My recent stay at Hotel Laimer Hof was so disappointing that I feel compelled to warn others. My family and I stayed here back in 2010 and really enjoyed the hotel which is why we decided to stay here again in 2024. Unfortunately, since then, the hotel has gone extremely downhill and I would not recommend it to anyone. First of all, the photos on their website are highly deceptive, the rooms and breakfast are not at all as advertised. In reality, the hotel is rundown, old, and extremely musty. The carpets on the stairs were threadbare The room was not well cleaned and the furniture was in poor condition. There were also stains/scuffs on the walls and the curtains had rips in them. The bathrooms are also very small with tiny shower stalls and hand towel racks that touch the (not well cleaned) toilet. The wifi was also very unstable in our room and frequently disconnected. The breakfast was another letdown. It was extremely overpriced for what was essentially a basic, lackluster selection of stale bread/croissants, cold cuts, and a few cereals. This breakfast does not match with what is shown in pictures or what we were served many years ago - it felt like they were trying to cut corners wherever they could. Overall, I felt completely ripped off, and I honestly don’t know how this place is still in business. The photos on the website give an entirely false impression, I would highly suggest spending your money elsewhere. We ended up leaving a few days early and moving to another hotel so that we could enjoy the rest of our vacation.

This hotel is located in a nice, quiet, upmarket suburb or Munich near the Nymphenburg palace and has a number of great restaurants or coffee shops close by. The are is wonderfully quiet and not touristy.|For the premium rates we paid for our 2 night stay, the hotel itself was disappointing. The corridors smelled damp and the rooms were stuffy and overheated.|The bedding was below par and a bit rickety and the sheets were very thin and stained with what looked like old blood on one of them.||The bathroom was basic but the shower was tiny and I couldn’t turn around in it.||The staff were incredibly polite and helpful.||I had forgotten how German hotels are so overheated when it is a bit cooler outside.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights - September 27 - 30 2024. For our entire three week vacation in Munich, Croatia and Spain this was by far the worst accommodation of the trip. The inflated Oktoberfest cost was 400 Euro per night. We have never spent that much on a hotel EVER but it was our anniversary and this one proved to be an absolute disappointment in every regard. The room was dirty, the furniture so stained we used our towels to spread out on the couch and chair. The fridge was not working - even after we plugged the thing in - crazy idea but thought that might help. Sadly, even the breakfast was anything but impressive but that is not the reason for this negative review. The response to our concerns regarding the above mentioned issues was to bring us another fridge and an additional chair (which certainly cluttered our small room even more) and it had the back broken out of it. The hotel responded to my request of a 1/3 refund was to explain that they were very sorry but it was Oktoberfest and staff was trying their best due to an “intense turn over”. They offered a 10% refund of 132 Euro. My question is why a hotel room would be in such deplorable condition at any time? This, by the way, is not a 100 room hotel. While this hotel is in an excellent location I would suggest you keep looking if you are staying in Munich.

Love, love, love this hotel. Quaint and so German. Food delicious. Staff is so friendly and makes you feel like family. Close to the palace. Restaurants with walking distance. Can not wait to return. Thank you.

Charming Hotel with Friendly Staff, but Room for Improvement We had a pleasant stay at this hotel, thanks to the warm and helpful reception staff. They always greeted us with a smile and were eager to assist. We also appreciated the convenience of purchasing our train tickets at the reception. However, our room could benefit from some functional updates. The shower door was broken, and we missed having a coffee machine in our room. Instead, we had to order coffee from the reception at an extra charge. Overall, this hotel has potential, but a bit more attention to detail would make a big difference. Rating: 3.5/5"

Quite a traditional hotel oozing charm. Situated in a beautiful residential area but with east access to the city centre, the hotel ensures a good night’s sleep. Bedrooms are very clean and traditional with good facilities. |The staff at this hotel are amazing. They could not have been more helpful.

We stayed at the Hotel Laimer Hof in 2010 with our friends as newlyweds. We returned in 2023 with our two children. We had to book two rooms to accommodate our family of 4. Rooms and attached bathrooms are on the smaller side but not atypical for these smaller, charming, hotels in Germany. Excellent service - you can tell the staff really cares about the place. Breakfast is really delicious with fresh eggs, coffee, yogurt, tea, meals/cheeses, breads, and hot chocolate for the kids. You can't beat the location - we were easily able to get into Munich while enjoying a smaller town. Lots of restaurants walking distance too. We will be coming back!

We loved this welcoming, comfortable hotel. It’s in a lovely neighborhood within easy walking distance of the Nymphenburg Palace. There’s also another local park nearby with a nice Biergarten and highly-rated Indian and Italian restaurants just a two-minute walk away. The staff is wonderful. Tobias was especially friendly and helpful. Our room was cozy and very clean. Breakfast was very good with made-to-order coffee drinks. We were sad to leave!

Yelp
It's a good hotel for the budget. Very basic, no frills. Parking can be a pain, especially if you're not good at street parking. It's best if you have a small car. It's a very European hotel. No elevators so you may need to walk up 2-3 flights of stairs. There's no gadgets in room 25, aside from a tv and iPod (older version) docking station, and old heaters to keep you warm. The bathroom had a very tiny shower, like a fish tank, and the soap is generic to double up as a shampoo / gel. And a hair dryer that may take extra time to dry. The room 25 was a bit stuffy but airs out after opening the window. I'm afraid it will be hot in the summer as there's no AC. The bed was old, but comfortable and there's some storage space, but it was easier to live out of suitcase. Location isn't bad and I heard public transportation is a few minutes walk. There's a French restaurant down the street that was a little pricy but excellent, a pizza/ pasta place and a cafe if you want breakfast outside the hotel. The hotel doesn't provide breakfast in the room rate, but for an additional €10 per person there's a buffet at 07:00-0900 that's pretty good. Not hot food but plenty of selection like meats, cheese, breads, cereals, yogurts, juice, teas and coffees, including cappuccino. Four stars is about as high as I can suggest. Sebastian is a doll, overly helpful, as is his staff. Again, factor in price and it's a good value but you may miss the comforts of a commercial hotel.

Yelp
Quaint and not to far out of the City Center to enjoy a Lovely and safe local Bavarian neighborhood. Easy walk to wonderful restaurants with great food. The owners are so welcoming and staff was super friendly. Reasonably priced for the accommodations. Great experience over a chain hotel and must try!

Yelp
What an incredible experience. Jan and the entire staff made us feel welcome as if we were guests at their home. We were able to relax during our visit to Munich. The location was perfect for us to take a stroll on the nymphenburg palace grounds or walk about 5 blocks to hirschgarten beer garden. There were many restaurants, cafes, and ice cream shops within easy walking distance. The room we stayed in had a lot of character and got a nice breeze. We slept comfortably despite no A/C and highs of 80 F each day.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at this great little hotel during a quick stop through Munich. Sebastian and his wife were excellent hosts with so many suggestions and so much knowledge. Our room/bathroom was spacious enough with a comfortable bed. Easy access to public transport and great restaurants with walking distance. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Yelp
I can't believe I forgot to finish my review of Hotel Laimer Hof! They were probably the best part of our German vacation, aside from all of the beautiful sights and foods. Sebastian and Co. were amazing! They knew all that there was to see and do in Munich. The location was amazing as it was away from all the crazy hustle and bustle that is there. Close to beautiful palaces, restaurants, and the amazing bus system that can take you anywhere you need to go. The hotel was clean and quiet, but at the same time, there was always something lively happening in the lobby. I was told that they served a good continental breakfast in the mornings but I could never rouse myself up to make it down in time. The team was always ready to greet my hubby and I when we would finally head out and they were always ready to pour a round to get the day/night started. I only had 2 complaints about the establishment and those were: The showers are made for elves. Both my hubby and I are tall and we had to duck down low to get wet. There wasn't much space to turn around in that bad boy either but it was clean and the pressure was good so we made due. Also, the TV was terrible. Like sound, picture, what was available for viewing...all of it. Normally I wouldn't even care about the television but with it being a holiday week at the time we visited, there wasn't much to do outdoors after 6pm some nights and a little relaxing in the room would have been nice. Overall, we loved it and would (and will) totally visit again. They have an awesome apartment for larger groups available and we just might bring the whole family next time.

Yelp
Wonderful gem of a hotel with fantastic staff. The rooms are basic and quite typical of a small German hotel. We loved the double comforters because that's how we sleep at home. The bed was comfortable but the typical twin mattresses on a king frame. Not a bug, but a feature of small German hotels. The rooms aren't fancy, but again, they are typical of small private hotels - a feature, not a bug. The shower deserves a mention because if you're a person of larger size, you may not be able to shower. It's a small tube shower that doesn't allow for a lot of movement. We turned the water on full-blast the first day and it felt a bit like being hit with a fire hose in a phone booth. But, you can control the flow so the next day we were more conservative with the water pressure. Also, there are no elevators so be prepared to hike the stairs unless you ask for a ground floor room. The staff was the best, though. Jan was not only helpful but humorous. Sebastian always wanted to know if we needed any tips or help before we headed out for the day. The nearby tram was completely explained by Jan to us when we arrived. I've always been a bit afraid of German trams/trains because of the requirement that you validate a ticket. It's not always obvious that you need to nor always easy to find the machine to do it and if you forget and get caught, the fine is huge. But, it was so simple and made our trips into the city simple and fast. Parking wasn't difficult as we arrived during the day and there was quite a bit of street parking. We also parked in the small hotel lot after a day trip. There are plenty of restaurants, shops (Rewe and Rossman are by the tram stop) and Nymphenburg Palace is a short walk away. You have everything you need within just a few blocks of the hotel. Breakfast was adequate and delicious - typical European fare of meats, cheeses, breads, etc. There are scrambled eggs and a few other hot selections. Check out the small case by the computer desk in the lobby. There are some lovely handmade items in it for sale that are made by the ladies who work at the hotel. It's a nice alternative to a cheap mass-produced souvenir with MUNICH stamped across it. We would absolutely stay here again if we return to Munich.

Yelp
This is a great hotel to stay in. You're not in downtown, but very close to Schloß Nymphenburg. The staff was extremely helpful and the room was nice. We enjoyed the neighborhood-feel and in terms of safety had no concern taking walks to various sights in the area. Street parking was busy, but possible. We had the breakfast -- it was your standard German fare -- warmed sausages, hard boiled eggs, bread/jam, various cheeses, etc. Presentation was nice and it was delicious. In order to get into downtown, we walked toward the Hirschgarten and jumped on the S-Bahn (S2) and got off at the Marienplatz in the Altstadt. I actually prefer this to dealing with driving in the more congested areas -- stay slightly outside of downtown, then use Germany's well-developed public transportation system. Wir möchten zu München gehen wieder bald (my poor attempt at German). Thanks for the hospitality - we really enjoyed ourselves.

Yelp
Extremely helpful and friendly staff helped us find our way around Munich. Good food and drinks. The breakfast left something to be desired but it wasn't a ripoff. The room was clean and up to par. Great area and plenty of things to eat!

Yelp
My brother and I stayed here for a few nights in April. It was fantastic! Very friendly staff who were always willing to help and answer any questions about the city. If I return to Munich, I will be staying here again!

Yelp
This is one of the best hotels in Munich. We have been staying here for years and it is always a treat. We stay here because the service is always top-notch and the atmosphere is relaxing. Located on a back street right near the Nymphenburg Palace, it has many great restaurant within a ten minute walk. Sebastian and Alexandra are always so helpful and they bend over backward to help out. If you need any tips on where to go in Munich, just ask Jan. He always has a good tip for the best of Munich's restaurants and biergartens.

Yelp
I can't say enough wonderful things about this establishment. It was exactly what we wanted. We are American and wanted to feel like we were in Bavaria. The accommodations were modern, yet it didn't feel like we're were in a big corporate hotel. The proprietors made us feel like we were staying with friends. We walked to the Palace and avoided all the hastle of the crowds getting there. I can't wait to go back!
