The 26 Best Beachfront Hotels in Europe

"Puglia, Italy Settled on the water's edge, La Peschiera is the perfect example of a meticulous restoration, going from an ancient fishing reserve to one of the most exclusive, refined hotels in Puglia. Located along the Monopoli coastline, the dreamy beachside bolthole embraces a simple color palette of whites and beiges that perfectly enhances the hypnotic deep blue sea that it overlooks. Here you live and breathe the Adriatic, waking up and falling asleep to the gentle rustle of the waves, and even dine above it on a suspended terrace, where fish is undoubtedly the starring ingredient of Chef Vincenzo Montanaro’s tasting menus. On the other side is a small, private beach, where you experience the leisurely rhythm of the Mediterranean. —Lucrezia Worthington Distance to the water: On the beach Travel time: 58-minute drive from Karol Wojtyla International Airport Price: Rooms from around $434 per night" - Lauren Burvill

Hard to believe how this is still a 5 hotel star and prt of SLH. We have witnessed the decay of this property and their service quality over the years. We used to be regular guests coming twice a year for the last 5 years but at this point this has hit its lowest. Other than the view and breakfast by the water this is not 5 stars hotel nor they make an effort to make you feel your 1500-1800 euro per night is worth it. In this opportunity upon arrival we were denied the option to have dinner at the hotel any night (basically the only reason why we still come here for) due to events that had been booked. They blamed it on us saying we should have reserved (when a pre check e mail does not indicate that) and when its hard to believe that a hotel can simply deny guests and not accommodate options for dinner and prioritize outside reservations. After begging we were offered a really late table and seating for one of the worst dinning experiences ever. A dinner for 4 people costed nearly 1000 euro, awful service, rushed, lack of attention from all staff, grumpy waiters denied the option to remove any fish from their existing menu to accomodate my husbands allergies. We again had to beg for a simple risotto or pasta after being told no, more than twice by waiter and chef. Completely overpriced food, 60 euro for a pasta wirh a tiny bit of lobster. The fresh fish cart to choose from no longer exists. Last day we had to beg for our room to be cleaned at 6:30 pm. Staff is impersonal, unhelpful and manager Francesco is slippery and has the same bad attitude when asked to accommodate any needs. Rooms ran down, facilities old and dirty in some places as well. Your money will be better spent at any of the other hotels nearby.Stay away from this one…

DO NOT STAY HERE! For the outrageous price of over 1500€ per night, the so-called 5* luxury hotel “La Peschiera” falls drastically short of the standards one would expect from this category and price point. Instead, here’s what you can actually expect: - Filthy pools with peeling paint, black mould and dead insects floating in the water - Dead bugs stuck to the curtains in your room and a dirty A/C - Disorganised and poorly trained staff, with NO visible presence of upper management on-site - A shocking lack of attention to small details, such as drying off the dangerously slippery patio after rain (which also happens to be the only access to the rooms), not replacing wet cushions, or even mentioning of à la carte breakfast options after several days! This hotel is a complete rip-off and does not even come close to the quality of other SLH properties! Please save your money and avoid disappointment.

What looks like a luxury escape online is, in reality, a run-down hotel with filthy pools, black mold, and dead bugs on the blinds. The “5-star” service? More like zero-star: staff were untrained, disinterested, and couldn’t care less. For the same price, you could be lounging in a stunning water villa in the Maldives or French Polynesia. Instead, we got grime, decay, and attitude. Avoid.

Fabulous. Casual chic. 6 pools and one sea pool. Plus the ocean. The food is superb.

A gorgeous hotel set right on the water — La Peschiera offers unbeatable sea views and the soothing sound of waves just steps from your room.

Nice location but….|First the good, the location is amazing, nice concept of serving breakfast in your private terrace so you can just roll out of bed. |Breakfast was pretty sparse, fruit consisted of 5 grapes, 2 tiny pieces of pineapple, melon and passionfruit. First morning we were not offered any extras then we found out they do eggs, pancakes etc. when you are paying upwards of 1000 euro a night… |The whole place is very tired, needs a lot of money spent to bring it to 5 star standard. Not sure how it is included in Small Luxury Hotels group. Furniture is poor. Pool chairs are uncomfortable. Towels and bed linen threadbare. Our shower you could barely turn around in. Food options very limited, you can either dine in the restaurant (fine dining and heavy on the seafood) or pay 30 euro for a club sandwich which was cold by the time it got to our room. Housekeeping haphazard. Pools are cold even in August. This place used to be a fish hatchery hence the 7 pools which are mostly waist deep.

Beautiful position with rooms looking over the Adriatic. Our room was just a few metres from the sea! Wonderful staff, all of whom were so friendly and professional. Good food. Well located between Bari and Lecce, where there are great opera houses. Recommend most highly.

Clever photography gives the wrong impression as this place is a little run down. Apart from Saleblu the restaurant. See separate review. ||It’s a small place, 13 rooms. Nicely situated as overlook the sea one side, pool the other. ||Rooms are small and very basic. Grossly overpriced. On the plus side, very clean. ||Nice touch is that each morning breakfast is delivered to you sea view terrace. ||Huge pool plus three others. Amazing for such a small space. Feels quite stark at the poolside. Weds more furniture and foliage. ||The place needs son TLC and would be 4/5 Star. ||Delightful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Genuinely lovely people.
