La Torre del Visco, near Valderrobres, Spain - Explore & Book

"La Matarranya? Even Spaniards might be hard pressed to pinpoint this little-known corner of Aragón or tell you much about it. Think wild Provence: hilltop villages, almond groves, forested hills amidst limestone peaks, vineyards and olive groves. Add a dash of the remoter parts of Tuscany, with a food culture to match, and you’re getting close to the essence of this place.La Torre del Visco’s estate embraces a 220-acre slice of one of the region’s most beautiful river valleys. Surrounded by meadows and orchards, rose, herb and vegetable gardens, the 16 understated rooms and suites combine original art, antiques, old stones and muted fabrics in a master class of interior pizzazz. Fit for a king? Sure, he’s stayed here, and when I slumped into a sofa next to a blazing fire it was to share conversation with four of Spain’s best-known actors. Remote, remarkable and revitalising, La Torre del Visco is about hospitality at its very best. Highs Award-winning cuisine with a a daily changing menu and an open-kitchen philosophy: you can learn what’s behind the divine food. Beautifully remote and peaceful with fabulous hiking, biking and horse riding all aroundA lovely pool for lazy daysI liked owner Jemma's warmth and enthusiasm, and a high staff-to-guest ratio ensures you’re brilliantly cared forPerfect for a special occasion Lows Winters can be very cold, but crisp and sunny too, and you won’t find a more snug hideaway No TVs or minibars although there's an open cellar for guests to serve themselves at any time if restaurant service isn't available No other restaurants within walking distance, but you'll want to eat in every night anywayOnly children over 6 are allowed, it feels more of an adult placeYou’ll need a car to get the best out of a stay here" - Guy Hunter Watts

La Torre del Visco (Teruel, Aragón) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Set in the countryside outside the medieval town of Valderrobres, widely considered to be one of Spain’s prettiest villages, the remote Torre del Visco is the only hotel around for miles. The journey is more than worth it, thanks to the efforts of the owners, a madrileño couple who left their publishing jobs three decades ago to restore this semi-ruined 15th-century castle." - Tablet Hotels

We first visited from Canada in 2022 for a four night stay and it was so perfect, I was honestly nervous to return. I was worried it couldn’t live up to our memories. But our three-night stay this September was just as magical. It felt like coming home—if home meant sleeping in a 15th century tower, with the windows wide open to breezes scented with the wild herbs of the Spanish countryside. I have never stayed anywhere so deeply restorative, a feeling that comes from the lingering meals made with ingredients from their own gardens, the profound silence of the countryside, and the authenticity of every detail—from the olive oil pressed on-site to the traditional stone architecture. You will likely find a special camaraderie with the small number of other guests, as everyone has sought out this specific slice of heaven. If you are lucky enough to meet the owner, Jemma, you will understand the source of the hotel's vision and warmth. We are already planning our return from Canada. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Favorite place in Spain. Perfect to disconnect and tap into nature. We enjoyed the food and playing chess. Service was great. Loved the breeze at night sleeping with the windows open, and all their shower products.

One of my favourite places in the world. The courtyards are beautiful and peaceful places to relax. The staff mill around taking care of you and the environment; it's like they're a mini-community that make money for the community by having guests, rather than your normal process driven and mechanistic hotel. Being able to go and grab a drink from the cellar, just leaving a note of what you took, is another example of that. Fruits, vegetables and herbs are grown on-site, with meat and wines etc coming from very local sources. The rooms are modest, but you really shouldn't be coming here to spend time in your room. I'm typing this from a courtyard next to a fountain and I am writing this because I want other people to experience it. Our dinner last night was incredible, others have mentioned it, so I won't repeat, but wow. Extra thanks to Lucas for taking care of our stay so thoughtfully, but the whole team were kind and helpful beyond our expectations. Thank you, all. Yes there is a track to the hotel for 7km, but a couple of the other guests had a Ferrari and Porsche and they were wondering why some people had complained in the reviews! It's a bit stoney and bumpy, but it is secluded and the track adds to that. Please don't let it put you off. This place is special.

I love this place, but especially the food. I think it's partly because so much of the produce is home grown. 'From farm to plate' is walkable in this case, and you can tell. Ingredients - including meat and fish - are of the highest quality, but prepared with real skill, presented with care, and served with the right balance of attentiveness and knowledge. The wine recommendations are spot on too. All for a very reasonable price (to be honest I'm not sure how they keep their prices where they are). And you have to know about the Torre breakfast. Apparently it's famous among regulars. You can sit on the terrace or inside the welcoming farm style kitchen, choose healthy (yoghurt, fruit, toast, home made preserves, fresh orange juice) or not so healthy (amazing bacon, eggs however you want them, bizcocho), or if you're properly greedy like me, both. And they have proper English tea with decent milk. Amazing amazing amazing...

The remote location is stunning, the staff are attentive and very friendly, and the food is delicious! The surrounding area is great to explore and the breakfast is among the best I've ever had

Stayed in this idyllic hotel in Arrangon. What un unexpected paradise in the middle of nowhere. The rooms are nice but basic equipped. No fridge or TV, but when in relexing mode, who cares. The staff and owners were helpful and friendly, the dinners were made with organic products. The last 10 km to the hotel are an off road experience through the hills by an unpaved dirt road. Follow the driving instructions from the hotel and don't trust your GPS ! What we missed in both dinners were some garnishes, Portions were small and therefore slightly overpriced. Quality above average. The surroundings are stunning. Had some nice walks in the hills. Payed for two overnight stays and dinners in low season about €800,- laTorre Del Visco highly recommanded !

Our stay at La Torre del Visco was an extraordinary experience that exceeded all expectations. This rural retreat offers a perfect blend of luxury, exceptional cuisine, and breathtaking natural beauty.||The hospitality at La Torre del Visco was truly outstanding, with Markus leading the way in ensuring our stay was nothing short of perfect. His attentiveness and genuine care set the tone for our entire visit, making us feel completely at home.||The culinary offerings were a highlight of our stay. What impressed us most was the use of fresh, local ingredients, many of which were grown in the hotel's own garden. |Our first night's dinner at the chef's table in the kitchen was unforgettable. Discussing each meticulously prepared dish with the chef provided fascinating insights and was undoubtedly one of the best moments of our week in Spain.||Our junior suite was spacious and comfortable, featuring a separate sitting room with a couch in addition to the bedroom and bathroom. This extra space added to the feeling of luxury and relaxation.||The hotel's commitment to showcasing the best of the region extended beyond its walls. They organized an exceptional wine tasting experience for us, arranging transportation to a local winery 45 minutes away. The winery tour was outstanding, adding another layer to our appreciation of the area's rich culinary traditions.||The surrounding landscape is simply stunning, with beautiful mountain views in every direction. We took advantage of this natural beauty by embarking on a 30-45 minute hike to an immense, breathtaking dried waterfall - an experience we highly recommend to fellow travelers.||La Torre del Visco truly embodies the concept of a 'home away from home', but elevated to new heights of luxury and gastronomy. Whether you're seeking relaxation, culinary adventures, or exploration of the beautiful Spanish countryside, this hotel offers it all. Our stay here was the undisputed highlight of our trip to Spain, and we're already dreaming of our return visit.
