Hotel La Portilla

Fantastic location in a village and walking distance from the beach and 2 restaurants, excellent breakfast (with fresh fruit and OJ), good bed linens and pillows, lovely staff. Drawbacks: very small (135cm), hard, lumpy bed, tiny ground-floor room with not much air flow, right on road (room 110), no mirror in room, only in bathroom, no place to hang towels/clothes so they can dry…(not great when you’re near a beach!.) Don't get the cheapest room if you want some comfort. :(

We stayed here for 2 nights in July and very much enjoyed the views and location of this hotel. The view of the nearby beach from the breakfast and bar area was stunning. However our room was very small and lacked the additional comfort of air conditioning. The built in AC unit in the room was not working.

My husband and I stayed here one night on our way to Los Picos de Europa. For such a short stay, I'm fairly certain this is the best hotel in the area and we were not disappointed. It is situated in a beautiful area near the ocean with perfect access to walks along the bluffs or on the beach. ||The breakfast was delicious with homemade baked goods! Additionally, rooms were clean, bed was nice, Internet worked well--we were very comfortable here. Maybe it was the time of year, but I wouldn't have needed to spend more than a night here. Plus we were anxious to get to Los Picos, which turned out to be one of my favorite parts of our trip.

The La Portilla Guesthouse / B&B is at the northern edge of the little village of Niembro. It has 18 rooms on two floors and the focal point is the Lounge behind the entrance / reception area, where drinks and breakfast is served and offers a unobstructed view over the fields down to the ocean and the beach. The rooms are set in a functional sleek country style B&B, with 2 beds, large closet a desk and a 40” flatscreen TV. The bathroom has the standard sink, toilet and tub with the glass shower screen. The available wifi was during my stay too weak to reach the room on the upper floor and only usable in the Lounge at a low speed.||The cold Breakfast was very nice and well presented also during busy times.

This small hotel lies a field away from a gorgeous beach,with outdoor cafe and field car park. The limited access for cars means its a busy lane on hot days in August. The beach absorbs them without getting too crowded. .The cafe have entertainment on odd Friday nights, good band until 2.00am when we went ,all English-sung .||Hotel staff are extremely nice and helpful,breakfast the usual mix, good coffee and outstanding view from the room.Rooms cleaned well, our A/Conditioning not that effective so left the windows wide and no mosquitoes etc. There are three restaurants in the village and a great locals bar.. Good touring centre for a fabulous part of Spain, mountain drives, quiet beaches. Popular with the spanish but not many other tourists .

A small modern hotel over looking the beach of Taranda on Spain's north coast west of Santander.||What an idyllic location which must be unique both for Spain or even on the coast of Cornwall, no other visible developments except a view of the sea and beautiful countryside.||Good breakfast, clean modern rooms with big showers, plenty of local restaurants within a short drive. 10 minute walk to the beach or a 20 minute walk to one of the greatest beaches on this coast Torimba clothes optional , few people about in September and a good hotel to explore the beautiful Picos de Europe.

La Portilla Hotel is a great option: it's simple but very effective! It's only 200m to the beach, well located in Asturias (1h long to Santander, Picos de Europa, Cuevas del Castillo, Oviedo and 20min far from Covadonga & other nice beaches), offers good breakfast/cleaning services and a friendly atmosphere overall. Above all, it's relatively cheap... What else?

This little hotel had it all: very kind receptionist, clean bedroom, lovely and quiet neighbourhood and last but not least: an amazing view while having a nice breakfast.||||Would recommend it to anyone who's looking for relaxing day with some nice walks in a lovely setting.
