The hotel impressed with its luxury and great style. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything you need. The bed is large and comfortable. The view from the window is a fairy tale. The staff is friendly. Ample parking. My colleagues and me were not very happy with their long serving of the food.

Very beautiful, quiet, comfortable boutique hotel. The staff was fantastic, the room was large, the food was superb, the gardens and grounds were tranquil and the pool/spa area was relaxing. Photos online of the pool are great, but the actual pool is better…lots of buttons along the walls that activate water jets, waterfalls and more. Breakfast was amazing; there was a nice selection of fruits, meats, cheeses, etc., and they offered to make our little one eggs anyway she wanted, or waffles, pancakes, or crepes. We would definitely return.

This is an impressive hotel. The first thing to note is the excellent hotel website - very informative and professional. The cost of a room was also cheaper on their own website than other booking sites.|Situated not far from the main A1 motorway between Bremen and Hamburg, worth the detour. The hotel layout is rather special, different from the norm. It is extremely well decorated in a traditional/modern style with a great deal of thought gone into it. The rooms are well equipped and decorated in relaxing and welcoming tones. The mattresses are quite hard - maybe not to everyone's taste. Meals are excellent and the service throughout is top notch. Loved the wellness area which includes a lovely indoor pool (open 24 hours), three saunas, massage treatments etc. The hotel is set in very pleasant ad well maintained gardens. Just can't find anything to complain or criticize. This is definitely a 5 star family-run hotel

Stayed with family (2 adults + 2 teenagers) - for 2 nights before travelling further south. Hotel is fairly close to the Autobahn and also close to same main attraction in Lüneburger Heide as Heide Park, Walsrode Vogelpark etc. The hotel itself is very beautiful, embedded in a nice garden with a good car park area. The hotel also has a garage but we did not use it. Inside is the hotel elegant and spacious but yet with a cosy atmosphere. The staff have a correct and polite approach for a luxury hotel but at the same time very friendly, welcoming and service-minded. The rooms are good and spacious. The basement is a first class large, nice indoor pool and SPA area. The pool area was open 24-7, is in it self worth a visit - the whole family enjoyed it much as a relaxing break on the travelling south. Also the restaurant is first class, with very good tasting food, nice bar area with live piano music in the evening - luxurious yet relaxing setting - well worth a visit.||Summary - a really pleasant stay but plan for at least 2 nights so you have time to discover and enjoy it!

Stayed with family (2 adults, 3 children). Fabulous clean and spacious room, staff were super friendly and food (dinner and breakfast) was wonderful. ||||Lots of lovely touches like home made biscuits in the room, fresh flowers everywhere, super comfortable beds and lovely bed linen. It’s not a cheap option, but you definitely get what you pay for. ||||Children loved the pool and were well tolerated. Also great to be able to have all five us very comfortably in one room (fed up of having to book two rooms everywhere we go because we have more than two children). Would stay again in a heartbeat if the opportunity arises. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful place ! The bedroom is nicely arranged (see pictures that don’t give any justice), the service includes making your bed for the night. The place is very nice and quiet ; the personnel is very attentive to any of your needs. The spa area is nice too with a choice of 3-4 saunas, a pool and some nice resting areas. They propose beauty treatments that I didn’t get a chance to use but seemed lovely. This place is perfect for a weekend gateway to relax alone or in a couple. The restaurant menu proposes multitude of tasty meals.

Had 3 nights in Sep to catch up with family from across the country.||While the hotel advertises 5 star it is probably just short of that, showing its age a bit now (perhaps 25 years old?) but the overall experience was excellent.||Without exception, the staff throughout the hotel went out of their way to make us comfortable and feel important.||||Rooms are a good size, bathroom also roomy. Nice view over forest like back yard from quiet, 2nd storey rear room.||Bed was comfortable. ||Facilities included big TV, pants press, complimentary fruit tray with bottle of water, mini bar at reasonable prices.||Free wifi throughout hotel.||Water pressure in separate shower enclosure was great. I love a good, hot shower.||Dined in the main restaurant 3 nights. Excellent food and service at higher range price.||Extensive wine menu.||Breakfast also in restaurant (extra 22E on top of 175E for room) was very good. Full buffet plus eggs cooked to your liking. ||||Breakfast price also allows you access to the Thermal Pool in the basement. I didn't use it but plenty of others travelling down in the lift wearing their complimentary white dressing gowns were a testament to the popularity of the spa and sauna area.||||Parking in undercroft garage was extra 12E but you could park in the carpark out front for free but this was usually full in the evenings because the hotel has a lot of functions and many local guests for dinner.||I did avail myself of a free hotel bike to enjoy a ride around the local area.||I had a game of golf at Golf Club Wumme a good country course about 15 minutes away and noticed the hotel sponsors a hole there. They probably have a deal at the golf club but I didn't ask.||||There are probably more things available that I missed.||||I look forward to staying again. Well done Wachtelhof and special thanks to Sunke at the desk and the barman who's name i've forgotten, who could not have been more helpful.

This lovely hotel is about one hour by train from Hamburg. I enjoyed a few days here and must say that I have never experienced such pleasant, professional staff. The rooms are very comfortable and the hotel has a large, inviting spa area where you can easily spend the day. It unfortunately otherwise lacks common rooms; a separate lounge or library would have been nice. The breakfast buffet is vast and even though I stumbled into the breakfast room 15 minutes before they were due to close I was treated as if I were the best thing that had ever happened to the staff, they were incredibly friendly despite my tardiness. I was less impressed with the restaurant; not to say that the food was bad, it was ok but I have had much better. I ordered a 5 course menu and for some reason each course was served by a different waiter. A low point was when I was served skate wing, which tasted horrid (it was not fresh). I must have grimaced as a waiter come over to ask if everything was ok. They took my skate back and I got to choose an alternative course - but the chef did not bother to come out, I was offered nothing to compensate (a glass of bubbly would have done the trick) and didn't get a real apology - I would have expected more than that. In a nutshell, this is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in and I would go there again. The hotel spa is lovely and inviting. While the staff is fantastic, I was not impressed by the food but can only speak for the Jardin Noblesse restaurant. But the rest of my experience was so good that I would be willing to give the restaurant another try.
