We very much enjoyed our stay, and I must say the staff is very friendly and helpful. |For instance, I asked at the desk for ice and the lady went out of her way to find a bag for me free of charge. Only minor exceptions. They give you a gift card at check in that reads for 'One free cocktail' but the lady that runs the bar refused it and told my wife that is for 'the juice that goes in the cocktail, not for the cocktail'. The next day I asked the bar lady for a bottle of water so I could make ice. (The desalinated tap water is ok to drink but not the best). She gave me the more expensive brand bottle and charged me $10. The bar is owned by her, not the hotel. She was an unpleasant person. But the other bartender employee and restaurant staff were very nice. It would be a much better experience if they would just get rid of that bar owner/manager. Great location. Orient Beach currently was full of Sargassum weed but a short drive to other beaches which had none. We found renting a car was best and the cost is less than the taxi ride from SXM so it pays for itself in that sense and you can explore every place..

This place was perfect.. rooms were clean! And beautiful.. They did the room everyday if you let them.. The grounds are lovely, the breakfast was way more than we expected.. If you don't mind walking you don't need a car.. we rented one from a rental guy right there in the reception room for a few days... so much to see on the island.. We will definitely go back for a longer time next time.. If you're not a seasoned traveler, be aware they have European power.. you need an adapter for us electric..

We very much enjoyed our stay at La Plantation. Our unit was clean and comfortable with spectacular views. The staff were friendly and helpful, the property well kept. Beautiful Orient Beach, as well as the village stores and restaurants are walking distance, but would be a bit of a hike for some, however, a short car ride for them. We enjoyed the morning breakfast each day. We have stayed here before, not been back to SXM since Hurricane Irma in 2017. We are happy to say the Island is great as always, La Plantation has never disappointed, we would gladly visit again.

We are return visitors to La Plantation. We love the spacious jr suite with ocean view. The property is low rise and spread over several acres.|We walk to the beach, to breakfast and to the Village.|We do not find we need a car. You can ferry to St Barthes, take a catamaran snorkeling trip, or shop in Fredrickberg.|Wonderful property!

My boyfriend and I spent one night here November 17 2024 to celebrate his birthday before we went to an all inclusive for a friend’s wedding. We have been to Sint Maarten 6 times but had never been to the French side so we wanted to explore the beaches and cuisine to try something new. La Plantation location and amenities were what we booked for due to its close proximity to Orient Beach. This stay was one of the worst experiences in all of my travels to the Caribbean. I want to preface this review by saying this booking was a splurge for us as we normally stay at more budget friendly hotels/air bnb/resorts and we are not unrealistic people. ||The check in went as expected. Pool side restaurant/bar was closed and was only open at breakfast the following day so we were unable to have any drinks while using the pool. ||We went out for dinner and upon returning back to the room there was no power in the entire resort - which meant no lights, no air conditioning, no fans, no tv, no internet, no operating phone to call. I showered with the help of my cellphone lighting which was almost dead. Quickly the room turned into a hotbox and it was the most uncomfortable sleep (or lack of sleep) I have had. Some people in our bungalow I saw brought out their sheets and slept on the outdoor loungers which I would have been some refuge from the muggy hot room. As I lay in bed post shower with the light from my cellphone dimly lighting the room I see one of the biggest cockroaches in my life on the curtain inside the unit. My boyfriend ended up stomping on it as I freaked out. I just wanted to leave but nearing midnight it was impossible.||The fact I paid for this experience makes me upset as I was hoping for a nice relaxing night with my boyfriend and it turned sour with no empathy or partial compensation by the hotel. I was so upset I reached out to visa to dispute the charges and was told everything would have been disputable if I had left the hotel because of its shortcomings but at 12am where could I have gone? ||We left early that morning before check out time because the power still had not returned. I couldn't blow-dry my hair or style it with my tools and get ready. The main lobby had power though to ensure the computers could take your money still. The receptionist asked how we enjoyed our stay and I explained all the issues and she just responded with “we have power outages here, it is what it is” and how would you like to pay for the $6 drink charge on your account?||I understand some things are out of their control but other hotels on the island in lower price points have backup generators for these reasons. When booking your next vacation on this island be sure to ask about these things because not only is it a giant waste of money - it is the most uncomfortable sleep and experience you will pay for. Will never recommend and will never return to this establishment.

We come here every year which is lovely, a nice walk to Orient Beach. The breakfast is included which is a 20 Euro charge per person included. This year the breakfast is a disappointment. Scrambled eggs are not real eggs. We used to be able to boil our own egg. Not an option anymore. We used to have fresh fruit. Now it is out of a can or jar. Asking for cream for coffee or mustard is out of the question. Used to also have nuts at breakfast. They are obviously cutting corners. The hotel is well run. I wish that they could bring the breakfast back to what it was for years. We have another week

Lovely stay at this quiet & accommodating park-like setting, a short walk to the beach, restaurants & convenience stores. Our semi-villa was spacious & clean, with a comfortable bed, kitchenette & safe. Wifi was very good, water plentiful & hot, & AC strong. Our rate included a bountiful buffet breakfast & beach towels (exchange for fresh at will) as well as access to chairs at five beach clubs where one can also charge food & drink back to the room -- brilliant. And an on-site pool & restaurant, car rental & even a small library. Mind most units involve hills and stairs

The resort is friendly and clean and the breakfasts are reliably delicious. Fresh from the French bakery baguettes and pain au chocolat and croissants, as well as other yummy breads, fluffy scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, bacon, figs, never disappointing. The pool is crystal clear, the Tito martinis awesome and the villas have breathtaking views of the ocean, hummingbirds, butterflies and blooming shrubs. It was a 15 min hike down to the beach but not a problem. Only downside is the rough ocean. Lost my sunglasses in the surf. The village square is typically French styled, brightly lit at night with music. Restaurants are expensive so be ready with your euros. The food is well worth it. And there is also a live theatre!
