My favorite hotel in Mazatlan. It is very basic, but is in the best location. Make sure you get an ocean view room

I sprained my ankle on way back from Observatory. Juan brought up a bag of ice to the room. Excellent service.

Very friendly. In the old town and on the waterfront. I was the only one using the pool (in winter), but hey, I'm Canadian!!! The rooms are rather dated (no coffee maker or fridge) and the coffee/breakie shop doesn't open until 8:00am (closes Mondays).||I rented a bike (from a neighbour of a snowbird friend) and storing it at the hotel was no problem. Biking opened up the city for me and made the stay so enjoyable.

It's a great 2 star hotel. My room is always clean. Good WiFi except for the pool area. No kitchenette but I can always wait until 8:00am for the restaurant to open for my morning coffee, or walk 80 metres to Loony Beans (a must on Monday's). My room has A/C but I couldn't figure out how the controls worked (I would turn it off and 15 minutes later it would turn itself on!). It didn't stop me sleeping though. The restaurant is nice but meal selection is limited (mainly burger type in the evening), but the omelette in the morning is superb. The restaurant is closed Monday's. The staff are wonderful. the concierge is superb, always has a smile and a welcoming greeting. The atrium is open and there is always an evening chorus from the birds that live in the trees that grow within the atrium. A band plays western music Friday's and Saturday's (7:00pm to 10:00pm). They don't mind me locking my bike in the atrium when I'm not out and about on it.||The pool was cold but that didn't stop me from a refresher dip every day. Even though it's January, the temp was in the high 20c's, so the pool was very welcoming (though I think I was the only person using it).||There are numerous restaurants and cafes in walking distance and there is a lively arts scene (bands, operas, art shows, etc).

One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had.

This hotel has been part of my life for 30 years. When I lived in Mazatlán, it was where we would house guests visiting us because it was so close to our apartment and it was cleaner than the Belmar (and the Freeman was still vacant back then). Now it's my preferred lodging when I'm back in town visiting. The old neighbor has changed a lot, but La Siesta is still as welcoming as it was all those years ago.

Stayed here for 5 days with my husband and 4 kids. Great service, room was clean when we arrived. They cleaned our room everyday which was good and needed since we have kids. Martin was a great help during our stay there. They gave us towels when needed no extra charge. This was good since we went to the beach and pool. Only bad thing was no parking lot. Parking is a block down and up which you have to pay. They do have someone there all day and cameras. The parking lot customer service was great though very nice people. Willing to stay here again since they have rates and service. Thank you very much for your service.

Cool vibes in the lobby area with the bar and everything but the room was nasty. Just really old and dirty. The mattress was filthy, stains on everything. Ended up switching Hotels and not staying there at all based on the lack of cleanliness in the room.

Yelp
I've stayed there many times, beach front property with an amazing staff. As far as location, couldn't get any better. Booking another stay right now

Yelp
Hotel La Siesta is an older hotel in Olas Altas. It is directly across the street from the public beach, right near the ocean swimming pool, and conveniently located (walking) to Plazuela Machado and numerous restaurants and bars. The famous Shrimp Bucket is downstairs on the corner. I stayed at this hotel on NYE for its location. I walked to the Plazuela for a fancy, overpriced holiday dinner and then returned to the street in front of the hotel where the city hosted a celebration- complete with bands and fireworks. The stage was literally right in front of the restaurant and the Malecon was lined with plastic tables and chairs brought in just for the event. The location was perfect. I had a courtyard room (without a balcony) and it was small, sparse and musty. The bed was at least two levels harder than extra firm. What do you call that? Concrete? (Seriously the hardest bed I've ever slept on!) The music continued on until 3 in the morning, I think. If you go for the party, be prepared to enjoy it!

Yelp
I stayed here for two nights earlier this month. Overall this is a decent place. The Wi-Fi seem to work really well as did the air conditioning. We had a balcony with an ocean view which was really nice. What I didn't like was there is a lot of traffic noise and also when we stayed there there was construction noise as they were renovating the lobby and the workmen were working until almost 10 PM and it was very loud. If you stay there you may want to see if they are still renovating before you book a room. It is in a very good location and there are some great restaurants and coffee shops that are nearby that you can walk to you. Also Uber works really well from this hotel to other parts of Mazatlan

Yelp
This is the second time I have stayed here. Both experiences were similar. The hotel sits right across from the malecon in the Historico Centro. It is a budget hotel with a high-end location. Our room was ~$1,400 pesos for two nights ($70 US). If you pay about $100 pesos more you can get an ocean view room with a balcony. I have not stayed in one of the ocean view rooms. I was concerned about street noise, but we noticed coming back to our room about midnight that there did not seem to be much traffic noise. Next time I'll try the ocean view room. The hotel itself is very charming and has a farmacia and a Kiosko (convenience store) attached. It also has a restaurant (The Shrimp Bucket) that appears to only be open for breakfast and lunch. There is secure parking available two blocks away for $150 pesos per night. There is a central courtyard that has comfy chairs placed during the day and magnificent trees growing up out of the smallest planter boxes. Beautiful. The rooms are average. The beds are standard Mexican - harder than usual. The pillows this time were awful. Very lumpy like they have been washed too many times. If you are staying for a week or more, consider running to Walmart and spending $200 pesos on a couple of new pillows. The shower did not have hot water one evening when we showered before going out. Other than that, the rooms are fine. A/C blows cold, everything is clean, seemed very safe. You are a short walk from the Plaza Machado, the cathedral, the Mercado Pino Suarez and some of the best restaurants in Mazatlán. Read my restaurant reviews to get some good advice. Thanks.
