Hôtel La Chaudanne

Fantastic hotel. Stone throw away from the slopes. Lovely and warm, the bed was so comfortable! great breakfast. The turn down service every evening with a small gift was so nice. Staff were so friendly and helpful, ski books kept in the shop opposite where they would put them on and take them off for you. I can not recommend this hotel enough. Amazing stay.

The staff are superb, friendly and very helpful. The Concierge arranged to pick us up from our AirBNB on the morning of check in, where they had our lift passes ready. The next day I lost my phone, tracked it down to one of the off piste bars, the hotel got one of their drivers to take me back to the bar (and I recovered my phone). ||The hotel itself is in pretty much the best location possible in Meribel, a few short steps away from the main Chaudanne ski start area.||The bar is cozy and friendly (they do an excellent Old Fashioned). ||Breakfast is served in the attached restaurant, and offered an extensive hot and cold buffet. ||My room was a ‘standard’ room, while it wasn’t the biggest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in, it was well equipped, stocked with quality ‘Nuxe’ toiletries, and had a large balcony overlooking the main street. The mini bar was included in the price (though sadly lacking wine!). ||Also worth noting that ‘Le Kaila’ is ‘La Chaudanne’ attached sister (5*) hotel, I am sure Le Kaila has a bit more luxury and probably larger rooms, but it feels like a lot of it rubs off on La Chaudanne (certainly from a service perspective). ||In summary if you want a great hotel in the right location in Meribel, don’t hesitate to try La Chaudanne.

Amazing stay here last week! Highlights would be the top quality service, great breakfast and proximity to the slopes (100m away). We messed up our ski pass booking and the staff were so helpful in sorting it out. Will definitely stay again.

We booked a twin room for a week via Crystal Ski and were thoroughly pleased with our stay. The room was good, outside footsteps very audible and a poor quality shower kept it from being great. Bar relatively fairly priced and serves good drinks, the spa area was tranquil and clean. Restaurant is to be avoided as it represents poor value for money. All staff were excellent. Literally two minutes walking to multiple lifts that take you in all directions across the 3 Valleys. Would stay again without a doubt

We were looking for a last minute accommodation in Méribel due to a cancellation of our existing booking and stumbled upon La Chaudanne . They were very helpful and welcoming and went out to assist us with our luggage at another location. Stay was wonderful and service top notch . Special mention to Antoine, Thomas, Romeo Charlene, Hugo and the restaurant Chef and staff always so accommodating and made our stay so special . We will definitely be back again!

Amazing service throughout the entire stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful with all of our requests and bookings. Breakfast had a very high quality of food offered which we really enjoyed. Rooms were very clean and well looked after. We were given gifts on our last day which was a very nice personal touch from the management of the hotel. Ski Rental was very convinient and at a reasonable price. Spa was sufficient to relax after a day of skiing. We are definitely coming back again. Thank you to everyone at La Chaudanne.

This is a 4-star hotel but, in many areas, very much verging on 5-star. There are a few areas where they exceed and some which seem lacking.||Bedrooms: we stayed in room 415, which is one of their small rooms. Unlike other reviewers, we were thankfully fully aware of the size of the room, and we got exactly that. Yes it was small, but we weren't planning on spending much time in there, so it was just about big enough. The fluffy carpet was especially nice, although we didn't get on with the French-style pillows. Housekeeping were excellent, and the little treats with their turndown service always made us smile. Our room could do with the grouting being refreshed in the bathroom, but otherwise couldn't fault. ||Spa: the spa was lovely and we never found it crowded, sometimes being the only ones in there. Sauna was great at the end of a day skiing and there were always plenty of towels. Only criticisms are firstly, there's no toilets nearby; secondly, there's no supply of water. Thirdly (and most importantly), the floor is lethal when wet - we watched a number of people fall as a result.||Breakfast: a wonderful selection and plentiful supply every morning. Really set us up for the day. Could choose from breads, yoghurts, fruit, pastries, cold meats/cheeses, hot food... ||Afternoon Tea: we were told by Reception that there was cake available each afternoon between certain hours. We understood from them that this was free of charge, but that if we wanted drinks we would need to purchase them. Later in the week we were refused access to the cake unless we purchased a drink - given that by this stage we'd also racked up a 300 euro bar bill and that a cup of tea was 7 euros, this left a sour taste with us.||Dinner: almost all the food we had was delicious and many dishes exceeded expectations. We were on half-board, and got very bored with the half-board menu by about day 3 (as it doesn't change). What was not publicised (but we confirmed with the hotel) is that we could transfer to the a la carte menu and pick items up to a certain value (paying any surcharge). We did this very successfully and, while we were initially concerned that all our receipts showed the full amount, the Reception staff did indeed deduct all the allowances as agreed. Unfortunately we also encountered others on half-board who weren't aware and who'd started eating elsewhere purely to get different food. One final point to flag is drinks are not included with the half-board, so need to factor that in.||Bar: the bar is really well-stocked and a couple of the bar staff are very friendly and definitely made our stay more enjoyable. The drinks aren't cheap, but it's mountain pricing in a 4-star hotel, so to be expected.||Ski Storage: you can store all your skis/boards in their linked shop - this is across the road and is not terribly spacious, meaning it can be a bit of a annoyance in the morning. We chose instead to rent lockers at the bottom of one of the main lifts, which worked out far better for us (especially as didn't have to carry our gear back to the shop every night).||Overall this is a really nice property, but it's let down in a few areas. Given that and the overall cost of staying there, we're currently undecided if we would return.

The staff very fantastic and made us feel very welcome. We were one of the last guests to stay of the season and they hadn’t given up. It was such a pleasure to stay at the hotel. The small touches, the turn down service and bottles of water in the car when we left - a real attention to detail. The ski shop as well next door were fantastic - going the extra mile a special mention to Nico & Alex there.

We had a very nice dinner here a few months back while skiing. The beef tartare, carbonara and sole were all very tasty. We liked the desserts which offered a lot of good choices--we had the baba maison, vacherin and paris brest among us.

The three hotels are located at walking distance from the main ski lifts that takes to all the 3 valleys slopes. The service is very good, and the hotels offers sauna, hammam, jacuzzis, 2 swimming pools (one outside at 38e Celsius, very nice after skiing). The food is incredibly good, too. I highly recommend this place. The regular price is high but there are interesting off season discounts if you subscribe to their newsletter.
