Fantastic location, unique view directly onto the lake. Super friendly staff 😊, they even provided 2 dog beds and 2 bowls for our Labradors! Well-balanced breakfast. Everything within walking distance (old town) We will definitely be back.

I made a last-minute booking for 2 nights on booking dot com. Check-in was a breeze, staff were friendly and helpful. Clean, comfortable room. I had a little trouble with the thermostat but nothing worth complaining about. They arranged a ride to the airport for me the afternoon before my departure. Overall, a lovely modern stay in a historic lakeside town.

We had a lovely 5 night stay here in a side view lake room. The nearby construction did not bother us at all and we still had a nice view of the Borromeo Islands. Breakfast good with a nice choice and good coffee. Room was nice, good bathroom and lovely comfy beds. The beach club on the lake is really nice as is the rooftop bar. Staff were really helpful with dinner reservations sorting us one out at La Botte (highly recommend). We also enjoyed dinners at Grano Duro and Viccoletto.||We did feel the price of the drinks at the Beach Club and bar were a little too high, the location obviously demands a premium but at 15euros a pop for an Aperol Spritz we didn’t have many and chose to wander into the town and check out the local little bars. ||Will definitely be visiting again. Great location on beautiful Maggiore and a quick walk into main Stresa. There’s an incredible sandwich show there too called Cininin.

We loved this hotel. Staff really friendly, great location, great breakfast, very clean rooms. We got upgraded for 3/7 nights and had a deluxe lake view room which was an unexpected lovely surprise. I cannot fault the hotel. We had such a lovely holiday and would definitely consider staying at La Palma again.

What a fabulous hotel, we spent a week here during the middle of September. Have been to Stresa many times before, but our first stay at La Palma, we will definitely be back. The friendliness and high quality staff, fabulous rooms, the terrific Sky Bar and the pool next to the lake are first class. The food at breakfast and the view from the restaurant to Lake Maggiore was stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We enjoyed a 4 night stay here half board. The hotel has a great ambience, very clean and well managed. Rooms very comfortable. Loved the pool area at the front. Staff exceptional in all areas. The waiters are exceptional, reception team friendly and knowledgeable and the cleaning staff exceptional. The restaurant has lovely views and a relaxed atmosphere. Quality of breakfast very good - though a little chaotic. Dinner was nice - though menu a little limited so would struggle with half board if there longer. All in all a very pleasant stay.

The right hotel for us! Modern, fresh, delicate and spacious. We had a Superior room with Lake View. Wonderful sleep in a very comfortable bed. The right choice. I could live with that view every day. The ideal activity on the lake with some boats going back and forth to Isola Bella and the other cities along this coast. The Receptionist when we arrived has to be mentioned. Seldom have I met a more relaxed, professional and friendly person in a reception. Naturally service minded! Impressive! One more! The roof terrace has an absolutely perfect view and the sun set late, even in October. The service on the roof terrace was very friendly and attentive. If anything could be better it would be the breakfast service by this big "team of men". A bit old fashioned service. We will come back to this hotel if we go to Stresa again. Very well done!. Absolutely our taste.

Whilst the location is excellent some of the important touches were missing and the staff could have been proactive and communicated better. We booked over a year ago for two deluxe rooms with partial lake view and without any mention we ended up overlooking a building site on speaking to the manager the only option was to pay €50 a night for an upgrade! So avoid room numbers on all floors, we were 202 and 210. There are also no separate hairdryers in the room and lose wires and dogs in the hotel. Such a shame as it has the potential to be amazing with a bit more of a human touch.

Yelp
Ok nice hotel with superb pool and roof bar. BUT Andrea at the pool bar makes the best gin and tonic EVER! He is creative, attentive and fun ... while taking care of everyone. Worth visiting just for his recipe!

Yelp
The room is clean, up to date, decor is elegant & tasteful. The front desk speak English and very cooperative. There was only 1 tissue left, and when I went downstairs for breakfast, I mentioned it to the front desk and told him what room we're in, and he was on his phone calling someone PRONTO! Lots of selection for breakfast to choose from. Coffee, if you want special you need to ask for it. One of our group did that, but I wasn't sure if they charged, he did asked her room number. You can lock the dressers and take the keys with you. The Water Taxi to visit the Isola Bella (a must see while staying in Stresa), is right across the street! Visit the 7th floor Bar, and have lunch while enjoying the panoramic views of Lake Maggiore and Isola Madre & Isola Bella - it's just beautiful! Some of the photo found in their website, didn't have the blue, gold & white color that we have in our room. Ours is so much Renaissance looking! We did have the lattice blue/gold carpet, that featured in some of the photos! The best part here is the sauna in our bathroom AND the electric shutters! UPDATE: Travelers next to us, said they have problem sleeping the night before, because of the train, that passes right by us. I have SLEPT so good, I didn't hear any train, but I could hear the train whistles from my house in Portland, but today, I heard some trains that sounds like rain drops. Imagine how soft that is! So, to each his/her own. I could hear my husband snoring more than TRAINS going by! Also: others mentioned about the sauna door, they're scared to use the tub because they are afraid the door might fall out or something. We were here for 3 nights, and they told me this morning, they're afraid of falling because of the flimsy 2-fold glass doors! I have NO PROBLEM whatsoever! I AM DELETING one star, because after having dinner here last night, I am showing my negativity about the restaurant. Since we've been traveling from Milan (all day yesterday) and back to Stresa, and after taking a siesta, we're not able to go outside to search for food, decided why not try the restaurant. Of course, it's a 5 star hotel, with very little to choose from. I was craving for the last Risotto (with cut up asparagus) the night before, I wanted more of the same, but I ordered a mixed salad (I added the olive oil & vinegar so I made it so tasty!), which I get to fix & pick myself from the buffet bar. That was a plus! My Risotto, of course took longer to fix, hey I could have ordered the Ravioli, but tonight I am wanting the Risotto (OK?), and on it was about 6 perch breaded fish fillets. I'm looking @ those tiny fishes, the size of my dead 5 years old Goldfish. Poor little things, and they didn't think I needed a knife to cut them into smaller pieces. But, I didn't finish the rest of my Risotto, This is Italy, and we started noticing they don't have black pepper on tables, starting with this hotel!

Yelp
This could have been a five star review because we really enjoyed the sky bar on top of the hotel, it is absolute paradise. We found the hotel to have one of the best locations as well, very close to a lot of good restaurants and shopping in stresa. Housekeeping, wait staff, and all the bartenders were extremely helpful and professional. The one thing that I was reminded of is, one employee that represents your company can really tarnish a customers overall view of your business. My wife and I stayed here for 4 days on the last of 5 parts of our honeymoon. There was an employee at the front desk that was there every day. She was very unpleasant and made condescending remarks the first day to myself and my wife on separate occasions. We blew it off and didn't think much of it because we were there to have a great time. The second night the hotel had problems with several room keys not working. I went down to the front desk and mentioned my problem. They gave me another key that didn't work. I then went down and told them that the key still did not work. The same girl from before acted like I was interrupting and inconveniencing her on both occasions. My wife and I then mentioned that we were heading up to the sauna. She barked back that it closed at 9 and it reopens at 8 in the morning and we cannot go up there. Ok,No problem we said. Next day, after breakfast my wife asked for a robe to go up to the sauna. My wife politely asked this girl at the front desk for a robe, she once again barked back, that will be $10. Ok, some other guests mentioned they have them in the room, but no problem it's only $10. There were 2 other occasions that she really went above and beyond being extremely nasty. We asked for the manager and was told they will not charge us for the robe and sent a bottle of champagne to our room. We said thank you but it was not about that, it was about being treated kindly and with some respect. We met up with a group of alumni from my university back in the states. It was a group of about 15 couples, Several of the couples had similar experiences with her as well. We still had a great time and enjoyed ourselves. My wife and I travel extensively for business and pleasure. We don't typically write too many reviews unless we feel very compelled to do so. This one employee really needs another line of work, not in the hospitality business. I hope that if you decide to stay at Hotel La Palma, that you don't have to deal with this employee and the manager realizes what a detriment she is to the business.
