Absolutely Perfect Stay – Staff Made It Exceptional! I had an amazing experience at this hotel – everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The room was spotless, beautifully furnished, and incredibly comfortable. The amenities were top-notch, and the location was ideal. But what truly set this hotel apart was the staff. Every single person I interacted with was warm, professional, and genuinely eager to help. They went above and beyond to ensure my stay was flawless, making me feel welcome and valued at every moment. Their attention to detail and kindness truly made this visit unforgettable. I can’t recommend this place enough. If you’re looking for a seamless, luxurious, and heartwarming stay – this is the place.

Nice hotel with lovely interior courtyard perfectly situated in the center of the historic old town of Popoyan. Diego, at the front desk at check-in, was very very nice. ||Our room was large and comfortable, albeit a bit dated, and the bathroom was teeny tiny with no shelf space. Good hot shower. King bed (two twins pushed together) was comfy with nice pillows and sheets. No air con, but great ceiling fan. Room faced the street and was incredibly noisy. We needed to open the windows for air, but then couldn’t sleep with terrible street noise (and we live in NYC!). Ceiling fan really helped. ||Three stars is mostly due to somewhat indifferent staff attitude and the lack of basic amenities for a hotel that is presented as having a higher quality. We speak Spanish, so that was not an issue. For example, when we asked for body soap and shampoo dispensers to be refilled, we were told they didn’t have any more. We were here for three nights, and were told we only get one bottle of water per stay. Breakfast was spotty (one day cold eggs, one day hot) although the breakfast staff was very nice and doing their best. Three star hotel in five star location.

The rooms and the whole vibe of the hotel was amazing. The breakfast sucked, not worth it at all. There are a ton of restaurants all around that are cheaper and way better.

Attractive, centrally located hotel in a historic spanish style building with courtyard. Nice rooms and decor with spacious modern bathrooms and a good walk in shower. ||Friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was simple (eggs as usual). On site pasta/pizza restaurant for lunch or dinner. I can highly recommend the pizza - so much topping.||What let it down for me was the lack of air conditioning; I found it hard to sleep as I was so hot and the very firm pillows.

An historic building, with plenty of atmosphere, but not run professionally as a hotel. Reception is pretty basic and the "restaurant" is actually a cafe that serves a standard, not very inspiring breakfast||Our room faced the street - I did not consider that it was too noisy. But was basic/minimalist in style||The town of Popayan is an attractive "white town", but had little to hold our attention - we stayed two nights, and one night would have been better. ||There is not much option in eating dinner. We tried the Camino Real restaurant, which claimed to offer fine dining, but were disappointed||There is not a great choice of hotels in Popayan, and because of its location and atmosphere, I would be happy to stay here again

Really nice colonial style hotel. Definitely recommended. Well maintained with modern amenities and conveniently located close to the plaza grande. Comfortable beds and good showers. We stayed there on our way to Cali and will be returning on the return leg of the trip. Friendly staff and off road parking for cars.

Lovely stay. Employees were helpful and courteous. The old world feeling was a nice change from our modern day lives. The restaurant served a nice breakfast and the grilled chicken for lunch was very good. But, if you like strong coffee, take the hot chocolate instead. It was delicious. The only thing that I could find that wasn't good was a very squeeky hinge on the on the bathroom door. The bathroom was a very large modern one with great water pressure. All in all, great hotel.

I stayed for two nights in La Plazuela in August. Popayan is crying out for a high quality boutique hotel. It simply doesn't have one as far as I could tell. The atmosphere is more of a student town with very few visitors. As a modest accommodation offering, La Plazuela is centrally located, with some vestiges of the colonial white washed architecture found around the city. It's a little old fashioned snd smells of furniture polish, which reminded me of long vanished hotels from my youth. There is a promising courtyard with high arches and greenery. ||||The rooms are clean and most have recently renovated bathrooms. Ask to see a few rooms. I had a very bright and tiny room at the back that overlooked an orange tree. This had to be changed as there was an ongoing burglar alarm honking from a neighbouring property. My new room opened up onto the interior courtyard and was very dark, with almost no natural light. Breakfast is a meagre offering by Colombian standards. I was hungry again by 10am! Overall a functional place for a few nights. An old fashioned ambience. There is potential for something better to arise from the basic bones.
