My wife and I had a wonderful stay at La Maison de Rhodes. Kamil and Julie gave us such a warm and charming welcome, it’s clear this hotel is a true family gem. The historical setting is stunning, beautifully decorated, with cozy areas perfect for unwinding. The swimming pool and picturesque garden, complete with a few inviting chairs, made for a lovely spot to relax. We often drive through France from London to reach Geneva or the ski resorts, and this was such a delightful stopover. There’s so much to discover in Troyes, we can’t wait to return!

Beautiful hotel in historic town, we stayed twice in one week. Beds super comfy. Easy parking outside ( quite fortunate) and gentle stroll into centre. Plenty of restaurants to sample. One request, coffee machine in rooms would be a nice touch!

This hotel is definitely dining out on its good location and the fact that it is a beautiful old historic building. We do not understand the five star rating. ||There was no air conditioning in our room which made for an uncomfortable night in mid August. The staff knew it wasn’t working but pretended it was. As soon as I raised the issue, they said that it works best at the 20 degree rather than 16 degree temperature setting. The aircon unit didn’t produce cooled air but just acted as a fan. Each time I raised the issue of the aircon, the staff pretended it worked and then got annoyed with me for suggesting the room was not worth what we paid for it. ||The water flow rate was so slow that the bath literally took 40 minutes to run. There was no proper shower option (just a handheld shower over the bath which trickled water out). ||There was no fridge in the room. Just a small bottle of water, kettle and teas. ||The breakfast wasn’t worth the money charged for it - very little choice. ||I see that the manager of the hotel has been sending for a couple of years now a stock response to poor reviews saying that they are sorry for the experience and will look to improve things. I can assure you that things have not improved!

We stayed in this beautiful historical hotel for one night on the way back to the UK from a week in Provence and wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is lovely with two peaceful internal courtyards where we had drinks and breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was excellent. It's 5 - 10 minutes to all the shops and restaurants in the centre of Troyes. We would definitely go back. Highly recommended.

We had email exchanges with La Maison De Rhodes before our visit so we were already confident that this was a well-run hotel, but the reality was so much more. ||Firstly, inside and outside it is stunning - the old stone and wood frontage of the property and wrought ironwork lead you to a wood beamed interior, exposed brickwork, lots of dried flowers and plump sofas. ||Our room was stunning with ceiling beams, white linen and stone floors and a very comfortable bed.||The location was ideal, down a side street by the Cathedral.||The staff were friendly and very helpful, providing restaurant recommendations, arranging taxis etc||We had a really lovely 3 days in Troyes and La Maison de Rhodes was a huge part of that.

This was our first visit to Troyes to explore the lesser-known region of Champagne. When we checked in we got upgraded to a beautiful suite. The ancient building has been tastefully upgraded without losing its historical charm. The desk staff is very friendly but could use a bit more training. It is located in the historic city center, and you can walk to the cathedral, which I could also see from the bathroom window. The grounds are beautiful and they even have a small pool. I would say that this is more of a romantic hotel and not suited for children. It's expensive and other guests won't want the atmosphere ruined by children. If you are handicapped, this is not the place for you either as you will have to do some stairs. We loved the intimate restaurant, but a little staff training could be used there too. Food is very good, if not a bit expensive, as is the breakfast at 31 euros. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at this historic property.

Really enjoyed our stopover here, a well furnished ancient building although with lots of steps up and down and around just near the cathedral. Rooms round the courtyards. Ours was on the ground floor with a vast bathroom and interesting architecture, a ‘wow’ on first seeing. Bed very comfortable. Meal was good home cooking, but thats French home cooking so excellent. Breakfast everything superb quality. And the rose window in the cathedral was worth the trip. Minor inconvenience was very poor lighting in bedroom, difficult for older eyes.
