La Guitoune (Pyla sur Mer, Nouvelle Aquitaine) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"An hour’s drive from Bordeaux on the Atlantic coast is Pyla-sur-Mer, home to a well-known family-run hotel whose renovations have ensured it stays relevant for a new generation of travelers. Interior designer Bambi Sloan preserved the neo-Basque façade and turned the interiors into a vintage-inspired fantasy, one that wears its modern electronics and comforts lightly. It offers all the attractions you’d expect from a seaside hotel, plus access to the Dune du Pilat, the largest sand dune in Europe. As well as a stylish restaurant and bar, also designed by Ms. Sloan." - Tablet Hotels

La Guitoune, a Design Boutique Hotel Pyla-sur-Mer, France

"Set facing Arcachon Bay, a 5-minute walk from the Pyla Dune, La Guitoune offers an onsite restaurant and a large bar where you can enjoy a cocktail. La Guitoune offers 24 rooms equipped with a private bathroom and separate toilet. Some rooms have a terrace or a balcony. The building was designed by architect Bambi Sloan. The restaurant’s chef, Brice Tomico, serves fresh and gourmet dishes made with local products. The desserts are created by Jeremie Grondin and breakfast is served each morning in the restaurant. At La Guitoune, seminars and meetings can be held in an atypical private room with a capacity of 30 people." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Fabulous dinner twice in one week. Great atmosphere. Lovely decor. Staff attentive and even though most diners were seated on the terrace we weren't overlooked. It has become our "go to" restaurant especially when we need reliability and consistency entertaining family & friends. Never disappoints.

A Bar With Rooms - not a hotel.||The good bits:|- well located to visit the dunes |- bikes to hire |- good shower and roomy and comfortable bed ||The bad bits:|- no hotel service - we were given the key and that was it no information at all|- we had two rooms next to eachother rooms were dark and on ground floor so if we opened the nets everyone from the car park could see us. It also made it difficult to use the very small balcony |- the hotel rents out the restaurant and car parkto other people / business for events so on two days the whole restaurant was closed and one evening there was a huge party right outside our bedroom windows which went on from 5pm to 3am, despite the management telling us it would stop at 12. It started with local music and tapas and turned into hard banging rave music from 12 to 3 with people shouting and laughing. We got no sleep. We complained to the management who said ‘did you not get the email?’ Which they sent two days before our arrival letting us know of a music night and inviting us for a drink. What could we do two days before our arrival? Change our holiday? And it was heavily down played - it was not a music night it was a rave night |- breakfast was expensive and poor ||This hotel is not cheap but they rent out the facilities to other people at the expense of their hotel guests - to maximise profit. |There is no way in a million years we would return ||Ps bring lots of bug spray my two teenaged children and myself got about 20 insect bites in two days. We aren’t sure if this was bed bugs

We loved the decor of the hotel and we booked a room with a terrace which was very nice. And the staff is the nicest. We also enjoyed the location which was great to go to the dune de Pyla and Biscarrosse. There is also a nice little town within walking distance.

⸻||Beautiful location, but overall a disappointing stay. My breakfast order never arrived despite following the instructions, and when I asked at reception, no one knew anything. Ended up on the terrace with an almost empty buffet and unfriendly staff who made me feel like a bother just for ordering a latte macchiato. The room was also dusty, with cobwebs in the corners and dust-covered light fixtures. Such a shame, given how lovely the place could be.

Lovely check in Experience, such a warm welcome. Had a great dinner and everyone made us feel very welcome with our two dogs. 5 stars for pet friendly. Even bowls bed and treats :) Perfect location near the beach and forest for walks. Would come back for sure.

Reception staff is very helpful, trying to fulfil all wishes. Felt welcome when entering the hotel with the first step. I had a basic room with small balcony. All is very new and cleaned well. Only small thing: TV (very modern one) not connected with Internet and only French channels. That can be improved for International customers. Room very quiet, despite facing the street. Very exiting to taste breakfast buffet tomorrow :-)

The hotel is charming with a very pleasant terrace, situated just across from the beach. We stayed in two cottages which are decently sized with a super comfy king sized bed and great shower. ||We had dinner and breakfast there, both very good. ||Check in and out was quick and easy. ||The cherry on top is their service. The staff are lovely. Warm, friendly and very helpful. Thank you so much guys, you were all amazing!||We will definitely stay there again when we visit Arcachon again (which in itself is fabulous!). Well worth a visit.
