If you are accustomed to staying in 5 star hotels with turn down service and terry cloth robes, do not come to El Salvador. If you want to experience this beautiful country without luxury, stay at the Hotel La Palma. The grounds are beautiful. Rooms are clean and comfortable. It's cool at night in the mountains, so it was wonderful sleeping with the windows open. I shared a room with 2 other women, as there were not enough rooms for our group to all have doubles. We had 4 beds, however, and plenty of space. There was hot water in the shower (not everywhere in El Salvador). The crepes I had for breakfast were delicious! The hotel is within walking distance of the town center and the Semilla de Dios - the artist community specializing in the La Palma style art founded by Fernando Llort. We did not use the swimming pool, but it looked very pleasant. I recommend this hotel and a visit to La Palma! I do not know the exact rates for the rooms, as I was part of a group whose rooms were paid for by the leader.
