I often stay at another hotel in La Laguna, but this time the Nivaria was cheaper and it had breakfast included. It is a nice looking hotel at a good location for the city and with nice staff. But my criticism is mainly due to some problems that the hotel could easily fix:
1. You only get one of those wall-attached generic soap dispensers for the shower, and the same for the sink. At a 4* hotel I would expect to at least have the usual 3 dispensers attached to the wall for soap, shampoo and conditioner. I'm not asking for premium brands, but with the current product at the very least you will need to bring some conditioner with you or buy it locally.
2. The only sockets by the side tables are used by the bedside lamps. So if you want to charge your phones while you sleep, as many (most?) of us do, you will need to unplug those and only use the ceiling lights which are very harsh for right before bed or first thing in the morning use. Providing outlet extenders or a small power strip for those sockets would make the rooms more usable.
3. I was only able to sleep until my 8:15/8:30am alarm one day of my stay. The remaining days, we were woken up around 8 or before by the cleaning crew talking or moving folding beds in the corridors. The corridor floor is stone, which looks beautiful but also amplifies sound. So the early crew activity meant we were woken up most days too early. And this is the one reason why I will not get back to this hotel, I expect to sleep during holidays as long as I need.
If you are only in town for one day, this is a perfectly nice hotel. But if you are staying more days you will miss hair conditioner and enough sleep. These should be easy fixes for the hotel.
