We have just had our second stay at La Place, we went 2 years ago at Easter & just returned for the weekend before Christmas, a family stay of 2 adults, teenager & 2 children 8 & 9. I found this hotel completely by luck and found it so lovely that we couldn’t wait to go back. We stay in the family suite which is more of a self contained little flat with a kitchen & separate bedroom, there is so much room! The location is brilliant, you can walk into central London from here about 20 minutes, Baker Street tube is about 7 minute walk, it is on plenty of bus routes, it is in a gorgeous residential area off the High street of Marylebone, which is a lovely area to stay in, plenty of bars & restaurants from the corner opposite, quiet at night. The staff here are wonderful & the owner Hal treats you like a member of his family. The breakfast is superb, lots of choice of pretty much everything & a full cooked breakfast. The room is very clean, I suppose by some peoples standards one might say it is “tired” in the Deco & doesn’t have a huge endless list of facilities, but it is not a sprawling modernistic hotel, in my experience a more personal stay beats that any day! We absolutely love it for its charm, location & staff. We will most definitely be going back, it is now our “go to” hotel in London without hesitation, I could not recommend it highly enough.

A friend and I booked two rooms at this hotel for a long weekend in London. The hotel is a short walk from Baker Street tube station and is situated in a quiet and pleasant road. We were welcomed in a friendly and helpful way, it had been arranged that our rooms were on the same floor which was thoughful and made things easier for us. ||My room was an Executive Single room, it was a decent size and had a comfortable double bed with lovely fresh bedding and plenty of pillows. The room was well furnished in a traditional style and included a TV, fridge, safe and tea and coffee making facilities. The window looked out at the back of the hotel. The bathroom was clean and modern, toiletries were supplied. ||My friend's room was a Junior Suite, it was a very large pleasant room with two windows that faced the street, it had the same facilities as mine. As well as a double bed there was also a single, the bathroom was large and modern. ||The hotel was quiet at all times which really helped with a good night's sleep. Breakfast was fantastic, lots of choice plenty of it, well cooked and served at the table by friendly staff. ||We booked an open top bus tour through the hotel, they made it all so easy. I happened to mention that it was my friend's birthday the next day and when she returned to her room on the day she found that the hotel had left her a very large box of chocolates and a card for her birthday. She was so touched by this lovely gesture. ||I'm so glad that we chose this hotel, the comfort and service made our stay so special. Many thanks to the hoteliers and staff, I definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who is looking for somewhere to stay in London.

We stayed 2 nights and overall the experience was good. Having breakfast included is a nice bonus in London. + Location ..near park and Baker tube station + Quiet and elegante Street + Breakfast ...generous portions, lots of options + Service ...polite stuff, friendly + Good shower and water pressure - room size ...for a junior suite it was a tad small - mattress was saggy - very hot in room (central boiler was turned off so second night was much better) - internet was very slow

We received a warm welcome by Geoff. A beautiful Regency Building a short taxi drive from Euston Station. The hotel has a lift. Our room was large, clean and comfortable with wardrobes, safe and fridge, flat screen tv, tea/ coffee making facilities, air conditioning and central heating, double glazing and thick curtains. Nottingham street is a quiet street, a queen size bed, shower over bath, toiletries. Breakfast was included in the price , with a good choice of freshly cooked food served by a very happy and friendly team. There is a small bar and reception is manned 24hours. |Marylebone is a lovely area with a great choice of restaurants, cafes and shops. Baker Street tube station is about 10 minute walk away and there are plenty of bus routes on Marylebone Road. We would not hesitate to return to Hotel La Place. It was our 50th Wedding anniversary and there was a gift and card from the hotel management.

I think my experience was skewed by the fact I was a solo traveler and placed in what seemed to be a solo room. I observed the other rooms being cleaned and thought to myself, "Is this the same hotel?" The double rooms seemed very nice. My room was very small and seemed like a college dorm room compared to the double rooms. Bathroom fixtures need replacing (e.g. rusting) and the water pressure in the shower was poor. The bathtub/shower would never work for someone with mobility issues as it had a high entry point and the floors are very smooth so be careful getting out. The glass panes around the bathtub need to be re-caulked to make them look fresh. Overall decor could be updated as the lobby and rooms have a distinct eighties/nineties feel. Location is "somewhat" close to the Baker Street station. Still requires a 10 minute walk or so to get there. Always felt safe in the neighbourhood. Breakfast was very nice each morning and the staff at the hotel are friendly and accommodating. Reasonable prices for in-house beer and water. For a short stay (like mine ... only two days), it's fine. I can't recommend a longer stay as a solo traveler unless some of the room features are enhanced or you get a double room.

Yelp
Great location. But for the price they really need to step up their game. We chose the place because we used to live nearby. The building is old and worn, but that is not unexpected for the neighborhood. What really sets this place back is the customer service. Several times I emailed with a request for travel information from the airport. They never responded. We requested an early check-in for noon due to a 2pm meeting. When we arrived, we were told an early check-in was "impossible", even though our request was confirmed through booking.com. The manager scrambled to get our room ready for us to make our meeting. A couple of irritating situations occurred: One, every time we had breakfast something was off, such as the eggs were cooked wrong or an item was missing. Also, one morning we waited about ten minutes to ask a question of the front desk manager while he argued with someone over the phone. Among the things we noticed: we found an earring backing (not ours) on the carpeting on our last day, indicating out carpet had never been vacuumed; our tub was never cleaned; our wine glasses were not cleared from our room; there were stains on the furniture and the air conditioner made this constant gurgling throughout the night. For $400 per night we expected better. There are plenty of cheaper places in the same neighborhood.
