How to Plan a Trip Around the 2026 Solar Eclipse: A Complete Guide | Condé Nast Traveler

"In Gijón — closer to the centerline and offering about 1 minute 45 seconds of totality — I suggest booking a room at the boutique La Colina for beautiful sea views and easy access to hiking after enjoying the beaches, Roman ruins, and local Asturian sidras." - Stefanie Waldek

We just spent three nights at Hotel La Colina in Gijon, Spain. I have to say it’s been the highlight of our European trip. The location is secluded outside of town, but you can get into town in 10 minutes. We ate breakfast in the cafeteria every morning and the food and service was wonderful. The rooms were great, the views are fantastic, along with the hiking paths and best of all the staff were some of the friendliest people we’ve met on our trip. Highly recommended, and we will be back.

A lovely clean, comfortable hotel with friendly welcoming staff in an amazing clifftop location with coastal views. We stayed for 3 nights and would have happily stayed longer. There are clifftop walks in both directions but we would recommend the walk East to Playa Nora. Staff could not have been more helpful and made us feel very much at home.

The staff were incredibly friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The views from the room and the gardens are breathtaking. Very clean, great showers and the breakfast was lovely. The car park has plenty of space especially for larger cars or campers. Highly recommend.

The owners of this Hotel makes you feel so welcome from the moment you step through the front door until the moment you leave. Their service is exceptional and they really go the extra mile for their guests, nothing is too much! The views from our room was absolutely stunning and the nearby paragliding site made it even more interesting as we had 10 paragliders over the sea in front front of our Hotel.

We absolutely loved our stay here. Room was very clean and the views were exceptional. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. We stayed in four different locations during our holidays in Spain and this was my favourite. Parasailing was right behind the hotel. Beautiful walking trails. Breakfast was very good with fresh squeezed orange juice and the best chorizo sausage!

Stayed here for my special birthday during a tour of the area in our camper van. What a brilliant place. Fantastic views, beautiful clean hotel and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Right. On the coastal path with a lovely walk ( moderate) into Gijon. Absolutely superb.

Sitting atop an Atlantic Ocean cliff face is this quaint hotel. Only 3 levels high. The ocean views are everything anyone could wish for. The view from my level 2 room wall of windows was simply jaw dropping. Most economical room rate, parking free directly out front, licences cafe on site for breakfast through to dinner - open 9am til 9pm. |Room was very clean and beds comfortable. No mini bar. |A little old fashioned in its decor but it all seemed to work for me! ||Service with a smile from our front desk staff member Lucy. Love the small touches of fun and sense of humour she was able to bring to the table but still being so very efficient. Her afternoon female colleague joined in so Thank You Ladies!|There is an amazing paved walkway that hugs the coastline from the door of this charming place back to the main beach of GIJON. Simply wonderful. |Watched the sun drop into the ocean with a drink in hand the view embracing me and my feet up. |How absolutely perfect. |Vicki|Sydney|Australia|
