What a wonderful find! It was our favorite place to stay in all of Italy. We knew of the twin beds prior to our stay-which is unique to us Americans but it ended up being comfortable and the room decor was chic. The location was beautiful -with lovely views. The breakfast was the very best! The homemade pasties and tortes by the talented French woman were such a treat! The ambience for breakfast was perfect-such a nice way to begin the day. And the hotel staff was beyond kind and helpful. We will return!

Loved, loved, our stay at La Colonnina Hotel in Monterosso. We stayed 3 nights mid-September, and wish we had stayed longer! So glad we opted for our 3 nights, 4 full days while enjoying all of the 5 towns in Cinque Terre at this lovely boutique hotel. A large buffet breakfast was served in their breakfast room, and it was the perfect start to the day. One can also relax on the front patio or above on their small rooftop terrace with some wonderful views. Our room had a private patio which was especially nice. This charming hotel is a short, easy walk from the waterfront. Quietly situated on a side street. Oh, especially wonderful was Antiana who was the greeter of all who enter, she manned the front desk, poured our drinks from the tiny little bar, answered our many questions, etc., etc., and was soooo delightful in chatting with our entire stay. Our stay at La Colonnina Hotel was the perfect ending to our 17 day Italy vacation. When we revisit Cinque Terre we will definitely make this hotel our home base again. Thank you La Colonnina Hotel, Antiana and staff! Tom & Michele from Boston.

We had a lovely stay and the staff were all so welcoming and friendly. The small touches such as homemade lemonade and cake on arrival were appreciated. The staff went out there way to help us book our trail passes etc for us. The location was perfect a small walk to everything and quiet to get a good sleep. Recommend this hotel to others staying in the area.

So convenient, fantastic amenities such as a rooftop terrace and delicious breakfast. Every single person on the staff was incredibly helpful and kind, especially Sussa! Comfortable bed, very clean rooms, and a discounted train + trekking card as well. I would definitely recommend staying at La Colonnina!

I returned to this hotel after a previous visit because I had been charmed by the lemonade on arrival, quiet but convenient location, and pretty lobby garden. On this second stay I surmised the welcome lemonade was part of a tight system to get guests checked in efficiently if not effectively. Other basic amenities were absent. During the helpful but lengthy process to get train passes and various trail passes in the lobby I started feeling nauseated. They do not provide complimentary drinking water in the rooms or in the lobby (the tap water may be good, but it still comes from an ecosystem different than what a foreign traveler's gut my be used to). I asked for water and they offered to sell me a bottle. I had one in my room so I just went up. They don't provide facial tissues either, by the way. And no room service. They don't explain the plumbing in the guest bathroom. We figured out how to get hot water but we had no idea the same valve that allows hot water also controls water to the toilet...until we had an issue and requested help. We also learned the hard way on day 2 that there isn't likely to be hot water left after about 10:00 a.m. each day. That's not such a rare thing. But when I inquired about the limited hot water, on the way out one day just to make sure nothing was wrong, the desk agent only wanted to take me back upstairs and show me how the water valves work. I explained that I had previously taken a hot shower and had somewhere to be so I declined returning to the room. She never provided any follow up. I don't know whether they checked the system but I had both hot showers and cold showers at all hours after that. I learned the answer I had sought. A high point is that the AC is modern and works well. Overall the crew is efficient and civil. The breakfast team was especially kind. %hey helped immensely when one if us fell ill and I needed to carry breakfast on trays to the room. The front desk team helped with taxi and restaurant reservations but patience on bith sides was limited. Patience wears out. One morning there was confusion over whether quoting us a price in Euro meant "Euro or US Dollars" as a credit card choice or "cash required". Sometimes it's one, sometimes the other. The desk agent eventually said "We have told you it's Euro three times" and grumbled in Italian. They wanted cash in this particular instance. This hotel kept us guessing and feeling awkward. It's a pretty, economy hotel. Accordingly, the beds are firm and the pillows flat. A hard sleep is a healthy sleep in some philosophies.

We found this to be a most charming hotel with attentive staff, an excellent breakfast with home made items and a lovely shady garden in which to relax. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would happily stay there again if we return to Monterosso. A real gem

The staff is very friendly and welcoming. You get a welcome drink and pastry on arrival. They sell the cinque terra park card right there, which is very convenient. Breakfast is delicious with lots of food variety. Room is clean and comfortable. They have a lovely roof top terrace for sunbathing and snacking. Location is excellent in the old town and 15 minute walk from the train station. Highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Small and cute hotel the only problem is that we came in April and it was in seasonably cold and dropped down to the 40s. I had to ask for three blankets to keep warm. They refused to put up heat. The coffee is not very good and the breakfast is, very average. If it's chilly, you can't use the indoor space too gather because it's too cold. I'm not sure what it's like here in the summer, but the rooms are clean and cute and have all the basics that you need for the price.

Yelp
Yay! I am the first to post! This hotel is very nice. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfast was tasted with cereals, eggs and home made cakes. The nice server makes shapes of hearts and ducks and fish with your cappuccino foam. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. They give you a welcome lemonade and cookies when you arrive. They all speak English very well. I highly recommend them.
