Hôtel La Maison du Lierre Bordeaux Centre, a Design Boutique Hotel Bordeaux, France

"La Maison du Lierre is a boutique hotel offering free WiFi and a prime location in the centre of Bordeaux. It is a 10-minute walk from the Grand Theatre - Opera National de Bordeaux and a 5-minute walk from the Allée de Tourny. Guest rooms at La Maison du Lierre have an en suite bathroom, TV and telephone. The hotel is completely non-smoking, all rooms have air conditioning and some have views of the patio. A traditional breakfast is served daily and when the weather is nice, this can be enjoyed on the patio. La Maison du Lierre is a 5-minute walk to Place des Quinconces. Here there is a tram stop served by lines B and C, which gives easy access to the rest of the city." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

I made a reservation with Hôtel La Maison du Lierre Bordeaux via booking.com for one night in September. The hotel "initiated a free cancellation" link, without even contacting me to explain why. I reached out and they said "Indeed, we requested cancellation because we no longer have your room available following renovations in our hotel. However, you can book directly in order to offer you other rooms as well as their prices." I asked them to cancel the booking but instead they have now marked my Credit Cards as 'invalid' (twice) instead of cancelling. This is incredibly strange behaviour from a business. They have not responded to my messages asking them to cancel the request instead. Per booking.com's terms of service: "If you’re experiencing unforeseen issues and can’t accommodate your guests, you must report this to our customer service. They’ll support you with the cancellation request and relocation of the guests, if applicable." This hotel has not done any of those things and instead is providing very poor customer service.

We really loved our stay here. It is a small and cute boutique hotel with a nice garden and friendly personnel. It is located centrally so, you can walk to all the hotspots in Bordeaux or use alternative transportation 🚲 or step. The room was sparkling clean and there were good measures with regards to COVID-19. The breakfast in the garden was straightforward and good as well.

The service and breakfast were exceptional! The room was very clean. My only complaint would be that the pillows were not very comfortable, which can be a personal preference. We found them to be a bit lumpy.

A perfect place to stay in Bordeaux. Room was clean and very cozy. The hotel was spotless and the receptionist extremely helpful. Bathroom and bed sizes bigger than the usual French places.

Excellent service. Checked in with my wife and baby and they upgraded us to a bigger room with air con for no extra charger. Breakfast was only nine euro and had lavish selection of fresh produce. Thoroughly recommend!

BEWARE of being verbally assaulted by aggressive hotel owner. Unfortunately, I booked a stay for September at this horrible hotel, and I have never been treated so poorly in my life. My first night stay was miserable and I had no sleep because the air conditioning would only come on for 3 seconds and then it would not work. Reception closes at 8pm so I was out of luck for help that night. I also had a bad night sleep because before dawn they were doing I don't know what below my room, but it sounded as if they were moving furniture around and it was constant. I finally had to give up on trying to sleep and woke up exhausted. Here comes the worst part ever... I went downstairs that morning to let the hotel know that the AC was not working and ask if there was a different room I could move to. I found the hotel Owner at the front desk. As soon as I uttered the words that the AC didn't work for me, she started to AGGRESSIVELY YELL at me that it did work, without even coming to the room to check for herself. I tried about 6 times to slowly communicate to her that it did not work and I wanted them to look at it. Each time she would shout at me that it worked and then she even shouted at me that "YOU ALL press all the buttons." So we went it circles which made no sense, and I could not take the aggression she was using the ENTIRE time. I had to interject and ask her to stop being so rude to me, but she just kept on and got more and more aggressive. Then I had to mention that I needed a different room because of all of the noise, then she got even more aggressive, huffing and puffing looking to see in her computer. She told me they were booked and again extremely aggressively shouted at me to ask me what I wanted. I told her I would have to unfortunately stay one more night because I was going out of the city for the day, but I would have to change hotels because I no longer felt comfortable to stay in a hotel where someone would treat me with such aggression and yell at me. I was besides myself and so stressed by the way this woman treated me. Unacceptable! I was asking for normal things to be helped with in order to have a comfortable stay. Never in my life would I imagine that a reception employee, let alone an owner, would verbally attack me. I do not exaggerate. I never in my life have been treated like that, and I travel all of the time. I was on the verge of tears from being so upset, and that certainly didn't stop her either. I should also add that you should be aware that the hotel has all very old wooden floors and the walls are paper thin, so you here every move and sound people make. I then spent my day stressed out and exhausted after the way I was treated, and I had to cancel plans for that evening in order to search for new accomodations. When I went downstairs to check out, she once again immediately exploded on me. No apology for her behavior the previous morning. Instead she again aggressively started shouting at me and starting going on and on again about the AC. Again I was inthe verge of tears from being so upset, and I still remained calm with my tone just like the day before, but I had to sit there and take her aggressive behavior as she continued to shout at me. I again told her that I could not stay another second in her hotel after the way she treated me. I told her I was checking out and would only pay for the 2 nights I had to stay. I had to again go in circles with her. She would yell at me and then smile and say bonjour to guests as they were walking out. Something seriuously wrong with her. YOU DO NOT TREAT GUESTS WITH AGGRESSION, period. BEWARE OF THIS HOTEL OWNER. She will I'm sure insist I was rude. I was completely professional in my intractions with her, but she wasn't there to listen to me. She just wanted to shout at me that nothing was wrong with her hotel and didn't care that she was aggressively attacking me. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR HER ATTACKING A GUEST.

We've been there several times and we have always been pleased. It's very close to city center and there are parkings around. Very good breakfast!

A tranquil haven in the centre of the city. The room was ideal and the little courtyard garden was a serene retreat. Everything you need for a city break.
