odd, but was always paying attention to his diners. There are few things that make this review a four star instead of a five star: The lack of storage in the room. There was very little storage and one chest of drawers (which was in the bathroom) only had one drawer with a working handle. The lack of light in the bathroom. We could open the shutter, but the window was right by the courtyard and generally there was someone out there that could see in. The lack of staff at times, once when we arrived to check in and then during the day at the bar. But still overall a nice experience here upon our arrival to Lanzarote at La Casona de Yaiza.
