The 52 Best Hotels in Paris

"The creative spirit of former residents—like Marlene Dietrich, Grace Kelly, and Greta Garbo—imbue the spaces of this elegant Parisian spot which in the 1880s served as the residence of a Spanish aristocrat. Enlarged into a hotel in the Roaring ‘20s, the private home feel lingers with antique accents, original detailing, and portraits by 1930s Russian artist Boris Pastoukhoff (another former resident), all balanced by comfy-contemporary furnishings. Artists and creative types have always felt at home here, and today mingle with other discerning (and deep-pocketed) travelers who value tradition and the finer things, but also a side of soul. Set along winding corridors, the 45 rooms and 11 suites are bright and beautiful with tall windows, street or garden views, and residential décor in keeping with the mansion’s history. Antique pieces, gilded frames, and original flourishes like brick fireplaces and time-worn herringbone parquet floors are enlivened by whimsical rugs and the occasional pop of pink or yellow. You'll feel at home in one of Paris's chicest districts." - Sandra Ramani, Lindsey Tramuta

Hôtel Lancaster

"So, can you tell us a little about this place? The creative spirit of former residents like Marlene Dietrich, Grace Kelly, and Greta Garbo imbue the spaces of this elegant spot, which began in the 1880s as the residence of a Spanish aristocrat, then was enlarged into a hotel in the Roaring ‘20s. The private home feel lingers, with antique accents, original detailing, and portraits by 1930s Russian artist Boris Pastoukhoff (another former resident) balanced by comfy, contemporary furnishings. The place was updated in 2020 by Studio Jean Philippe Nuel. Ooh, sounds swanky. What’s the crowd like?Artists and creative types have always felt at home here, and today mingle with other discerning (and deep-pocketed) travelers who value tradition and the finer things, but also a little soul with their sophistication. Got it. Now, onto the good stuff: Tell us about the digs.Set along winding corridors, the 45 rooms and 11 suites are bright and beautiful, with tall windows, street or garden views, and a residential décor, in keeping with the mansion’s history. Antique pieces, gilded frames, and original flourishes like brick-lined fireplaces and time-worn herringbone parquet floors are enlivened by clean-lined furniture, whimsical rugs, and a palette of grays, creams, and the odd pop of pink or yellow. Wow—beautiful. Are we going to sleep well here? You'll sink into cloud-like beds topped with high-end linens and cushy duvets. Perfect. How about the little things, like the mini bar, or the shower goodies? What made your stay more comfortable? There aren't a ton of in-room amenities (maybe as a nod to the residential atmosphere?), but a TV with Chromecast and free Wi-Fi have the essentials covered. The Marlene Dietrich Suite honors the icon with extras like a baby grand piano. That's definitely the one to book. And please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down?Lined with geometric white marble, the bathrooms have both a tub and shower (in most categories), and refreshing Clarins products. Excellent. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is complimentary. Great. How about room service?Room service is available 24/7. Phew! Any other services or features you'd like to shout out? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.Named for a friend of Dietrich's—known simply as "Monsieur"—who loved to both cook and explore the French countryside, the hotel's refined restaurant serves elevated lunches and dinners that draw from farm-fresh seasonal ingredients, and work perfectly with something from the noted wine list. You'll find well-heeled locals and curious tourists enjoying a coffee on the courtyard patio, surrounded by flowering vines. As of 2022, Copper Bay, one of the capital’s top craft cocktail bars, has moved into the hotel and taken over the bar operation. Another recent feature: the private spa perched on the hotel’s top floor (treatments must be booked 24 hours in advance), alongside a sliver of a fitness room. Laptops and iPad are available to borrow, pets are welcome, and a Clefs d'Or concierge is on hand for suggestions. Sounds like they love Dietrich! We'll have to try that restaurant, though. So, bottom line: What will we get from a stay here?Feel at home in one of Paris's chicest districts, thanks to this former mansion's refined service and civilized style." - Sandra Ramani

Hotel Lancaster, Paris, France - Explore & Book

"The Lancaster is steeped in history. Built in 1889 as a private mansion and converted to a hotel in 1930, it has seen royalty, movie stars, artists, politicians and society figures pass through its doors. Its 54 rooms and suites are magnificently opulent, and there’s a choice of no fewer than 3 salons, all of them stuffed with unusual antiques: precious porcelain, Baccarat chandeliers, rare wall clocks, Louis XV furniture, even some oil paintings donated by the émigré Boris Pastoukhoff to settle his bill. Yet, for all this, its atmosphere remains refreshingly unstuffy. Stay here and you'll feel enchanted, but not overawed.Whilst the essence of the palatial building has been totally respected, innovations and mod cons have been added over time. One of the old drawing rooms is now Monsieur Restaurant, a fine dining establishment headed up by leading chef Sébastien Giroud, who offers lavish three- and five-course set menus for dinner. The Art-Deco-style Marlene bar (named after former resident Marlene Dietrich) keeps up the glamour with its plush interiors and extensive drinks menu - come here for pre-dinner cocktails or post-dinner whiskies.Ideally situated in Paris' Golden shopping Triangle, the Lancaster is one of life's delicious experiences. Hôtel Lancaster Paris (Paris, Île-de-France) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"When the Lancaster opened its doors the phrase “luxury boutique hotel” hadn’t yet been invented — but that’s more or less what it’s always been. Back in the Emile Wolf days it was the sort of place you’d catch the likes of Grace Kelly or Noël Coward haunting its halls. Today, a century on, it’s once again family-owned, and is once again among the purest exemplars of Parisian luxury hospitality, at a scale that’s more intimate and more residential in atmosphere than the city’s grand old palaces." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel Lancaster in Paris is an institution with 100 years of history. The hotel is ideally situated just a few steps from the Champs Elysees, yet traffic in Rue de Berri is much less crowded. ||The rooms are supremely comfortable with heavenly beds. The air conditioning systems keeps a constant temperature and operates silently. We could individually adjust the temperature of the bed room and sitting room. The double glazing keeps noise from the street out and the white marble bathrooms with solid metal fittings are built for eternity. There is an excellent and plentiful selection of luxury French bathroom products available.||What really stands out is the highly personal and super friendly service. The chief concierge, Monsieur Eric, spent a lot of time “rescuing” our reservation for a Seine dinner cruise which my wife erroneously booked on the wrong date. Monsieur Eric went out of his way to deal with the cruise company even before our arrival in the hotel. ||Monsieur Eric not just wears the golden keys of the clefs d’or concierge organisation but he is the golden heart and soul of the hotel. His team always greeted us upon entering and leaving the hotel and all the transportation arrangements were perfect. ||Breakfast in the Monsieur Restaurant of the hotel is a delightful start to the day with a very good selection of breads, juices, cold cuts, smoked salmon and cheese available buffet style and hot egg dishes can be ordered à la carte. ||When a friend from Normandy visited we had lunch in the hotel restaurant and the set lunch at Euro 49.00 is excellent value for money and the food quality is very high. ||The hotel celebrates its centenary in November and the service and product quality of this establishment is like precious French wine, it just gets better over time.

My third stay at the Lancaster, and I think that in itself speaks about my satisfaction with this exceptional hotel! it has all the elements every one needs: excellent Location, spotless cleanliness, attention to details, attentive and kind stuff that makes you feel like family, large rooms and comfortable beds, and delicious breakfast. It’s your home in Paris with luxury hotel flavors. Thank you to everyone in this amazing hotel who made my 21 nights stay perfect and memorable.

Google
We recently spent five nights at Hotel Lancaster Paris to celebrate our honeymoon, having chosen it in hopes of enjoying an intimate, luxurious experience that a boutique five-star property promises. While our stay was comfortable in parts, it ultimately fell short of expectations — particularly given the hotel’s reputation and price point. Service and Atmosphere The overall service was courteous but lacked warmth and genuine hospitality. The staff often felt cool and somewhat defensive, which made simple requests unnecessarily complicated. For instance, when we asked for our coffee to be prepared in a particular way, it became a point of contention rather than a straightforward adjustment — even leading to the breakfast manager presenting us with different coffees in what felt like an attempt to educate us. Additionally, we were told that the cozy booth tables at breakfast were reserved for large families — yet across six mornings, we never once saw such groups. These small but consistent experiences gave the impression that guest comfort and preference were not prioritized. Rooms and Facilities Our room was elegantly presented and immaculately clean, though surprisingly compact. We were also disappointed not to receive our expected Centurion upgrade, which has always been honored at other affiliated hotels. The explanation provided was that the property was fully booked due to Fashion Week — however, Fashion Week had concluded the day prior to our arrival, and the hotel did not appear to be at capacity. Cleanliness and Dining Areas The most unsettling aspect of our stay was witnessing a mouse on three separate occasions in the bar and dining areas. While management did offer a complimentary night as compensation, the issue persisted, ultimately leading my partner to avoid dining on the premises altogether. For a property of this caliber, this was an unacceptable lapse in hygiene and maintenance. Spa and Guest Experience We had also hoped to make use of the spa facilities, booking several months in advance. Unfortunately, despite our early request, it appeared that preference was given to external clients over in-house guests — another example of the hotel’s misplaced priorities. Location One undeniable highlight of Hotel Lancaster is its exceptional location. Final Thoughts Hotel Lancaster possesses undeniable charm and history, and there were glimpses of what could have been a memorable stay. However, the lack of genuine hospitality, attention to guest comfort, and several operational oversights made it difficult to view this as a true five-star experience. While not the worst stay we’ve had, it was far from exceptional — and regrettably, we would neither return nor recommend it.

Google
Really lovely hotel close to the Arc, Metro stations and all the high end shops. The staff are really excellent and super helpful. Breakfast was really great on our first two days but had less options and felt more rushed on the last 2 mornings (Sunday & Monday). Perhaps the Chef was away and there were less staff. It has a nice bar for the evening and great selection of cocktails. They don’t have a Pool but there is the option of a hot tub if you book a Spa service. The gym is on the top floor with lovely views. It’s small but never busy and has what you need. The cleaning service was good also. For its location the rooms where surprising quite from the street noises. Overall an excellent stay in Paris.

Hotel Lancaster is our go to hotel when visiting Paris. The hotel offers a great balance of luxury, service and great location. My wife loves the proximity to some of best luxury shopping in Paris. The staff are very friendly and speak good English. The breakfast menu combines local flavors and fresh fruit. The bar is a great place to unwind after a day of shopping or sightseeing or business.

Google
Hotel Lancaster is exceptionally well located, close to all the shops, major land marks and public transport. The hotel is large enough to provide all the trappings of a 5 star hotel like 24 hours room service, a beautiful full service restaurant and bar but it is small enough to take care of the clients in a highly personal manner. The rooms are very comfortable with good water pressure, excellent and quiet air conditioning and a heavenly bed. The team members interact with the guests in a highly professional yet friendly way. Especially Monsieur Eric, the chief concierge and his team are to be commended for providing exemplary service.

This was my third time in Paris. I stayed Sofitel de opera and Shangri-La in last 2 trips. All these hotels are fantastic but this hotel surprised me in many ways, it was a Gem in Champs-Elysées. Great location for tour and shopping with immaculate service. Specially Eric was exceptional to accommodate my early arrival from US and helped me with all the questions for shopping and food. I also was surprised to see rooms were ready for night after long day of walking the city. I strongly recommend this hotel.

Google
Hotel Lancaster is a superb boutique hotel. Our room was large and beautifully furnished. It is a beautiful historic building that has been tastefully upgraded and beautifully maintained. The concierges were outstanding in their knowledge and their service. Of the several five star hotels in which we have stayed in Paris, the Hotel Lancaster stands out.

Yelp
This hotel is conveniently located in walking distance to the Arc de Triomph and Champ Elysees. The festive decor and warm welcome from the staff, namely, Eric, made the stay super pleasant. We ordered room service and the food was delicious. A few things I didn't like, though, probably out of the hotel's control, were: (1) an insect with claws were crawling out of the gap in the bathroom, (2) next door can hear the hair dryer so we had an angry knock on our door at night, (3) fetching an Uber was difficult, we've had 2 rides canceled because it took them too long to turn into the street but the hotel realizes this as there were signs with this warning and that they can help with getting you a taxi, and (4) there was a water pipe repair that caused the hotel to not have water from 9-5, a good 8 hours. Other than these out of the hotel's control issues, the room was spacious and comfortable, and staff was friendly.

Yelp
I love this hotel so much that I would come back here for a return visit to Paris. I might go by myself Yber and Taxis are very cheap, to me, in Paris. The hotel first makes sure you never open a door. Always a nice sign of good service and good tips from us. How lovely! When we came in staff was so welcoming and warm. Inviting is the best word. Not only was check I'm smooth we were given a tour of where the amenities were and also went inside our large room and told us how to work absolutely everything. The key to the door was heavy so they would keep it for us when we left and returned. The room had a big king sized bed with a small twin bed for me. My Mum, sister, and I wanted to stay together for our girls trip. We we're going to get my Mum her own room but she wanted to be with her daughters The greeted us with complimentary brownies and meringues. Im a bit of a snob so I expect treats on my bed when they do turn down service because let's just br honest. We pay for all that anyway. Once they saw we liked theI brownies and didn't like the meringues the should have brought more even if it was just one a piece. I'm just used to that. They had a cute bar in the hotel with very funny staff. The hotel was c'est magnifie! I would go again and again

Yelp
We asked for 3 twin beds to accommodate 3 generations and they did. Kept us from paying for 2 rooms, adequate closet and bath space. The history behind the hotel I had already read up on. Fresh cut flowers in the room was a real touch of Parisian flare. Room service outstanding, the cosmo in the bar was a refreshing drink. They do not offer shuttle service to the airport or anywhere that was the downside. Our plane was14 hours late but they kept our room for us. Newspaper was digital not as claimed on website as the strikers were real. The mile high garbage they kept at bay so we did not have to be mugged by that. The two men that met us each day at the door were super helpful in the rain dispensing umbrellas larger than out tiny ones, and always allowed our G7 rides to wiggle in on the curb space. Outstanding hotel for 2 of first time visitors to Paris. It was easy to walk to places & dinner Recs in the hood were given to us. A pharmacy for pain meds for the knees was in a tiny wrap around mall across the street. Safety especially for single women was a big plus during the protests. Loved our balcony hated the construction that started at 5 each morning, totally a bummer

Yelp
We attempted to stay in this hotel in April of 2023. The entire place smelled like sewage. Rather than help the situation the front desk staff was dismissive and rude. The rooms were extremely tired and the place is two doors down from a strip club. We ended up leaving the hotel without a refund for that night or the next night. When we asked why they wouldn't refund the second night they said it was after 3 PM. It was after 3 PM because we spent an hour discussing the issues with the front desk. Stay away from this hotel when in Paris. The rooms I could handle - the attitude from the front desk was unacceptable.

Yelp
A corner away from the very lively Avenue des Champs Élysées, is this very fancy, discreet and chic hotel called the Lancaster. It's just one of the many more luxurious and high-end hotels in the district but it has a way to stand out from the crowd. There's a saying in French, "aux petits soins" it means being well taken care for and it's exactly the experience we had. The room are absolutely gorgeous with a very traditional but chic style and it's been a while since I've had a bed so fluffy and comfy. Like any good old establishment, The Lancaster also has its story to be told. It was built as a private residence in 1889, and still has that private ambiance. Some famous names have established residence in those apartments like Marlene Dietrich, famous german actress and singer to which memory to best suite is now dedicated and named after. Beside all this comfort, style, luxury and perfect service, what I liked the most about the Lancaster can be found, on the walls, all around the hotel, in different sizes shapes and sizes. I'm talking about the hotel's several original paintings on display, including numerous portraits by Russian artist Boris Pastoukhoff who lived there in the 1930s along with other antiques. La Table du Lancaster, the Michelin star restaurant is supervised by Master Chef, Julien Roucheteau. Even the buffet breakfast is served at the starred restaurant for a starred price of 42 euros. I haven't had the chance to experience Chef Roucheteau's culinary excellence, but I've heard masses on his expertise.

Yelp
A breath away for Champs-Elysee. This hotel offers prime real estate and prime hospitality. You're in the heart of all the shopping and eating. Two blocks away from Arc de Triomphe, one block from Louis Vuitton. Monoprix grocery store is a 5 minute walk and in the same block as the subway. Don't let this posh place intimidate you. They are absolutely kid friendly. From the well-made cribs, posh baby toiletry items, and the cute stuffed bunnies, all the stops were pulled to make this mama bear happy and without asking. About the staff - Jaluca was the bellman who worked 3 of our 4 day stay. His smile is so big, bright, and genuine. He greeted my daughter each day by name. He is the best part of this hotel for guests. He starts your stay wonderfully with his positive energy, and bids you a warm and safe farewell on your ventures out. We learned that he is from Italy and speaks English, Italian, French, and currently learning Spanish. Max was another bellman who was a delight. He speaks German, English, and French. These guys are incredibly personable and charming. The keys are old school brass keys. You leave your key with the front desk as you leave the hotel. The chrome vintage inspired bathroom fixtures are nostalgic of old Paris. Clean bathrooms and bedrooms. They offer channels in multiple languages. In English you'll have CNN and BBC. Great experience.

Yelp
The idea that this hotel has 5 stars is mind boggling. It's centrally located, which is nice. But the service and accommodations are at most 3 star. The breakfast is not worth your time. The front desk staff is pretty much useless. They only give you one towel in the room, which is not very accommodating when there are two of you. I would never stay at this hotel again. Especially at the price. There are far more better options. I decided to give it 2 stars because it deserves 2. That's it

Yelp
The staff were most curteous and professional. The rooms are amazing accomodations, incredibly luxurious and comfortable! One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in, right off Champs de elyses with great food and shopping a 1minute walk. Giant and spacious marble covered bathrooms, and the bed, oh my the bed! So soft! I could not leave my room and be happy! They size of the room is modest with a little balcony overlooking the courtyard, they also have onsite laundry service, a workout room on the 8th floor and classical music already playing when you enter your room. The caramel and biscottis waiting are a nice little touch compared to chocolates on the pillow. Very very pleased!

Yelp
This was our first visit to the Hotel Lancaster and it will be our choice whenever we return to Paris in the future. The Lancaster is a boutique, romantic hotel, right off the Champs-Elysees. It could not be more convenient. The staff is gracious and professional. The breakfasts, held in a lovely salon reminiscent of times long past, were memorable. If you are looking for a small hotel with impeccable service, you should definitely consider the Lancaster.

Yelp
From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The artwork alone is candy for the eye never mind the beautiful setting. The food is incredible. Breakfast, lunch and dinner it's all 5 star while the bar makes some of the best drinks we ever had. Definitely we will return.

Yelp
Worth every star. Centrally located in Paris, beautiful rooms and first class staff. They dropped the ball when we orders room service. We ordered two items and they only brought us one. The staffs English is underdeveloped but they quickly remedied the order and brought us our second meal in about 20 minutes. When you arrive to your room they show you the features (a/c, lights, etc) and have a small box of caramels and cookies for you with a sweet welcome note.

Yelp
With just 57 rooms, this is the perfect Paris boutique hotel. It's romantic, yet just off the Champs. The rooms are quaint, yet luxurious. The Clefs d'Or concierge team means impeccable service from top to bottom.

Yelp
A well considered aesthetic experience from curb to headboard. The staff was exceptional from the charming doorman to the wonderful bar staff and concierge. We were made to feel welcome despite our poor French and late night arrival. I'd love to return again soon.

Yelp
Wonderful location if you want to be in the hub of Paris. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are large and tastefully decorated. Beds very comfortable. Our breakfast each morning was typical French fare filled with wonderful pastries! And the bartender made a great martini!

Yelp
This hotel is beautiful - it was like a luxury apartment, not a hotel room. Loved the blue velvet accents, chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling windows and huge bathroom. Plus, the staff was extremely helpful with recommendations. Service was impeccable. Only ding is that it's in a touristy area ... but there's good shopping nearby!

Yelp
Wonderful hotel just off the Champs Elysées, with the convenient George V Metro stop just a block away. The gracious staff are super friendly and speak English. Beautiful traditional rooms with marble bathrooms with great showers. Very quiet with AC/heating that makes no noise. We felt as if we had a second home in Paris. Looking forward to staying here again on a future trip.

Yelp
I shall start by clarifying that this review will be from the perspective of a tourist visiting Paris and looking for a good place to eat. I have visited a number of restaurants with french tasting menus in London. So during my last visit to Paris, i had wanted to try one such good place in France itself. But i was going there during the christmas-new year period. I never expected to get a reservation. I called a number of places. Either all were full or were charging an exorbitant price for that time of the year. Finally i settled for Michel Troisgros' restaurant here at the Lancaster. Located at rue de Berri, which is off Champs Elysées close to the Arc de Triomphe ... Lancaster was very easy to find and get to. The dining area was located close to an open garden which let in a lot of light. I had ordered a 3 course tasting menu, which was priced very reasonably at 67 euros per person ... cheaper than most comparable (that is michelin starred) places in London even with the euro at the levels it was then. The food was good and service was as expected of this place ... formal and courteous. I especially liked the fish that i had for the main course and the multiple types of bread ... i seem to fill up a lot of space with bread in these haute cuisine places :) Lancaster didn't enforce a formal dress code which was a plus for a tourist like me and made the place accessible. Although the experience was nice and there were no obvious flaws, it still didn't reach up to the levels of the London eateries i can compare it to ... Alain Ducasse or Roussillon. Thats why i settle for a 4 star.

Yelp
Stayed here for a couple days while the hubby and I were in Paris. The hotel is in prime location but the price and room did not add up. We payed 600 euros a night and the room was tiny and a bit dated. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was tasty. Next time I will be booking at the George V.

Laura S.

Yelp
The most exceptional service of any Parisian hotel. From the bellman to reception to the bar to room service. Everyone was so incredibly nice and thoughtful. You are always addressed by your name...they must send an alert to everyone when you arrive because before I can say my room number they've already greeted me by name. This is my new Paris go-to.

Justin F.

Yelp
The staff at the Lancaster is the best I've experienced at any hotel. The air didn't work the first night in the hotel and they went ABOVE and BEYOND to accommodate us and mend the situation. The concierge gave us amazing recommendations and booked everything for us, saving us time and money. This hotel is beautiful and the breakfast buffet at the restaurant is AMAZING. What this hotel lacks in glitz and glamour, it makes up for in service ten fold. Seriously cannot say enough about the staff. Once we left, they even mailed us a package to Cannes that we left at their hotel. Thank you Lancaster!!

Sara A.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel!! One of the best in Paris! Wonderful, accommodating staff. Beautiful rooms, lovely breakfast. Fabulous location. I will continue to stay here every time I visit Paris!
