We stayed in Paris at another hotel for 6 nights and then headed down to Nice. The other hotel was similarly located and priced. When we returned to Paris, we decided we wanted to try somewhere new and decided to stay at Hotel La Lanterne.
The good stuff: this hotel is very cute! The lobby, the rooms, and the wellness/pool/hamam.
The staff were very nice and tried to be helpful, however, maybe they are overworked? We frequently had to wait.. wait for someone to come to the lobby to give or get our key, wait to ask questions, to have requests responded to. They were always willing... it just began to be frustrating. Next, the rooms are small. They make good use of the space, however, we stayed in similar hotels in Paris, and had more room. The location was good, however, (just personal preference) we enjoyed being a little closer to the Seine and main metro stations.
All of this would be fine, EXCEPT, the lack of sound proofing. As we were falling asleep we heard the elevator coming and going, people entering rooms, putting stuff in their closets. We heard it all. I struggled to sleep (which is the main purpose of the hotel!) and was exhausted!!! And if we could hear them, they can hear us...
The pool and hamam are cute and a great luxury/convenience, especially after a long day. However, it doesn't feel like they have the staff to keep this area up. There were towels and disposable flip flops everywhere. They ran out of towels and soaking wet I had to go up to the lobby and request more and as stated before, they are overworked so it took awhile to get them. They have to turn on the hamam themselves and the feels like a design flaw. In addition, the hamam had pink and black mildew in the grout on the walls and on the ceiling.
Breakfast - mehhh. not worth mentioning.
We really wanted to love it because it is cute, centrally located, and had the pool/hamam. However, due to the above, it is just okay.
