Good hotel with a reasonable price/performance ratio.

We enjoyed our stay here in a simple but well kept clean hotel. The front desk staff was delightful and very prompt with our requests for taxi service to airport and out of town gardens. We even experienced an earthquake while here and the hotel manager was calm, understanding and educated on how to deal with aftermath. We continued our stay and we’re delighted to be close to Malecon and churches in the old town area. Price was fantastic!

Is it the best hotel in town? Absolutely not. The "hot water" is more of "room temperature" water (maybe a little on the cold side). The toilet was broken, but they took care of it as soon as I reported it. I also called for extra towels and laundry service, and they acted quickly. The lady that cleans the rooms has been working there for years, and she is so polite, friendly, and helpful. The rooms are clean, and maintained daily. So, as far as service is concerned, they are great. The receptionists English at the time of my visit was very limited; luckily, I was able to communicate in Spanish. Its location, it is very central. You can walk to many tourist spots, and the restaurants and bars that are further away, you are a $2-5 taxi ride away. If you plan to work from this hotel using their WiFi, know that they connection is terrible.

Fraud. Charged in cash and additionally from my credit card. I was promised to be called back about the issue but obviously wasn't. Sad that the employees need to steal every dollar they can get from a tourist.

We had one of the corner rooms in the pictures. The beds were very low and incredibly hard. Had to ask for a second towel ... low quality. The internet was impossible to use although there were lots of bars available ... very slow and would kick us off before getting through loading one web page. We saw other complaints about this in the suggestion box. Staff shrugged it off. The place was clean and the elevator worked well. Breakfast was good ... with much better wireless. There wasn't even a chair in our room and almost no place to put a laptop. We would have had to squat to use it. Hot water was cool. Curtains are thin and don't do a bit of good keeping out the street noise. A/C is either off or on ... and very noisy. Staff didn't speak a word of English, btw. We checked out and went to the City Plaza Hotel less than a block away which was great.

Large room, central location near shopping, restaurants, parks and the||Malacon along the water. The good but simple included breakfast was in a very||nice restaurant next door. The staff were friendly and helpful. The main problem was with the air conditioner - it was either on, and quite cool, or off, making the room very stuffy. There was no temperature control which was a nuisance especially at night.||The beds were not very comfortable.

The place was crawling with cockroaches. During our first night we had to kill two. When we complained the receptionist was not surprised and said it’s common because, you won’t believe it: the rooms on the first floor were close to the restaurant, so the roaches come there. We were shocked, because she’s basically saying the hotel’s restaurant, where we had breakfast this morning, was also infested. All they did was offer to move us to the second floor. As a compensation we were offered free lunch at the same restaurant, which we politely declined.

I liked the location, close to the Malecon, parks, shopping, banks and restaurants. The hotel has an elevator and I was on the top 4th. floor in a large single. Too large since the 40 " tv was too far from the bed on the opposite side of the room. Keep in mind this is an older hotel and the furniture is spartan and the bed was hard but o.k. for me.||Bathroom was remodeled and the shower had an all glass front. Plenty of hot water but tricky to maintain a nice temperature. Wi-fi is excellent! Staff was helpful.||I had central air with no controls except off and on so I just toggled it, an inconvenience, but I turned it off at bedtime since it was not hot. It seems not as hot as previous years perhaps due to a change in the clime or maybe subjective.||The California Restaurant is adjacent to the hotel.
