A lovely experience. My wife and I had a beautiful room with a balcony with views of the sea and overlooking the garden. The staff were very helpful and friendly, our breakfast was good and varied. It was like our home from home. There were some good restaurants nearby. And we spent our days hiking from village to village with wonderful views of the Mediterranean coastline and countryside. Monterosso is a delightful village with an ancient history which you can sense in the churches and the architecture and the kindness of the local people.

We arrived in the gorgeous town of Monterosso and walked up a charming street that leads right to Hotel La Colonnina. From the moment we stepped inside, the warmth of the staff set the tone. We were instantly greeted with homemade lemonade and cake to enjoy on the garden terrace while our check in was finalized. Just as we sat down, the church bells rang noon. It was a truly special moment. Our room was charming and included a private balcony that we loved. A must is the rooftop sundeck where you can take in sweeping views of the beautiful town. Breakfast was wonderful too. The cappuccinos came with foam art featuring local sea life, a small touch that made us smile each morning. The staff recommended excellent local restaurants and kindly held our luggage so we could explore the surrounding towns with ease. Excellent service and an all around delightful experience. Highly recommend.

Perfect place to stay! I was here three nights and they took such good care of me. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I was greeted with fresh made lemon juice on the front terrace and the front desk staff helped me plan my hike for the next day, including booking park pass tickets for me. The location could not be more ideal. Best restaurants in Monterosso steps away, yet the hotel is quiet and serene. Easy walk to beach and train as well!

Absolute gem! The service was amazing, rooms were comfortable and clean. The location is perfect for walking. We loved our stay here! The best part was the breakfast and the thoughtfulness of the chefs. It was clear they took pride in their breakfast offerings right down to the designs in the cappuccino. I would stay here again!

By far the best lodging option in Cinque Terre / Monterroso al Mare. We measure ratings on location and available accommodations so let's be real here, there isn't a Ritz or Luxury Collection brand hotel in the area to measure against and still, we were treated as though we were staying at one. We arrived ahead of normal check-in and knew through research we were to expect a beverage in the garden with initial hotel introduction. The owner / manager and desk staff sent instructions to others while we were escorted to the garden. I have never seen lemons the size of those growing in the garden and found it quite relaxing after a train ride and quick walk from the station. We were discussing leaving bags and exploring when staff notified us our room was prepared ahead of check in time. Our room was on the 4th floor and my goodness, stunning views, outside patio amenities and a room bigger than we would have ever expected. The room was spotless, allowed manual control of temperature settings (part of my rating checklist), had excellent amenities for both room and bathroom. No issues with available hot water, noise or any concerns to safety. I personally had a sense the hotel takes security seriously, which is not something you would commonly experience. There is contraction happening with an expansion to one side of the hotel which was not an issue inside the room. We had hoped to have coffee outside on the patio but these things happen and you go with the flow. Monterosso was #1 on my wife's bucket list of locations during this vacation and I have to say, this hotel and its staff made it fantastic for both of us. Breakfast offerings were plentiful and you need to listen to the wise lady making espresso and cappuccino's when she suggests ideas of things to do. I still don't know which hotel I left a pair of blue Nike golf pants at so, if anyone from La Colonnina is reading this, if you found them, hold on because we will be back.

Lovely commons area. Delicious breakfast. The building was a challenge to navigate. I never quite figured out the numbering system for the rooms. No balcony but our room opened to an interior, quite small, courtyard. We had a lovely stay. Location was especially noteworthy.

Hotel la Colonnina was a wonderful hotel. We enjoyed our stay immensely. It's a short trek from the parking garage if you are driving like we did, and if you take the train it's also a short trek, but they give you very good directions when you book. And it's worth it. Once you're there, it's the perfect location. It's so close to the water where you can lay out and swim, and it's also right next to excellent restaurants and a ton of shops. It's set back from the main road, so it's quiet. The rooms were so nice and spacious. The bed was amazing, and the air conditioning really works. It was the hottest part of late June, and we were actually so comfortably cool in our room, so it was the best AC we had our whole trip. The staff are super helpful and accommodating. There is a nice terrace where you can enjoy beverages, as well. The hotel gives you a discount on the train so you can visit other Cinque Terre towns, which was awesome, and it was super easy to purchase the ticket directly from them at arrival. It was a wonderful hotel, and we highly recommend it.

Pleased with our stay. Hotel is nicely tucked away, yet not a far walk away from the beach, hiking trail, village, etc. There easily visible signs along the way to help you get there. Hotel staff helped us with our bags, welcomed us with a refreshing drink and slice of cake, and gave us a good amount of info. It's pretty clutch that you can purchase the hiking trail and local train tickets at the front desk - it made visiting each town super easy. The included breakfast is a nice touch. Like others have commented, the hotel inventory in Cinque Terre is not like other cities/towns, but this place does offer nice service, staff, spacious/clean rooms. It's really all you can ask for!

Yelp
Small and cute hotel the only problem is that we came in April and it was in seasonably cold and dropped down to the 40s. I had to ask for three blankets to keep warm. They refused to put up heat. The coffee is not very good and the breakfast is, very average. If it's chilly, you can't use the indoor space too gather because it's too cold. I'm not sure what it's like here in the summer, but the rooms are clean and cute and have all the basics that you need for the price.

Yelp
Yay! I am the first to post! This hotel is very nice. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfast was tasted with cereals, eggs and home made cakes. The nice server makes shapes of hearts and ducks and fish with your cappuccino foam. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. They give you a welcome lemonade and cookies when you arrive. They all speak English very well. I highly recommend them.
