"Located in the liveliest section of San Lorenzo, this budget-friendly hotel has a fun vibe and offers spacious rooms (from singles to quadruples) with a simple but elegant look; rooms include large bathrooms, comfy beds, desks, and flatscreen TVs. The dining area has an interesting design with large brick arches that divide it into somewhat separate sections for privacy while you eat. There’s nothing super fancy about it, but it provides excellent value." - Matthew Kepnes

Hotel was pretty easy to get to. Very clean. Room size was excellent for 3 people to share. Elevator is a huge plus! My wife and I and a friend were only staying 1 night. Check in process was smooth. Cosmo was absolutely fabulous. So very friendly and helpful. Helped us with suggestions for food and assisted with best ways to get around town for the few things we wanted to do. The rest of our party was staying for 3 nights, checking out for 2 nights and coming back to stay 1 more night before heading back home. Cosmo gave them suggestions for how to get to the things they wanted to see. Your hotel was very accommodating as they were permitted to leave their luggage stored for the 2 days they left because they were checking back in again on Thursday. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of food choices. The only bad thing was the peaches in syrup, as they were swamped with fruit flies. Other than that, everything else available for breakfast was great! Coffee machine was awesome!

Positives: Friendly staff, clean rooms, quiet, decent breakfast. Negatives: Very very dated room (Room 301). Some of the rooms appear to be renovated, but 301 is clearly not. The mattress in the room was so old, dirty and stained under the covers, and uncomfortable--I could feel the metal springs poking my back when I slept. The bathroom is narrow and not renovated. The shower faucet just falls off when you turn it. Just very run down and old. The room furnishings seem to be from the 1960s. The main issue was the very old and uncomfortable mattress. It's not expensive to buy a good mattress so your guests aren't in pain!

Our stay at the hotel was truly pleasant! While the breakfast was somewhat repetitive, it was very tasty – clearly prepared with care and quality ingredients. What impressed us the most was the attitude of the staff – everyone was extremely kind and friendly, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Special thanks to the person at the front desk (I believe his name was Kosmo) – very professional, helpful, and always ready to assist with a smile and great dinner recommendations. Thank you for the warm hospitality – we would definitely come back again!

Beware of this hotel. We stayed in this hotel from July 20 to July 22. On July 22, our family went down to eat breakfast and during that half an hour window. The staffs with access to the room key stole cash and jewelry from my purse in the room. We have filed police complaint. Apparently they don’t have security cameras around the rooms/ hallways. Looks like an organized crime to steal from tourists. While you’re busy eating your breakfast with your family they are busy stealing from your room. DO NOT STAY HERE..THE MANAGER IS ALSO INVOLVED.

The staff is professional and pleasant, and the hotel is nice. The university is within walking distance. Well worth the cost. We returned in the late afternoon for the baggage claim after check-out and received coffee as a gift. |I do recommend this hotel.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Laurentia. The room was very spacious, and there was very little noise - apart from some traffic noise and sounds from the street. I was not conscious of other residents. The staff were unfailingly helpful and friendly. The hotel was very conveniently positioned for Sapienza University - and for restaurants.

It thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was very good and the breakfast was lovely and plenty full|The Wi-Fi only seemed to work if we were stood next to reception and a tray with tea and coffee facilities in the room wouldn’t go amiss||If ever we came back to Rome, we would consider staying at this hotel again

Great staff, they really made you feel welcomed, a nice and tasty range of breakfast, small old style room but has everything you need, close to restaurants, food shops, bars, bus stops, short walk to train station. Quiet location and still close to everything.

Yelp
We had such an odd experience at Hotel Laurentia. My friend, cousins, and I ended up booking a couple of nights here after our other hotel arrangements in Ostia didn't work out. The man at the front desk during the day was helpful and accommodating, but the front desk person working the evening was rude and unprofessional. The hotel is in San Lorenzo which is popular with college students and hipsters alike. It's a few blocks away from what the hotel staff described as a bad neighborhood, but I think they took a ton of extreme precautions. After 8pm, they lock the front doors to the hotel. YES - LOCKED. You'll have to ring the bell and bang on the door, and even then, the front desk person might ignore you, making the assumption that it's a drunk passerby just playing a prank. So bizarre. We ended up waiting 15 minutes and then getting ID'ed as if we were trying to get into an exclusive night club before getting in to the hotel that we paid good money for. I'll stop here because even thinking about this experience gets me agitated. For more than 120 euros per night, you would think they had a better system organized here. The rooms were okay... roomy but outdated and totally dark. 0 windows! The bathrooms were very clean and extremely spacious. I'd give this hotel one star if it wasn't for the spacious rooms and decent front desk person working in the earlier hours. He was pretty helpful in giving us directions and letting us know which routes to take if we chose to walk to local attractions. Those factors were the only saving grace here. Book at your own risk.

Yelp
Great hotel. Stayed a week for work. Breakfast was filling and the cappuccino fantastic. It's close to the action with several tavernas out in the piazzatta which I both went to and watched from my terrace. The desk staff was helpful and enjoyed my basic Italian. I'd stay here again, as it is close to the Termini and easy (less than 3miles) from most anywhere.
