Loved everything about this place! The location was great, the views were amazing, the rooms were comfortable, and the breakfast was especially delicious. The staff here were absolutely lovely and incredibly accommodating - from our late arrival and very early morning departure to daily housekeeping to creating our morning breakfast tray, we felt very well cared for. One of my favorite places I have stayed, ever!

I really wanted to like this hotel, and I actually booked it after looking through several reviews. However, I must say that my experience was very sub par. The staff is great - they are very nice and accommodating. The room, however, is not. there is no view, the floors are slanted, and shower head was broken. There is 0 sound barrier between the room and the outside area, so it’s very very loud through the whole night. Super unfortunate because it made it difficult to sleep. Furthermore, there was no adapters that the front desk could lend us to charge our phones. For the price I paid, I just expected more. I would not recommend staying here.

Hotel La Résidence du Vieux-Port is a true gem!|This arty hotel is full of stylish design details—from the artwork and furniture to the unique rooms. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.|During your stay, you'll be mesmerized by the fantastic view of the Old Port. There are also plenty of cafés and eateries just outside the hotel, and the Panier district is only a few blocks away.|I highly recommend this hotel—the value for money is excellent!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Marseille’s Old Port, this cozy and rustic hotel is a true gem. The lobby, adorned with striking art deco windows and furnished with retro 1970s sofas and chairs, exudes a warm and relaxing ambiance, offering a serene escape from the bustling surroundings. Our room was surprisingly spacious, blending simple modernist and art deco touches with vibrant Mondrian-esque hues, complemented by a stunning, unbeatable balcony view. The prime location and charming atmosphere made our stay very comfortable indeed.

Genuinely one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. It is completely run down and old. The mattress in the room requires urgent replacement, it was sunken in the middle and you could feel the springs. Despite being advised we had a king bed, it was actually a queen which was further disappointing. To top it off, the bathroom flooded whilst there because the shower had no shower screen or curtain which is extremely dangerous.

A perfect place to stay. The room was comfortable with a lovely patio overlooking the vieux port. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. The restaurant associated with the hotel offered a wonderful menu. We stayed here prior to going on a cruise.

The hotel feels tired and dated, and the decor is confusing—almost as if several design ideas were tested but none fully committed to. The rooms are quite small, and our balcony door didn’t close properly, which made soundproofing virtually nonexistent. This became especially problematic at night with all the street noise and a nearby festival that went late. Service at the front desk was underwhelming. Most staff seemed bothered by basic questions, with the exception of one older gentleman at checkout who was courteous and helpful. The one standout is the location—right on the Vieux-Port, within walking distance of excellent dining and the charming Le Panier district. Unfortunately, that alone doesn’t make up for the other shortcomings. All in all it was a disappointing Stay – Only the location delivered

Hotel is in a great location overlooking the port. It is also literally next door to the train stop which made this very convenient for us! We just stayed the night en route to Nice, but it was a good choice for convenience. Hotel was friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I had seen the pictures of the well COLORFUL decor online and while it was off putting we decided to give it a try based on the great location, budget and only a 2 night stay. Well the color scheme gave me vibes of the movie the Shining and the room had an odor of cigarettes. Thankfully we had a wonderful balcony view of the harbor and could leave the door open to air it out some. It's dated and needs to be overhauled. The bathroom has no shower just a tub with a handheld shower attachment. It was fine for a short stay but I wouldn't do it again.

Yelp
Charming and quaint hotel with a great location of the port. Walking distance to everything in Marseille. Room was spacious and colorful that came with a free straw hat. Lighting in the room could have been better. Our room was right next to the restaurant which we were nervous. However we couldn't hear anything but we did smell breakfast in the mornings. Staff are all very welcoming and majority can speak English. The bathroom is on the odd side where it's the toilet, sink and the shower. The shower has no curtain or glass, so when you shower everything gets wet.

Yelp
Great location on the historical Bay. All these photos were taken from room 104 which has a balcony to enjoy the view. Front desk staff were super friendly and helpful. Rooms were all cleaned and had hardwood floors. Bathroom wall tile is retro 60's which fits with the hotel decode. First hotel I have ever stayed in that was one floor up and never heard any road noise. Would stay there again.

Yelp
To start, I never normally write reviews unless a place deserves one. And Hôtel la Résidence certainly deserves one and not in a POSTIVE way. Granted the view is commendable is a beautiful scenery of the old port. However, cleanliness and service is key to being a an actual 4 star hotel. When you arrive to this hotel. There is two workers, no bellman. No CLEANERS, no valet, and not only two workers in the hotel excluding the restaurant. It took over 20 minutes after are arrival time, to prepare our room. and when we got in there it was FILTHILY. The carpet had white specks on it. And was very clearly uncleaned. The shower had a very odd pink stain on the floor. And the counter tops felt sticky, and the floor was even worse. The maids clearly did not properly clean the room. And my mother shortly after staying in the room for no less then an hour contracted bug bites on her ankle. Disgusted yet? I was and shocked, and the workers are completely careless to accommodating to their customers needs. Hotel de Residence, is disgusting. And marseille is a ghetto part of France. With a very high crime rate, it's let alone rated the most dangerous city in France. Skip this hotel, and skip staying in marseille overall as a hotel. Furthermore and a quick trip that will be more then disappointing to visit. Go save your time and money , and definitely do not book a stay here.

Yelp
Terrific, charming small hotel overlooking the port. My room overlooking the port was well decorated and equipped. The staff were wonderful. The attached restaurant is amazing and I recommend that you make reservations when you check in. I was there for business but the are much prettier places to visit nearby.

Yelp
We lived in a room with the perfect view of the harbor....and it was magical! The room was petite...but tidy, with a cool interior and it didn't feel cramped. One whole wall...of four... was a window. We loved our stay here!

Yelp
I wish I could give this hotel more stars but its price/quality rapport prevents me from doing so. Yes, the modernist design is very impressive, the service friendly and accommodating (I arrived 1hr before check-in and was given an upgrade to a larger room since my room hadn't been cleaned yet) but there were certain details that irked me. For one, the Wifi wasn't working and I had to go down to get an ethernet cable to hook into their internet, and then the service that they use (one of those outside providers that you need to log into) required a half dozen tries before it worked. I was also surprised by the limited bath products. Theres's one shower gel dispenser that's supposed to do everything, but I'm sorry how can a body wash be a shampoo and a conditioner? Plus there was no bathrobe and the shower sprayed all over the room. Call me a stickler but this place considers itself to be a high-end address, recently earning four stars. But as always, it's all in the details, and there are still a lot of details that could use improvement.

Yelp
Great hotel in a fantastic location right on Marseille harbour. Room was comfortable and clean, staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was lovely. Room overlooking the harbour was great, lots of hustle and bustle, but strangely relaxing and slept well.

Yelp
I did not stay in this hotel, but I was able to visit one of the rooms. The bed seemed a lot more comfortable than my hotel bed. The shower was also a lot bigger. I think I might try staying here during my next visit.

Yelp
Lovely view. Nice room. Friendly staff at check-in. Not so much later. Constant problems with Wifi. Our flight home was cancelled. Had to do all rebooking by phone, wasted better part of last day here. They kept claiming it must be my device except that we had 7 devices between two couples. Later learned they had to reboot entire system. They would make zero adjustments or accommodations for the inconvenience. Will not stay here again.
