La Zoologie (Bordeaux, Nouvelle Aquitaine) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Housed in the former Bordeaux Institute of Zoology, from which it takes its name, La Zoologie doubles down on its natural sciences beginnings with interiors inspired by biology, flora and fauna. The 40 guest rooms are split across three wings, named Geology, Zoology and Botanic, and blend a mix of Bordeaux stone and clay walls, original brickwork and half moon windows with natural, earthy shades and wallpapers depicting a mix of animals, verdant forests and maritime scenes. The wellness area offers massages with made in France products, a Jacuzzi, hammam, sauna, and an outdoor terrace shaded by leafy palms, although relaxation time comes at an extra charge for guests booking into a Classic room. Bistronomic restaurant La Zoologie serves a seasonal menu focused on market produce, a team of mixologists shake up the hotel’s signature cocktails in the bar, and in summer, the rooftop terrace opens with panoramic views of Bordeaux." - Tablet Hotels

We needed a hotel close to the train station for an early train to Paris. Couldn't have been happier with our choice. The hotel is funky and charming. Our room was brilliantly designed, and extremely comfortable. We enjoyed delicious creative drinks at the bar, and decided to stay for dinner. Our meal was excellent, beautifully prepared. Two thumbs up!!!!!

Amazing! My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon and were impressed beyond our expectations. The property itself is incredibly unique and beautiful. We stayed in the duplex terrace suite which was a highlight in itself. We dined at the hotel restaurant and were thoroughly impressed by what a high-end experience we had; highlights were the frog legs and the pea royale with seafood emulsion and a deep wine list. The drinks and service we had from the bartender and bar manager and team sealed this as our favorite place of our trip. The gentleman running the bar was especially engaging and had as extensive cocktail knowledge as you will find anywhere. C'est parfait!!

This is a charming and eccentric hotel, with exceptional rooms. We stayed here for a conference, with the conference room, two evening meals and breakfasts provided. We also took advantage of the spa and I used the gym. On the whole, our experience was good. The bed in our room was extremely comfortable, the level of attention and cleanliness from the cleaner was excellent - I did notice some evidence of black mould in the shower that could be removed to improve the quality. There was a reasonable variety of foods at breakfast and we were not hurried out as soon as the time of breakfast-end came round, which was good. Food at lunch and dinner was usually delicious and sometimes adventurous, and it's clear the chef is quite creative. The spa and gym are relatively simple - good steam room, sauna, the spa pool is relatively small and the gym couod do with a couple of machines for weight-bearing exercise, or additional weights for strength work. If our budget allowed, we might be interested in staying again, and found the locale close enough to centres of interest and to the railway station to be convenient.

On first arrival, this appears to be a lovely boutique-style hotel with attractive public areas and a welcoming atmosphere. However, we found the room design and overall practicality could be improved, particularly for two friends sharing.||Lighting in the bedroom was quite limited, and there was no fridge. We also had to request cups and milk twice (though staff were quick and courteous in providing them). The main issue for us was privacy — our room faced directly onto the outdoor terrace, so we felt very visible from the restaurant area. The bathroom and shower were fully glazed without any frosting or screens, which was uncomfortable for two people sharing. To their credit, the staff did provide two bamboo screens, which helped.||In the bar, service was rather slow — after waiting about 15 minutes without being approached, we eventually decided to leave. The spa area is small but pleasant, though access for hotel guests is quite restricted in timing.||There are a few steps into the hotel, and it would have been nice to have some assistance with luggage when checking out. The location is slightly outside the main centre in a less polished area, but there are good transport links nearby.||Overall, this hotel has charm and potential, but some improvements in room design, amenities, and service would make it a much better experience.

Absolutely loved my stay here! The staff were fantastic—so welcoming and always happy to help. The location is spot on with a bus stop right outside the door for the city centre and the train station just a short stroll away. The hotel itself has such a lovely ambience and is beautifully decorated throughout. My room was spacious, comfortable, and well-kept. After a hot day exploring, the rooftop bar was the perfect place to unwind—so chilled and relaxing with great views. Highly recommend!

The hotel is a great place for tourist to stay and their services are great. The receptionists are able to communicate in both English and French, making them able to communicate with anyone willing to stay there irrespective of their language of communication. The hotel also have free Wi-Fi that functioned properly during my stay there. They also have a mini-conference room for meetings that require small number of people like 20-30 participants. The hotel room service was also great as they cleaned the room daily, replacing materials that are exhausted. I would have given them 5 star rating if they had included toothpaste and toothbrush in the rooms and if there was a cross-cultural tone to the food menu.

Panoramic suite bathroom not very private - no curtains and looking over to the rooftop bar. A/C was good in heatwave. Main bed very comfortable but sofa bed was a bit rickety but ok for small kids. Bus stop right outside hotel and short walk to station. We didn’t use the restaurants/bar or spa so can’t comment on them. They have good value early/late check in options.

We so enjoyed our time in Bordeaux, and we highly recommend Hotel Zoologie. Upon arriving we were greeted warmly and check in was very efficient. Our room was available and our bags were taken right up for us, as we were invited to relax as long as we wished with our welcome drink. Throughout our stay we were always greeted as we came and went, and everyone was so accommodating and offering to help with anything we might need. We did enjoy dinner one evening in the hotel and it was amazing, we highly recommend, the food, ambiance and service were all excellent. Thank you for a great 1st visit to Bordeaux.
