Stayed at this lovely hostel, akin to Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel. Not to sound like an ad, but with the help of the Aurora app, we were able to see the northern lights pretty clearly about a five minute drive from the hostel. Who stayed in the family apartment and have three bedrooms, we all fit very comfortably in there had a full kitchen as well. It’s very convenient to have a full bar and restaurant that was very prompt, courteous and responsive. It’s definitely a highlight to walk right down to the beach and feel hot Springs and see underground spots that bread was baking overnight.

The hotel was spotless and the staff very welcoming. We had a room in the annex, these were supposed to be the best rooms. It was a good size, very clean, comfortable beds but the heating didn't work. After several attempts it did work but not in the bathroom. It was -12 outside and our room was decidedly chilly. We were part of a small group and the meals provided for us were adequate rather than special. We stayed 2 nights here because the location provided perfect black skies for Aurora hunting. This was 100% successful. Parking is easy at the front of the hotel. If they had been able to sort the heating out we would have scored it higher.

One of the best meals I’ve had in Iceland! Everything was very reasonably priced and full of flavour. The lamb steak was perfectly cooked — succulent, tender, and wonderfully seasoned, paired with potatoes and a rich mushroom and cream sauce. The cod was beautifully fresh and delicious. The pizza had a thicker base than expected but was still very good. Starters and desserts were just as impressive: the baked brie was outstanding, and the cheesecake with fresh mangoes was a real treat. The hotel itself is also excellent. The service was warm and accommodating — we requested a particular room and they happily arranged it. The property is spotlessly clean, with a peaceful atmosphere and a stunning lake view. The location is convenient too, with a petrol station next door for easy refueling. A quiet, relaxing stay in a lovely town, with great food to match. Highly recommended!

We stayed in the hotel for two nights on an aurora chasing tour. It’s a budget hotel so not surprisingly the room was basic, however, it was clean, warm and comfortable. The en suite was compact, with a decent shower and underfloor heating. There was no kettle in the room but there was a free hot drinks machine downstairs which was accessible 24 hours. ||There was a small bar and restaurant downstairs. The staff were very accommodating and agreed, with a bit of notice, to prepare decent and plentiful buffet style evening meals for our tour group. Breakfast was typical Icelandic fare and good value. ||Our room overlooked the back of the hotel, with views to the lake and beautiful sun rises. We were lucky enough to catch the aurora during our stay, helped by dark skies by the lake shore.

The hotel is on the perfect location when driving the golden circle, close to Geysir and Gulfoss and an easy drive back to Reykjavik. The rooms are basic but clean, warm and comfortable. The breakfast was good and there was also a bar and coffee machine. I would also highly recommend Lindin Bistro which is just around the corner for dinner. We would be happy to return next time we are in Iceland.

Simple but perfectly adequate accommodations. We received our room number and an entry code via email and had no problem getting it. We were headed up the stairs and an employee came chasing after us to make sure we had everything we needed. We found the location to be a good launching point for our golden circle day - not too far out of Reykjavik to drive to once the sun was down and close enough to Brúarfoss to not have to start the next day too early either.

First night at this lovely, simple hotel. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Phillip at the bar was so accommodating - we stopped in just before 9 PM as we missed dinner at other locations nearby, and he had the kitchen whip up a delicious pizza for us. Looking forward to the next 3 nights!!

I would have given a higher rating for this hotel but it was difficult to find the entrance, instructions were unclear and the room was very tiny and no ventilation to clear the steam from the shower, no place for luggage either, but other than that, the room was clean and comfortable with a nice window to view the lake! Breakfast isn’t included with the hotel room but can be purchased at the dining area in another building, they had a nice spread for the money, about $22 in American dollars , nothing is cheap in Iceland and no scrambled eggs or bacon, more like a continental breakfast!
