La Vague de Saint Paul (Saint Paul de Vence, French Riviera / Provence) 4 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Here’s a quick précis for non-Francophiles: Saint-Paul-de-Vence, roughly ten miles west of Nice, is one of the oldest medieval towns on the French Riviera, and a long-time haven for artists, Rolling Stones, and everything in between. Marc Chagall used to live here, as did the likes of Bill Wyman and Roger Moore. Today, art-minded travelers usually come to visit the Fondation Maeght museum. But lovely Saint-Paul is really a destination in its own right, within easy day-trip distance of Cannes and Monaco, and the newly opened La Vague, a quick trip outside of town, is the hot new place to stay if you’re here." - Tablet Hotels

The wife made this reservation, and had some concerns about some of the reviews. Gotta tell you people are crazy. One was you have to have a car - duh. Nothing wrong with this place. One nut said there were ants (outside-ha). Really nice, peaceful, great pool, nice meals, friendly staff, great rooms, nice sauna & steamroom. I think I can clear up the confusion. It's listed as a 4 star, and as nice as it is, expectations might just be a bit higher with a rating of 4. If they could lower to a 3, this would be on the high side of a 3 star. Just another tip, if you want the best meals around just head over to Valbonne. Best little town in all of south of France. Meals in St Paul de Vence really good too.

There is no way this is a four star hotel. Hotel is tired and lots of things are dirty or damaged. The pool looks dirty, the chairs around the pool have rips in them, my hairdryer was broken, the jacuzzi was broken, the shower temperature gauge was so stiff I could barely move it. There is never any staff in the restaurants or bars, at breakfast there was one girl trying to do everything, and then when I spoke to her, she told me that she was an 18 year old intern from Austria. The girl that brought my room service was also an intern. It seems there are no career staff and you feel that. |The room was pretty clean but it was very noisy around at 1:30am and I couldn’t sleep for hearing other guests. It is definitely not a four star hotel and is very expensive for what you get. The food is also very expensive, I wouldn’t mind if I was in a nice environment but I didn’t feel like using the pool area as it wasn’t appealing so spent most of my time in my room. The spa is not fit for purpose. The QR codes in the room for the menu don’t work either.

So many problems with the room (including a large puddle of water that the hotel did not address for a whole day) that the hotel was slow to address. Food and drink options are extremely limited and even getting access to drinking water is challenging. For what the hotel aspires to be, it needs quite a few changes. Seek other options in the area.

We have visited this property several times before, and the team never disappoints. New stuff appears all the time and every time we are back we experience new features, new art, improve at in the restaurant, and many more exciting things. The scene is truly awesome - in the forest in the mountains, still within walking distance to St.Paul. Plenty of parking. Great wifi. Well kept rooms. The restaurant is fantastic, and offers an open window into the kitchen, which is kept very neatly. The restaurant offers a delicious dinner menu, and also offers nice lunch menu. Lunch can also be served at the pool. The pool is nice, quiet and well-kept. |But on top of all this resides the team at La Vague. From the pool boy and house-keeping team to the reception, the bar, the restaurant, and all the way to the management, they all smile and offer a fantastic service. They make the hotel feel like home and offer an informal, yet professional and stylish service that make the stay at La Vague absolutely perfect. It is an honor to stay at La Vague.

Have arrived to St Paul coming from Italy and on our way home. We new about the size of the room, the services and that is all according to the information on the Website. However, to be a Hotel and Spa, the services are quite limited. To start, we reserved for two nights and two persons and received a little bottle of water as a courtesy. There were more water in the minibar but with a price list. In the restaurant the service was chaotic and slow. We ordered the wine and, only after asking for it three times, we got the wrong bottle. ||There is a Spa that is not fully working. You can't find a shower cap anywhere and of course, there was none at the room. The towels offered in the room were quite used and not longer absorbing. Little details that show lack of generosity, lack of comfort.

A lovely environment with exciting modern decor.||The food has a Japanese oriental flavour and is truly interesting and beautifully presented.||Enormous portions at a fair price.||Enjoy the bbq beef and tuna.||Great service from Stephanie and her colleague. ||Fair wine prices.||A lovely evening.

Unfortunately I had very bad experience here. Firstly the location is super bad-middle of nowhere (I had to pay triple of the price for the taxi to drive me there) when I arrived at the hotel at 1am the receptionist was annoyed and seems very stressful that I arrived late. I came here to relax but instead I got super stress which I think is super unprofessional! The service is just very bad. After that I asked about the breakfast time but he didn’t even check and told me my breakfast is not included and if I want I need to pay 25€. I was very confuse because I booked a suite room and the room was very disappointed, the shower was very weak. In the morning I passed by the breakfast room and saw the selection was very poor I didn’t think it worth 25€, before knowing it was actually included. After I tried to go to the spa and Jacuzzi and I went in the room but i had to run out because the room was very smelly and I saw the Jacuzzi was very dirty the water was yellow… so I went to checkout at 10:30 because I was too stressful to stay there. When I went to checkout it was a different receptionist and she asked me how was my breakfast- so thats how I found out actually my breakfast was included and her colleague was wrong. So she told me to have breakfast but when I walked in they already throw all the food away and I told her you should serve me breakfast because I pay for it, she only offer me a coffee but obviously I was piss off and she said “I’m sorry Madame you’re too late for breakfast “ she makes me feel is my fault that I missed the breakfast. But it was her colleague who told me my breakfast was not included… but they didn’t do anything but offer me a leftover croissant? I really don’t recommend this place!

We only spent one night here but we will definitely return. It is tucked away in a beautiful spot in the woods behind St Paul de Vence and takes a few minutes to find. The receptionist came out of the front door to greet us, as though we were old friends. Having been travelling for 13 hours, we immediately retired to our pristine, stylish, cool and comfortable rooms. The bathrooms are immaculate and the beds huge. The gardens are so relaxing and the pool area very private. We ate dinner and breakfast and both were delicious. The staff were extremely polite and friendly, despite our pigeon French! Would recommend this oasis to anyone, child and wheelchair friendly - just amazing .
