27 Best Vacation Spots for Every Type of Couple

"At this Philippe Starck-designed hotel in the seaside resort of Pyla-sur-Mer, couples enjoy panoramic views of Arcachon Bay and the mesmerizing Dune du Pilat from their beachy-chic guestrooms. Most visitors flock to the area to climb the magnificent dune, which rises 374 feet above sea level, but we won’t blame you for lazing on the sandy beach, breathing in the head-clearing scent of the pine forest."

La Co(o)rniche (La Teste-de-Buch, Nouvelle Aquitaine) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Don’t let the tricky spelling of La Co(o)rniche deter you. Just know it reads as non-standard for French people, too, and move on to the more important details of this rather spectacular hotel, located in the Pilat-Plage region, at the foot of the highest sand dune in Europe. If you haven’t heard of Pilat-Plage, you’re not alone, or you just don’t have any aristocratic French ancestors. Quiet and otherworldly, this is an off-the-beaten-path destination where the sea meets towering dunes and thick pine forest; it was the playground of princes, dukes, even Napoleon III. La Corniche was a Basque-style hunting lodge built in the 1930s, thoroughly updated by none other than Phillipe Starck in 2010 — which is when it became La Co(o)rniche." - Tablet Hotels

First time and we had the most amazing stay. Having read some lukewarm reviews, I was a little nervous but was blown away by the welcoming and accommodating staff from the moment we arrived. No ask was too much and they looked after us really well. ||It does get busy as it’s a big restaurant but we were always given a great table. On top, we could enjoy lunch on the pool loungers and you actually forget the diners behind you. Breakfast was delicious, and it was lovely to have the terrace/hotel to yourselves. ||A couple of reviews mentioned you couldn’t use the pool from 12-4. They may have changed this as my kids did but we tended to have our swim in the morning, and then head out to explore the area before returning mid afternoon when the restaurant was quieter. The valet parking was super helpful for this too esp.||The ocean and Dune Pilat’s view was incredible, and we had memorable sunsets, made even more special by having the terrace to ourselves. ||The room was amazing and accommodated our 3 children easily. We loved our sweet treats at bedtime. It was home from home and we hope to return next year!

One of my favorite restaurants in all of France. But the other night was unfortunate. A new staff member serving us in the casual side, with little experience in hospitality, discretion or understanding of “ don’t bite the hand that feeds you” began and continued on with one of my VIP guests celebrating their Birthday. He was so vocal about his unfair compensation, how he wasn’t treated well and that any tips left by guests were kept by the hotel, (a crime he repeatedly vocalized that was worthy of President Macrons attention) while he repeatedly left ME to SERVE the magnums of Champagne to my guests, set a scene that I found intolerable. I pray my experience is just a 1 in 100.

Stopped over for lunch only, wow, me of best views we ever seen! The dunes by the water are impressive! Service was great, we had a reservation but there were plenty of tables. Staff very nice! It’s an upscale place but very welcoming to people like us wearing flip flops.

Visited the restaurant with friends in June on recommendation and the experience will be kept in good memory. Location location location but also service and food. The facility is rather big but we did not lack any attention from our waiter or had to wait for the food too long. I had foie gras as a starter and duck leg for main. Both dishes were excellent and lived up to any expectations I had. Maybe our waiter was a bit snobbish when we discussed wine, but not in a rude way. Or it might have been our lack of knowledge and respect for the area we visited. :-)

Stopped here for drinks while cycling from Arcachon. We were met with such friendly staff and given wonderful comfy couch with amazing view of the dunes and the ocean. Food menu was reasonably priced (lunch). Location is fantastic! Visit!! Just visit for the view is nothing else!

An absolutely breathtaking spot especially at dawn with a view of sunset over the Arcachon bay. Bar and tapas are great with a cool South Western France feel. The restaurant is a great spot too but the service ruins the whole experience. After having excessively been pushing for the most expensive dishes, our waiter brought us our starters (ceviche) without coco sauce and arrogantly claimed that we were ignorant as this was how they should be cooked (contrary to what was on the menu). He never apologized after being proved wrong and completely ignored us thereafter. Such a shame given the beautiful place we were in. Not sure we will ever visit that place again (unfortunately)...

My 5th time in La Coorniche and unfortunately maybe my last. I used to come for lunch which was always a treat. Impeccable service, great views, great food and wine selection. Dinner is a very different affair. Some sections are off if you’re not a VIP and we were seated next to the service area and garbage bins…doesn’t matter that the nice tables stayed empty the whole eve…reception was adequately condescending, of course. Food was nice as usual but the whole experience felt definitely sub par. Prefer lunch to dinner is my advice

Restaurant la corniche: Worst possible service. We ve been unwelcomed by a lady who proposed us a table on the 2nd row table. As there were many tables available on the 1st row and it was nice to face the ocean directly, we asked for one of those. She said it was not ready yet because some guest just left. We said we didn’t mind waiting. She came back and said it wasn’t possible because no waiter were available to put the plates on the table. As our table was dully dressed, we said we didn’t mind carrying the plate to this table. Then she came up with another excuse saying each waiter were assigned a table row and we had to be served by a specific waiter. It was all very ridiculous how adamant she was on not pleasing us as client. Then we realised there were 1 fully dressed table available on the first row( 4 tables undressed and 1 table dressed: total 5 tables available) .When showing her that one, we thought she will finally be accommodating but No. she then said that 1st row table are only for hotel guest. Since it was 22h00 and already 15 mn discussion with her we advised her that at that rimes there won’t be be suddenly 10 guests of the hotel showing up and specifically asking for those table. At loss of arguments she then call a waiter, also quite rude who asked “ what s going on. Upon explaining the situation he said it would be too complicated for him to serve us at one of these tables because he will have to cross the room. We then proposed that if a waiter on that side could serve us, it would be easier for everyone. At the end he just became all red , boiling and shouting “well fine i will cross the room then! “ What an awful atmosphere and how unhelpful and unprofessional those people are. At the end we lost 15mn talk for no reason. There were plenty of full table around us with many waiters but it all sound very complicated for them to just be nice!! Obviously they must have spit in our plates but well we had a nice view. When i asked for 2 extra pieces of bread for the oysters they said they have none! At that stage we knew they wouldn’t help for anything. We stayed at this hotel before so we just came back for the view. We knew The food was no better than a simple coffee place in town but quite expensive regarding the poor choice/quality. Go there only for the view because the food is plain and the service is the worst! No manager visible the whole time and while we were sitting we could hear another waitress moaning and complaining her feet hurts and another one saying he was dying to go home. This was just in June. So good luck for anyone who will experience the most horrible service in july or august
