27 Best Vacation Spots for Every Type of Couple

"At this Philippe Starck-designed hotel in the seaside resort of Pyla-sur-Mer, couples enjoy panoramic views of Arcachon Bay and the mesmerizing Dune du Pilat from their beachy-chic guestrooms. Most visitors flock to the area to climb the magnificent dune, which rises 374 feet above sea level, but we won’t blame you for lazing on the sandy beach, breathing in the head-clearing scent of the pine forest."

Stopped over for lunch only, wow, me of best views we ever seen! The dunes by the water are impressive! Service was great, we had a reservation but there were plenty of tables. Staff very nice! It’s an upscale place but very welcoming to people like us wearing flip flops.

Visited the restaurant with friends in June on recommendation and the experience will be kept in good memory. Location location location but also service and food. The facility is rather big but we did not lack any attention from our waiter or had to wait for the food too long. I had foie gras as a starter and duck leg for main. Both dishes were excellent and lived up to any expectations I had. Maybe our waiter was a bit snobbish when we discussed wine, but not in a rude way. Or it might have been our lack of knowledge and respect for the area we visited. :-)

Restaurant la corniche: Worst possible service. We ve been unwelcomed by a lady who proposed us a table on the 2nd row table. As there were many tables available on the 1st row and it was nice to face the ocean directly, we asked for one of those. She said it was not ready yet because some guest just left. We said we didn’t mind waiting. She came back and said it wasn’t possible because no waiter were available to put the plates on the table. As our table was dully dressed, we said we didn’t mind carrying the plate to this table. Then she came up with another excuse saying each waiter were assigned a table row and we had to be served by a specific waiter. It was all very ridiculous how adamant she was on not pleasing us as client. Then we realised there were 1 fully dressed table available on the first row( 4 tables undressed and 1 table dressed: total 5 tables available) .When showing her that one, we thought she will finally be accommodating but No. she then said that 1st row table are only for hotel guest. Since it was 22h00 and already 15 mn discussion with her we advised her that at that rimes there won’t be be suddenly 10 guests of the hotel showing up and specifically asking for those table. At loss of arguments she then call a waiter, also quite rude who asked “ what s going on. Upon explaining the situation he said it would be too complicated for him to serve us at one of these tables because he will have to cross the room. We then proposed that if a waiter on that side could serve us, it would be easier for everyone. At the end he just became all red , boiling and shouting “well fine i will cross the room then! “ What an awful atmosphere and how unhelpful and unprofessional those people are. At the end we lost 15mn talk for no reason. There were plenty of full table around us with many waiters but it all sound very complicated for them to just be nice!! Obviously they must have spit in our plates but well we had a nice view. When i asked for 2 extra pieces of bread for the oysters they said they have none! At that stage we knew they wouldn’t help for anything. We stayed at this hotel before so we just came back for the view. We knew The food was no better than a simple coffee place in town but quite expensive regarding the poor choice/quality. Go there only for the view because the food is plain and the service is the worst! No manager visible the whole time and while we were sitting we could hear another waitress moaning and complaining her feet hurts and another one saying he was dying to go home. This was just in June. So good luck for anyone who will experience the most horrible service in july or august

Location is stunning, service is good, food is average. The area is limited by the hotel exclusion area, making it feel very cramped. I’m glad I visited it, but I wouldn’t rush back

Beautiful view during the day, but don’t plan on getting any sleep here. The nightclub goes until 2AM every night, but the party never really stops. When we arrived home from dinner to find earplugs left for us with the turndown service, we were puzzled, but we soon found out why…||Wildly expensive for mediocre food and we found the service to be aggressively indifferent

Tough to review, the venue is fantastic, the view and the beach is beautiful, the front desk staff were very helpful, the food is excellent, but the service at the restaurant was terrible. We were there for 3 nights and every time we would eat lunch or dinner (both at Haaitza or Coorniche) it would take 15+ minutes just to get water or even order a drink. The Haaitza Michelin star restaurant was excellent and the service there was good, however with having a Michelin star restaurant I’m surprised they weren’t able to teach other staff better. The Coorniche restaurant just felt like bottle service staff vs any sort of proper dining experience despite the excellent food and wine offering. If it wasn’t for the restaurant service this spot could borderline be a 5 star.

After climbing on the Dune of Pilat on a weekday morning, we came here on a recommendation of a friend. We found street parking with a short 3 minute walk to the hotel. Dining al fresco here is such a treat. You can’t top the view and the breeze and beautifully presented food. Two in the party chose the seafood platter. I chose the fois gras and fish. We were not planning on ordering any dessert but when we asked what the Paris-Pyla was we just had to spring for it. The service is a little slow (possibly on purpose) so that one can appreciate dining at a leisurely pace and enjoying the view. The table near us had cocktails and emptied 2 bottles over lunch (5 of them) and then quickly requested a reservation for the same table for lunch 2 days later. They enjoyed it that much! We enjoyed it too. We lingered for almost a 3 hour lunch and then made our way to visit Arcachon and its beaches.

The noise from the hallway and adjacent rooms continued late into the night, and the walls seemed paper-thin. Housekeeping didn’t come the second day, and I had to call twice just to get fresh towels. Overall, I felt that the hotel did not live up to its advertised standards. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless serious improvements are made in cleanliness, service, and staff responsiveness.
