Excellent place to stay. Staff is great. Does need updating, but it's not like it's falling apart. So peaceful and relaxing. On the boardwalk. Walk to markets, restaurants, shops.

My husband and I recently spent 4 very pleasant nights at this charming and historic hotel right on the shores of Lake Chapala. Alicia McNiff was a gracious host and her nephew, Juan Carlos, her manager, made sure we were comfortable in every way. The multi-course breakfasts, served in a lovely formal dining room, started with copious servings of fresh fruit, followed by fresh-squeezed orange juice, and capped by scrumptious egg dishes prepared by Lupe, an accomplished cook. This inn was clearly one of the stars of our stay! Did we mention the outdoor pool surrounded by lush tropical plants?

We just spent a week at the Lake Chapala Inn. The best B&B we have ever stayed in! A fabulous room that overlooked the lake. An open airy room that allowed us to enjoy the cool breezes in addition to the fabulous views. Our hostess, Alicia, made us feel like family. We had great times just talking with her and letting her share her experiences about Mexico with us. She is an absolute delight! The breakfast were always first class with fresh squeezed juice every morning. Alicia, Juan Carlos and the rest of the staff are all the most gracious host one could hope to encounter. With all the shopping and restaurants only minutes walk away, it is a most charming, first class getaway, yet allows one to be immersed into the Mexican culture and enjoy the people and traditions of Chapala. Will definitely stay there again on our next trip to Chapala.

The property is gorgeous! The rooms are large and very clean and done on a daily basis. The views are spectacular too. It's walking distance to the town center and if you have a car, they provide parking free of cost. Friday's and Saturday's can be noisy mostly but teenage kids like kids do everywhere in the world. Senora Alicia is out of this world!!! She is so engaging and truly a perfect example what it's like to be a true Mexican. When you first meet her you will fall in love. I speak Spanish but my wife doesn't yet the Senora speak both very well. We just wanted to take her home she was so warm :-) The daily breakfast were also outstanding as well as all the house keeping...||||The wifi could be better - couldn't get a good connection unless we were in the "open patio" on the 2nd floor near our room but there is an "Infinitum" (Telmex) hot spot right outside on the malecon (boardwalk) that was perfect.

spacious rooms with very nice common areas, no phone, old tv, but good wifi and great location.||very good breakfast and safe parking, all that for 90 bucks, nice. Chapala is not a long-stay destination, if you are under 85 years of age. It's a very small lake-side town with some nice brick buildings and a lively waterfront, boat rides and all. no swimming beaches and no high end activities. Lake Chapala Inn is arguably the best choice for a night or two.

We found this charming property quite by accident while on a scouting trip to Ajijic and Chapalla looking for a summer rental. The Chapalla Inn is located right on the Malećon in Chapalla. We rang the bell and a few moments later, the owner appeared and showed us the property. ||||We were on our way to Buserias (outside Puerto Vallarta) to pickup my sister and brother-in-law. We called them and asked if they wanted to stop and stay here on our way back to Manzanillo. We made reservations for the following Tuesday.||||The Inn has four suites for rent. We choose the Jacaronda and my sister the Rose room. Both overlook the Malećon and the lake. The rooms were spacious and clean. Our rooms were joined by a large open style grate room (the windows do not have glass) with couches and water cooler overlooking the lake. We were the only guests that evening and Alicia (the owner) told us we could access the main floor rooms which included: a formal dining room, living room, kitchen (to chill our beverages), and library complete with fireplace.||||We played cards on the games table located next to the dining room while we enjoyed some chilled adult beverages. The library had a selection of CDs and player to help create a mood. ||||The bedrooms were comfortable but need a bit of updating (such as paint). This is a small criticism as the property is very well looked after and we certainly enjoyed the ambiance. I mention this for those travellers that are looking for pristine accommodations. ||||In the morning we were treated to a full breakfast complete with fresh squeezed juices and fruit plate. We were offered a selection of egg dishes prepared by the chef who also was our waitress. The coffee and toast was bottomless. On the whole I give the breakfast a 5/5 for quality, presentation and taste.||||The property also has a shaded sitting area and pool overlooking the lake.||||If you have occasion to visit Chapalla, the Chapalla Inn should be your address. I must warn you that there are only four rooms, so book in advance and avoid disappointment.||||At the time of our visit, cash was the only payment option. But the upside was that the rates are reasonable.||||Would we stay here again? ||With out a doubt, anytime we visit the area, we will stay at the Chapalla Inn (space permitting).||||If you still have doubts, take a look at the photos I have attached.||||Happy travels!!!

Made a reservation at this property several weeks prior to my trip to Lake Chapala. However, upon arrival, we found no one in residence. After 3 trips to the front gate, and numerous voice messages with no response over 4 hours ... we were forced to find another hotel at the last minute. I've never received any explanation or communication from the hotel. Luckily, I was able to get a full refund when I contacted B.com about this issue. There are too many nice properties in Chapala to support such lack of respect for clients. I recommend you look elsewhere for accommodation in this lovely town!

Very beautiful and quiet place with charming owner. The room was very spacy and spotless, and it had a balcony and beautiful view to the lake. Lovely Hacienda style and the best breakfast we tried so far. Really nice B&B for couple of days.

Yelp
Great cozy lake front hotel / inn that's owned by a sweet lady from Mexico, the outskirts of Mexico City. Originally a family's home, it's been converted to a three bedroom inn. First floor consists of a kitchen, dining room, and two separate little reading rooms. There's also a small lap pool. Bedrooms are all in the second floor. The third floor is where the owner lives. With your stay, a good breakfast is served, home cooked by the staff there in their kitchen. As me and my family have stayed there a couple of times, we've come to learn that you can request why the main dish can be. Regardless, it's alway three courses, a plate of sliced fresh fruit, oatmeal, and main dish. Location is great, lake front and only a short one block away from the main road down the middle of Chapala town. They also have a small private parking lot for their guests. If needed, they are able to pick you up from the Guadalajara airport, tho I would not necessarily recommend this. It's not what they really do in a normal basis. Every time we visit family in Chapala, we always check to see if they have rooms available and if yes, that's where we stay.
