"'Fellini always stayed at the Grand Hotel Rimini when he returned to his hometown,' says Itzkowitz. 'And dining on the terrace on a warm evening feels like traveling back in time to his dolce vita heyday.' Offered only in the summertime, those dinners don’t come cheap, but it’s hard to put a price tag on the ambience." - Elizabeth Heath Elizabeth Heath Elizabeth Heath is a writer and editor living on a hill in Umbria, from where she writes about travel in Italy, the rest of Europe, and farther afield. Ideally situated in a quiet street near the Marina Centrale, this hotel is a great place to stay. I stayed a couple of nights out of season, so Rimini was quiet, but La Dolce Vita is near the centre and is easily accessible by local transport, including the new Metromare, which arrives aat the nearby Kennedy station incredibly quickly! My room was excellent, with a comfortable bed and a modern bathroom. The breakfast buffet was very good in a very pleasant first floor room. The staff were very friendly and obviously Fellini fans, with film posters everywhere. They kindly lent me a bike to get to the RDS Stadium for a concert, so I was back much quicker than if I'd had to walk!!

Approx 15 minutes walk from the train station, I had difficulty in finding the hotel when I arrived but no problem finding it after that. I arrived around 12.00, well before check in time but was told that my room would be ready at 13.00. As I was going to spend the afternoon in San Marino, I left my bag which was put in to a secure left luggage room & headed off returning around 17.00. ||A very easy, very friendly check in by the hotel owner, who spoke fluent English, followed. My passport details were taken, breakfast times, Info on Wi fi & what to see in Rimini were discussed & in no time, with room key, not key card, in hand, I was in the lift up to my 2nd floor room. (The key has to be left at reception when not in the hotel.)||A nice sized room, clean & comfortable with a tiled floor, 2 single beds, small work desk & 2 chairs, excellent & easy to control air con, bedside lockers, mirror, small wall mounted tv with numerous channels but unfortunately, as was the case in the 5 hotels that I stayed in on this trip, no English language channels, decent sized wardrobe, full mirror, wall mounted hairdryer, smoke alarm & a number of spare electrical sockets. As my room was located at the corner of the building, I had a nice sized balcony with 2 chairs overlooking the streets to the front & side of the hotel. Complimentary Wi fi was excellent, accessed by password, quick to connect to with fast browsing speed & very reliable. An abundance of natural light thanks to the patio doors leading to the balcony & shutters for those doors ensured that I had no issues with noise from outside of the hotel. No noise problems from inside of the hotel either.||The bathroom was a nice size, separated from the bedroom by a small hallway. Very clean with a tiled floor, partially tiled walls, small bottles of hair/bodywash/shampoo, plenty of towels, wall mounted electric heater, bidet, a small, fairly cramped shower cubicle with a shower head & hose on a rail with good pressure & plenty of hot water. A window with electric shutter gave natural light & fresh air.||I went down for breakfast around 07.30 & there was only one guest already there so, no problem getting a table in the large restaurant. A really good continental buffet breakfast with cereals, boiled eggs, toast, bread rolls, yoghurts, croissants, pastries, cheese, salami, ham slices, biscuits, crackers, bread sticks, rusk bread, spreads, coffee, tea, flavoured teas, orange juice, multivitamin drink & mineral water.||There is a small bar located next to the reception desk & several chairs outside the main entrance of the hotel. I had bought a couple of bottles of beer in a supermarket in the town centre with the intention of chilling out & drinking them in my room. When I entered the hotel the owner noticed them & asked me if I wanted to put them in to the bar fridge to cool them. I asked if he minded if I sat outside & drank them there as it was a very pleasant evening & he said that was fine & he gave me a glass. I spent a very pleasant hour enjoying those beers & talking to the owner about everything from Serie A football to politics.||Checking out was, like checking in, fast & friendly.||The hotel location is excellent. As already mentioned, approx 15 minutes walk from the train station, very close to the beach & less than 20 minutes walk to the very attractive town centre.||In short, an excellent hotel with an exceptionally friendly & helpful owner & staff. Well worth booking if staying in Rimini.

We spent 2 weeks in this nice family run hotel. Maria & Paolo, the owners, are a very nice and hard working couple running the hotel with the help of their kids and of Sandra and Gigi. We have only pleasant memories, positive feedback to Paolo & Maria, and do recommend this hotel. Breakfasts are budget, but everything was tasty. Free Wi-Fi. Our room was very nice, not big, but comfortable and sunny. Location is very good: not on the crowded street but close to everything: the sea, the stores and restaurants. 15-20 minutes to the central, oldest part of Rimini. 5 min walk to the beach. Good value for the money.

Great hospitality, friendly and helpful owners, clean and well equipped room - a bar of soap, gel and three towels, warm bedsheets, heating, hair dryer, air conditioning, daily cleaning, clean bathroom, superb breakfasts with great choice and service. . We arrived to stay just one night, as we had a great location and view of the sea and we felt great, stayed a day more. I highly recommend.

Loved our recent stay here, great value for money. While the rooms are very basic, they are super clean, service from the lovely family here is great. Location to the beach is a 2min walk from the hotel. Highly recommend
