Hotel La Posada

The rooms where very moldy, I could not even sleep, my nose was burning so bad from the smell of mildew in the walls. The shower did not drain well, had to take a shower standing in water ankle deep. Plus the water never got hot, it was lukewarm. The people were awesome, and the restaurant and food was incredible. The location is terrible too, the windows to all the rooms face a major street, so the traffic was heard all night long

I had a very good experience at the La Posada. The room was spacious and comfortable. There is a nice outside area that lends a good atmosphere. I had breakfast and was pleased with the variety of the menu. Coffee was available early. Our shower worked fine. Beer was very reasonably priced. I accidentally left my Kindle in the room and the staff chased me down to return it. A positive stay and I would recommend it.

Lovely place in a good location. Rooms were large, clean, and nicely decorated. Two friendly orange and white cats kept us company in the evening. The staff was wonderful, particularly the lady checking us in. She made a couple of suggestions of what to see with limited time. Wifi worked only in and near the lobby. It is located off a busy street, and the noise carried both from that, and staff chatting in the passageway. Breakfast was adequate, but nothing special. Under renovation, it should be incredible when completed. Definitely would stay here again.

We only spent one night here and enjoyed it. It was in a good location, walking distance to the park which was very lively and lots of food vendors. The rooms were nice, just a bit muggy. You could smell the humidity in the room. The room window was also facing a pretty busy street so you hear cars all day and night, so it didn't make for a great sleep. The restaurant was really nice and the food was excellent!

The hotel property itself is beautiful but run down. The restaurant is very good and their breakfast is excellent. However, wifi only in the lobby. The room was musty, smelly sheets and not very good lighting and very loud because its right in between two busy streets. However, I was relieved to see the bathroom was in great condition and the hot shower was terrific.

I did not stay in the hotel so I can’t give my opinion about that. I did go to dinner at the restaurant expecting a fine dining experience. The place is very nice but the restaurant service is terrible. They even charged me for a coffee refill, which was very unexpected. The stake I had was only average. I had to ask the server for a stake knife and after he delivered the knife, he did not come back to the table to ask if the food was ok. Overall, very disappointing experience. I have yet to find a descent dining experience in Coban, unfortunately. It seems to me that no one really knows how to run a decent restaurant in this town.

We spent two nights in Coban at Hotel La Posada while exploring the area. The hotel is older and in the middle of a massive room renovation, so only a few rooms were occupied. The hotel is right in the heart of the city, so that makes for noisy conditions. Ear plugs help...we were prepared. Typical of many older hotels, the sound dampening is poor and the lighting is very dim (seems to be a ubiquitous problem). The water pressure was good and the water temperature hot. I could get wifi right outside the room door...but not in the room. The restaurant was good. The breakfast menu was very good, if a little pricey for the quality of the hotel and location. Same for the dinner menu. All-in-all, a reasonable place to stay for a day or two in Coban.

In a beautiful building with charming furniture and decorations, this posada is in the heart of Coban (pro and con) but the value for money is great. Dinner and breakfast were both very good. My room was clean, large and the staff friendly, whilst I did not particularly liked Coban, my stay was very good.
