We stayed in Hotel Laki, luckily for only one night in February and it was way overpriced. Value for money is majorly unreciprocated and unreasonable. The water in the toilet needs a double or even a triple flush every time. Another problem that we had to deal with with was the temperature of the room. Upon entering our room we felt a cold breeze which you definitely don’t want in the middle of February on Iceland. Worst of all, our whole bodies are itchy after one night of sleeping in the bed. We got rashes all over our legs and backs and even after 2 days the itching isn’t stopping. It’s unbearable. Other than that, the wifi was good, not exceptional but good enough. Breakfast was solid and the location of the hotel is actually great for haunting the Northern lights.

We were traveling as a family of 8. All 18+ and 5 are 6’1” or taller. We had 4 rooms which worked well for our group. Beds were comfortable. Rooms had what we needed but are very basic. The dinner buffet is too expensive for what you get. Breakfast was decent and it’s nice that it’s included.

The location and the service were excellent. The room had a few issues but to be fair I didn't complain to the staff about them. One of the lights above the bed would not come on, the switch was damaged. The shower soap dispenser was barely hanging on the wall. The tub stopper was broken. There was no bathroom vent, the second switch seemed to do nothing. And there really should be a hand rail for stepping out of the tub as the tub is high from the floor and my son slipped stepping out. As I said, I did not report to staff as these were but minor inconveniences and the location was great but in hindsight I wish I would have. Room 223 if staff reads this. The included breakfast was a little sparse by Reykjavik standards but a good light cold meal. We did have some noisy neighbors the last night so mayhaps the walls are a bit thin.

Great customer service. The room was a little out dated, but they suffice. The breakfast provided by the hotel was fantastic. The bar was so cozy with one amazing view. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are doing a South Iceland trip.

Hotel Laki was a medium-priced option to stay at for my vacation. I found the room to be adequate. I stayed next to the bar on the second floor. There was an elevator which was helpful for my luggage. The bed was comfortable and the room had a small balcony. I particularly liked the throw blanket on the bed that was made from Icelandic wool. There were no room thermostats or radiators for adjusting but the room was warm. The bathroom felt dated but worked just fine. There was some small items that should be replaced/repaired such as a missing sink catch and plug, the showerhead had some clogged holes, and the ceiling had a little water damage. The bathtub/shower was raised and was difficult to enter and exit due to its height. I could imagine those with mobility issues would have difficulties. The water was hot and there was good water pressure. The service at Hotel Laki was excellent. I believe this is a family run business and they are swift to address any issues you may have. They were very knowledgeable and friendly. The staff at the restaurant and bar were very helpful and I enjoyed chatting with them about the food. The hotel restaurant and bar are very expensive. Although expensive, the food and drinks were very good. The ambiance was great at the bar, and they had a lot of options (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). There were a couple of items on the restaurant menu that were vegan. The breakfast buffet was large and had many items including lots of Icelandic food. They had seafood options and amazing bread selections. The vegan options were limited, but they did have beans, porridge, and toast. The hotel has a small souvenir shop that contains handmade icelandic sweaters created by people in the area. They also have postcards, magnets, water bottles, and other souvenirs. They do not offer VAT Tax - Tax Refund Cheque, which you need to get VAT tax back on larger purchases.

There are many different sections to this hotel. We were booked into the section that I believe was made from shipping containers. Walking down the hall to our room, we said either this is a meat locker or a cell block. However the room was wonderfully appointed and a good size for 2. Only complaint was that the two pillows provided were exactly like the ones on my mom’s guest bed that have been there since the 1970s. No stuffing at all. ||I love that this hotel has maintained the culture of the area with displays of farming and the lava ash and even local lore. They were also super accommodating when we asked if we could get a breakfast to go because we had to leave about 20 minutes before service started in order to reach a reservation. The couple who managed the breakfast service were so kind and we greatly enjoyed chatting with them.

Everything was great. The rooms, beds and the staff. The dinner was delicious. Very good breakfast as well. Highly recommended hotel with very good food. We had the fish of the day which was salmon now in october and it was really good and tasty 🙂

We were only at Hotel Laki for one night and our room was very basic but it had everything we needed for a one night stay. The breakfast buffet had the most wonderful homemade bread (it was the highlight of our stay there!) and a great coffee/cappuccino machine.|The "Northern Lights Roof" that they advertise is very misleading! We had a hard time finding the room and once we did - it had a broken glass door leading outside - the room looked very rundown - only 4 chairs - there were no blankets and no hot chocolate! So if you are booking for that room - don't bother.
