La Collegiata (San Gimignano, Tuscany) 11 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s practically a law of geography that every Tuscan hill town must be impossibly pretty, and every little hotel perched on its outskirts a portal to a life of simple pleasures. But even by these standards, La Collegiata stands out. Built in 1587 as a monastery, the old stone buildings and manicured gardens continue to feel like a place apart, a haven of heightened tranquility in an area that’s not exactly nerve-fraying to begin with. And just to render the modern world an even more distant memory, it’s all surrounded by a park comprised of cypress-covered slopes, with the distinctive medieval skyline of San Gimignano — famous for its fourteen ancient towers — crowning another hill off in the distance." - Tablet Hotels

This hotel in Tuscany is truly one of a kind — a hidden gem that feels like stepping into a fairytale. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed by the warmest and most attentive staff, who genuinely make you feel cared for in every detail. The views are absolutely breathtaking, with rolling Tuscan hills stretching as far as the eye can see, creating the perfect backdrop for relaxation and inspiration. Each bedroom feels like a dream — uniquely designed with charm and character, blending elegance with a cozy, romantic atmosphere that makes you never want to leave. The pool is without a doubt the diamond of the entire complex. If you are searching for a place that combines Tuscan charm, luxurious comfort, and heartfelt hospitality, this hotel is a destination you will remember forever. I will definitely come back here❤️

Great view to San Giminiano. The estate is beautiful and has a nice garden. We stayed in the tower suite for two nights which is located on two levels. Small windows especially in the sleeping room. On the higher level with the whirl pool (nice) the furniture is old and the garden bench was close to collapsing. When sitting on the garden bench in the higher floor, there was now view. Only very limited lights available. Many flying beetles in the bedroom and also in the bed. Mold in the bathroom.|When we complained they could not offer an alternative of equal standard but were also not willing to offer the reduced price for a room of lower standard (they offered the deluxe room for the price of the suite). |We asked for two duvets at 2.30pm in the afternoon. When we returned in the evening we had to make the beds ourselves.

The hotel is a convent from the 13th century near San Gimignano. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The pool is large for a small hotel. There are two hot tubs available. The hotel includes a breakfast which was a buffet with an omelette bar. Lunch is limited to sandwiches by the pool or pizza for dinner. ||You do not feel crowded and the quiet environment allows for relaxation after crowds of Rome or Florence. San Gimignano is not as time demanding to view and I would recommend La Colegiata for a short break from sight seeing. The staff was friendly and rooms were clean.||We enjoyed a wine tasting in a vineyard one evening a nd a cooking class with lunch the next day.||II would consider staying there again.

Beautiful property and friendly staff. We stayed here for 6 nights with our 3 month old. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was great but the same options for 6 days got a little boring after some time. Also for food after hours you have to drive to town. One suggestion I would make is to add a coffee or tea maker in the room. It was advertised as the rooms have one but they don’t. A lot of early mornings I would have loved to enjoy some coffee/espresso on my balcony but did not have the option. And the Restaurant doesn’t open till 8am. Overall still great stay.

It was a memorable stay! The resort is quiet, clean, cozy and royal and historical. It was a monastery 500 years ago. The view from the gardens is stunning! The staff is very nice, friendly and professional! I would definitely go back in the future!

What an amazing experience we had at La Collegiata. Driving up to the old monastery along the beautifully tree lined driveway and arriving in this magnificent greenery and impeccably maintained gardens around the whole property. With palatial hedges/gardens and an old Italian atmosphere it really was a special experience. A very special shout out to Stefano and Erika for making our experience exceptional. |Also to the owners if you are reading this - please dress your amazing staff in SUMMER uniforms rather than winter

When I win the lottery, I’m just going to move in as a permanent guest and live there. The place and the staff were so amazing. There are just not words to describe the views of San Gimignano. The food was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and the wonderful woman who served us every day. Stefano was the person who made our omelette. He was also amazing.

A wonderful hotel, full of charm and real character with outstanding, knowledgeable service. A quick 20 minute walk into San Gimignano where Stephano recommended terrific restaurants for lunch or dinner, and also other towns to visit. So quiet, such beautiful gardens and a large, wonderful, quiet pool. Thank you!

Yelp
Excellent location, beautiful room with a balcony. Cold air conditioning and fantastic dinner at the hotel. Pool is also very nice. Many German travelers who recognize the beauty and value of the property. The only 2 things I would change. 1.) breakfast was lots of carbs and it cost extra for eggs and omelets 2.) the mattress was a bit worn out I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Our first room had black mold. After some arm bending got a mold free room. Scenery and setting is gorgeous.

Yelp
You are certainly only paying for the amazing building. It is plenty expensive but there was no soap in the bathroom (had to ask for some) no lotion, tissues or "luxury items", despite the luxury price. Breakfast mediocre and the same items reappeared every morning but no way of toasting bread. The reason I gave it a three star was for the incredible staff, warm and welcoming. Whatever they are paying Charlie and Stefano, it's not enough. We felt that the place was struggling and cutting corners, such a shame. We were due to stay 5 nights but left after 3
