What a horrible place with horrible people running it. I had reviewed them prior and it seems to have disappeared. They tell you the rooms have air conditioning but they do not. They call a fan air conditioning. So then they tell you to open the windows well the windows don't have screens. We tried it. Went a couple doors down for dinner and came back. There was reptile poop all over the room. Don't know if they were snakes. Or what. They refused to give us another room. We were booked there for 3 days. They would not refund us the other two days. It was worth it to lose the money to not stay in this room. They speak English until all of a sudden they don't. Would not recommend this place to anybody. There are other nice hotels in town that I certainly would not recommend giving my money to a place like this. And on top of that it is literally right on the main road. Your open window is like 10 ft from the road. I read another review here about the way they were treated. Yeah they're really great when things are going wonderful but as soon as there's an issue they will turn on you it seems.

I stayed here for two nights with group of ten. I highly recommend this place if you are traveling with a group or just looking for a place to experience local wildlife. The view from the back deck is incredible. The staff treats you like family. Breakfast is made fresh each morning. I loved feeding the monkeys and coati that live in the trees near the patio. This place is close to all the tourist activities and is only about 5 minutes from the town square. Staff took care of laundry & cleaned rooms. I felt our whole group was safe & secure during our stay here because you get keys for your room as well as the front door to the building. Doña Nidia was the best host. There are lots of jungle excursions, horse back riding, zip lines, night tours nearby. The hosts at the orchid hotel can translate English and Spanish and is happy to help you get set up with anything you need in the area. Our group will cherish this experience for a lifetime. Did I mention that the view is incredible too?

A very Charming and Friendly hotel. Beautiful views out the back of waterfalls, forest and the town of Monte Verde. Pizote’s and white face monkeys come for breakfast. Great for many photo ops!! Nidia and Danilo are Wonderful hosts! The breakfast is included and is a Delicious Costa Rican style!! We highly recommend this unique hotel.

Very helpful and insanely cooperative and hospitable hosts.. it’s very well maintained and neat. The breakfast is freshly made and served to give you a homely feel.. The backyard view is very good you have the best view for a waterfall in the forest. If you meditate (like me 😇) there’s no better place now, There is no fan or AC. If you are like me who can’t sleep without it then you’ll have to ask for a pedestal fan from them. The walls between the rooms are really really thin and even a whisper can be heard across. Since this borders mountains and forests you can feel really really strong winds (thin walls ). Even with all of these things mentioned, you can still stay here if it’s for a night or at the max 2.

We’ve stayed here twice & we will continue to stay here every time we visit Monteverde because it is the best hotel in town! It’s family owned & operated & definitely makes you feel like you’re part of the family while you’re there! Spacious room, excellent service, hand cooked breakfast cooked right in front of you every morning, AND THE ABSOLUTE BEST VIEW! Go out to the back of the hotel & you can see monkeys and coatis literally a foot or 2 away from you! & There’s also a lookout platform where you can see miles of mountains and the waterfalls! Absolutely stunning!

The place is clean and cozy with THE most breathtaking views, wildlife, and delicious Breakfast. Perfect for couples time, family trips, or adventures with friend!! We always look forward to our next trip to Monteverde to stay at Hotel Las Orquideas.

This is not my first time to stay here, so I knew to call ahead and let them know we had a large group coming to visit Monteverde. Like always they told us about the best places for us to go around town and for our adventures. Nidia, the wife, owner, the receptionist, the Grandmother, took out a map of Costa Rica and gave us a great insight into the rest of our travels that really help us to avoid some of the bad areas and maneuver the roads easier. Her husband, Dan the man, helped us in so many ways.. He also has a farm that he took our group to visit one day. They cooked us a wonderful meal, had horses and an atv to drive. It was the most peaceful experience of my trip. They now have cabin built there that I am going to try to rent from them on a future solo trip. It is the perfect set up for a couple people to do yoga and really get in touch with nature. ||||The ladies back at the bed and breakfast that cooked for us and cleaned our rooms were amazing!! Elizabeth has been working for Dan and Nidia for 16 years and is great at her job.. They cooked us pancakes, bacon and eggs. Always the best fresh fruit. But the coffee.. They grow it and it’s in my opinion the best cup I drink in CostaRica and that’s saying a lot because there is great coffee everywhere, but this team has it down the best that I’ve seen of getting it from a plant to my tastebuds.. ||||If you are coming anywhere near here... Stay Here!! You won’t be disappointed.. Let them know the things you’re interested in and they will help you have a wonderful experience.

Very nice place. Owner was super helpful in explaining what to see and do around. They fed coatis and monkeys bananas in the afternoon and I got to help. Brilliant memory. Room was simple but good. Showerhead had mist setting: amazing! The only negative aspect was that some of the rooms (including ours) were located around the breakfast area. So it could get a bit noisy in the morning. Didn't really bother me. My wife a little more. We got up quite early to go to the cloud forest anyway, so not a big issue
